  1. The optimism is desperately needed with those budget slashings and such. Can make up for some of it. Even if they can get 20,000 people, that would be a big step forward.
  2. I think there's a bit of that, but it comes from an aspirational mindset. I don't think he's necessarily bullshitting anyone (or "playing politics" if we're trying to be nice), even if he knows it's a bit pie-in-the-sky. If they can get even 20,000 for the EMU game, that should triple the resolve to get rid of the garbage Tuesday games on the next TV deal. "Even Akron can get a full house for a Saturday game." Yeah, you're giving up TV money that probably exceeds net ticket sales gain. But you're also doing a lot to build longer-term fanbase relationships. Of course, thinking long-term has never been the MAC's forte.
  3. The Zips can't afford (and shouldn't waste the money) on a firing. JoeMo only leaves after 2026 if he wants to go back to being a P4 OC or similar.
  4. I don't hate this idea. Not sure how feasible is, but I don't hate it.
  5. You know what, that's a great idea. I'd go as far as yo kick off the whole season with that game.
  6. While we know the MAC schools are just trying to get every last penny immediately without considering long-term growth, one would think having six Saturday games (instead of three) just might be better for developing a fan base and a season ticket base. But that involves work, and we know better than to expect that from this athletic department. Hopefully Toledo and BG have at least started sowing the seeds to get rid of this in at least getting their Tuesday rivalry game moved to a Friday.
  7. Two things here 1- at least the games will be fun 2- defense has been the better coached side the entirety of this regime so they should develop well this season
  8. That's what I don't know. He hasn't played for two years, and his last start before that was a 59-0 loss in the FCS semifinals. Is he good? If he's not, well...
  9. It's the days of NIL, so everyone's roster is gutted annually. If he's a legitimately good FBS QB, the ceiling is a MAC title.
  10. You'd certainly hope so. While you don't necessarily want to be chucking bombs up 50...I'm hoping for a win that mimics the Nebraska loss last year, given Robert Morris is not only an FCS team...but a bad one.
  11. Yeah I guess Kent has it so much easier, so Carney could take them from Kenni Burns to 5-7 in his first year. Kenni really set the Flashes up for long-term success unlike Arth. My bad.
  12. If Minnesota and Wake Forest are way down, sure. But they were 8-5 and 9-4. With 11-2 UNLV, it would be quite the upset if Akron were anything but 1-3 (I suppose Joe could shock us and lose to Robert Morris too)
  13. As body bag games go, this year's aren't bad. Will also help if they can ditch the Tuesday games to get better crowds at home for the entire season.
  14. Hey that's all well and good if you're happy with 13-35. I'm truly glad you're happy with it. I'm not. I can see it took Joe four years to get to the five wins Kent got in the first year after Kenni Burns.
  15. 6+ wins once after being 13-35 doesn't deserve an extension.
  16. Eh it's all about cost cutting. They'll Bengals it and keep him until his contract's up.
  17. eh it's still a sign the season's near. Carry on
  18. Sadly, only until August 29th, at which point Akron will only be tied for second.
  19. Fixing NIL so bracket busters aren't just 19-15 power teams would be the first step.
  20. If this were accurate to real life, feels like Akron's offense should be pretty OK!
