When we start selling out basketball games we can talk about a new arena. Granted we don't sellout football games but the stadium is in dire straits.The average attendance last year for basketball was 3,600 and Rhodes holds 5,500. Football thus far is averaging 16,000+ (more like 10,500 though) but still that is way more than basketball. A Stadium is needed now and a basketball arena is not. I have great faith in Keith to take this program to the next level, he should get what he wants and deserves it.In regards to the MAC Championship. I think Woods is a crutch and hurts the teams chemistry. He is lazy and sluffs off during lifting and running. The coaches don't discipline him when he does it. They baby him way too much. The team will take notice that the coaches are favoring him which will hurt the chemistry between the players and the coaches. I think because of this we finish second behind Miami or Can't State.

ewww, losing Coach Pry, now that is a thought with discussing. He called the offensive plays last and now JD has taken that on. Has the team slumped because JD has overextended himself?

I doubt athletics will give the students a lower bowl side section. Not enough students show up and that is a lot of money they would be throwing away since they charge anywhere from $300-$750 per seat in the lower bowl for the year.

Where are the AK-Rowdies going to be sitting this year? Rumor has it the band is back downstairs. That takes away from the seats set aside for the AK-Rowdies. I liked the band upstairs better. You could hear them better and it made for a better overall experience.I agree though of putting the band downstairs during winter break because most AK-Rowdies go home!

In regards to the two interceptions in two weeks that Charlie threw.The first was against Baltimore and Charlie was flattened while throwing the ball. He was unable to get the right touch on the ball to get it over the defender. You're right, that wasn't the lines fault. They talked that they have run that play in practice many times and many times they were successful, the line knew what it had to do and failed. If he would not have been hit it would have been a touchdown or at least since he threw it to Braylon a dropped pass. The second game he admitted it was his fault and hey like it wasn't obvious that it was. He stated after the game that he trusted too much in Kellen to make a play for him so he purposely threw up the jump ball. He is learning his lessons and taking a beating while doing it. He is the most hit QB in the NFL this season, but again you're right, it's Charlies fault for that, I mean he should see those pass rushers coming from his blind side or be able to scramble through the gaps we all know the offesive line has been so great at making for the running game. The fact that this board is taking cheap shots at a QB that helped put Akron on the map by winning the MVP of the Senior Bowl and being drafted by a team that has done nothing but ruin QBs since they have come back is absolutely ridiculous. Charlie has worked his ass off for Akron and the Borwns and we choose to bash him. This is ridiculous.

After talking to some on the facilities staff I found out why they have the GA all on one side and the other side is reserved. Simple, looks better on TV. All the cameras are on the reserved side and they are shooting across the field towards GA. The fuller it is the better it looks on tv, internet, etc... and will help with recruiting for those who cannot make it and will help with Akron getting more games on tv and on the internet.I think it is a great idea. :thumb:If you want to sit on the reserved side, buy a reserved ticket. Both games this season I had randoms sitting in my seats. Had to make them move because they had GA. Yes I could have sat elsewhere but it's the principle, I bought those specific seats.There is nothing wrong with sitting on either side. You can see the same stuff on either side. As much as I have disagreed with some of the decisions made by the Athletics Department this one I agree with. Kudos!

It went dry do to new regulations. In order to sell beer in a stadium you have to have railings that go up and down the aisles. The Rubber Bowl doesn't have that. They can sell beer outside the Bowl of Rubber which is why the beer garden was born.So note to Stadium Builders.1. Have Railings so alcohol can be sold in the stadium.2. Have Tiered seating so there aren't 50 rows to carry the beer, Cut it to 30 rows and make two levels.3. Get a clue on food and beverage costs, because they are way too high.4. Kepp ticket prices and parking reasonable. None of this $500 crap. $20 a space and $10 a reserved seat. When you have to start turning people away then you raise the price to meet the market expectations. Simple economics really, don't price out the market. Apparently members of the athletics staff have never taken an econ course!!

ZipAlumn - That is informaiton is striking that you couldn't by home games four games into the season. I am curious on who you talked to? As for the Men's Soccer team they lost two HUGE members of the team last year that were cause for much of the success in Ross McKenzie and Yohann Mauger. Yohann controlled the middle and was able to get the ball into the gaps and Ros was one of the best if not the best finisher I have ever seen wear a Zips jersey. Thos two players would be difficult for any coach especially a new coach to replace in only one season.As for woman's soccer there record has much to do with the scheduling. The coaches scheduled cupcake teams to make the record look better. If the woman were better than last year they would have won the Westfield Cup tournament. There was not one good woman's soccer team in the field.Zips football is my biggest concern. The offensive line concerns me the most. With all five starters returning they should be better than what they are showing. Granted they have had a tough schedule, but they have only played in two really hostile environments such as Penn State and NC State and they went 1-1. I think the team is having a total let down from last season. I see a lack of effort. The best team in the MAC by far at this point is Central Michigan. Akron should be right up there but this lack of effort is disturbing. I have counted 12 dropped balls in the past two games that would have prolonged a possession. Lindsay looks lost out there running the wrong patterns and it is obvious that Getsy is not on the same page with any of his wide recievers other than Harvey, but even he dropped a ball against Cincinnati.Hopefully things get turned around.
