  1. I wouldn't plan on seeing much of CJ for the simple fact that Luke was pathetic in Toledo and CJ still didn't get a snap. 21-0 in the first quarter and 35-20 with 1:30 left in the game are good situations to see what someone else can do, even if it doesn't effect the outcome of the game. Didn't see him last week in an embarrassment, I'm not planning on seeing him for more than 2 series the whole game this week.
  2. Perfect example is at the Miami game. Although he messed up real bad on the first play he was in, CJ put some fear in Luke. Once Luke saw that JD was giving CJ a chance, Luke stepped up and started playing ball like he should've been for a year and a half now. If it doesn't give your underclassmena reason to pay attention, it sure gives your starters some fear that if they don't get their job done, someone else will get a chance.
  3. he need to share this story with all the boys that take this team as a joke on the side! Out of all these guys on the team that think the school is priveleged to have them on the team, they're wrong! If there is one person who the school should feel priveleged to have on the team, it's Jones. He's shown he wants to be here. He deserves to be here. If not for him, for Ms. Jones!
  4. Agreed CK. This team has fallen apart. They are not playing to win. They are playing to not lose, and we can't even get that done. You are like the 8th person I've heard talking about the guys laughing on the sideline when the team's in trouble. If these guys aren't there to play, why bring them. With their heads that far out of the game, they aren't gonna do any good if they HAVE to go in the game anyways. CJ should start getting more reps. Finally people have started to see the lack of ability and leadership Luke has. It's just a shame that it took over half a season and 5 losses for people to realize that. I know CJ is less experienced than Luke, but he can't possibly look worse than luke did on Saturday. I believe that with a new QB, it might mix it up some. Again, Jabari, J. Reid and Kiki, good games. Kennedy, way to finally get more than 3 yards every run.
  5. He might have been better than them, but that still does not mean that he is what I consider a quality college QB. I think the same situation goes for Charlie and Luke. They were mediocre QB that had the receivers and running backs to make them look good. Luke's stats last year were what made everyone think he was amazing. He had Biggs, Hixon and Montgomery to make him look good. Some of the catches those boys made.......unbelievable.
  6. It's not that it's forgotten. It's the fact that it was 20 years since there was any sign of life, so when Charlie rolled around, everyone thought he was God. He was and OK QB, but not great. It's just that we hadn't seen anything in 20 years, so he gained a hype about him that with a streak of winning seasons, that hype wouldn't have been there.
  7. It's not the line that is the problem....it's our secondary defense.
  8. It's the same thing with Charlie as it has been with Luke. Everyone always has an excuse of why they aren't getting their job done....OL, dropped passes, coaching. Granted, those are problems some of the time, but NOT ALL THE TIME!!!! Finally, in this last game, people started to admit that he isn't all they have talked him up to be! He's not half that!
  9. his presence helps as long as he can keep is attitude and ego under control. When those 2 things get outta hand, it has affected the whole team.
  10. I understand that playcalling and OLs have something to do with the productivity of a QB, but let's be real....that is not the reason for the lack of show from these 2. Toledo's QB was rid of the ball within 3 seconds of the snap almost 75% of the time. Quick passes like that, OL doesn't make a difference 'cause the ball's gone before the DL can get to him. Quick passes from Luke would be nice! Agreed that Charlie's always been mediocre. I seemed to be the only one that realized that when he was at Akron. Browns took him 'cause sadly he was better than what they had.
  11. hurt his knee in last week's game. Was dressed to play at the beginning. Saw him warming up on the sidelines, and looked in pain. Came back out from halftime in his warm-up suit. Guess his knee's still bothering him.
  12. If I have to watch our team jog out of the tunnel at the beginning of the game or WALK out of the tunnel after halftime, I'm throwing my coke bottle at them and leaving the stadium! If you don't want to be there, turn in your jersey. Here's the scene: Glass Bowl stadium in Toledo, 4th quarter, Akron's down 34-20. Tell me why there are players on the sidelines laughing and joking/jumping around. They can turn in their jerseys with the rest of 'em. If I was JD, they'd be done! Not ready to play, don't care about the game. Gimme your jersey...you're done! I've been on the away side for most games this season, can anyone tell me if they're always like this on the sidelines?
  13. Agreed! Is it possible just to put these guys on the field and see what they can do on their own? It couldn't possibly be any worse than the way we played last night! These boys played balls-to-the-wall and kept the game from being even more embarrasing than it already was!Kennedy: way to see the holes and make bad playcalling and bad blocks into gained yardage 119 yards to be exact....good game!Harvey: way to make great catches out of bad passes and at least gain some yardage on punt returns.Kemme: glad someone on OL does their job. Enough said.Reid: thanks for the forced fumble (turned into 6 points), and congrats on the career- high 9 tackles. Glad someone still has heart and wants to be on the field! Stokes: we need more linebackers like this! 9 stops...way to be!Lindsay: a dropped pass, it happens....4 receptions for 50+ yards....still getting it done.As for the rest of you.....take some lessons from these boys! They know how to get 'er done. Bad thing is, they CAN'T DO IT ALONE!!!!
  14. Another impressive game by the Zips! It is at least nice to see that people are realizing what I have been saying this whole season (and last).....LUKE SUCKS!!!! There are 2 things that are worse than him sucking though. 1) JD didn't give anybody else a chance yesterday. I don't care if it was 1 of the CJs or whoever. Someone should have been put in during the 3rd quarter if not before. 2) I was at the game. I hate it when, as a fan, you criticize a players performance and their family has to try to fight you for saying something! As long as you also give them props when they do something right, they deserve the criticism when they suck! If family and friends of the player can't take the criticism, DON'T COME TO THE GAME!!!!! Luke's family was arguing with a girl behind us that criticized Luke's horrible passes! This is why he didn't play at Pitt! He's just lucky he's so far up JD's ass that he brought him to Akron to play! Still think this season would've been different if Jabari was in the pocket!Am I the only one that thinks it's absolutely pathetic that Toledo had 2 defensive touchdowns and only 7 of Akron's 20 points came from our Offense? Thank God Reid forced a fumble and our fieldgoals were good! Otherwise that would've been an even more pathetic looking game! At least Reid and Kiki came to play yesterday. Too bad our secondary sucks! Coaches have no right to bitch at their team for attitudes and penalties when they have 30yds against them within 30 seconds! I know it was the end of the game, and they made no difference but 2 unsportsmanlike penalties against the coaches is unacceptable! Are we ever going to see a game where Crouch makes his block and doesn't have to do it by holding??? And someone needs to put some glue on Pointdexter's hands. It was embarassing walking out of the Glass Bowl wearing an Akron jacket!
  15. Not only are we gonna win, we are gonna bury them in the mud in the shitty Ohio weather!!! GOOOOO ZIIIIIIIPS!!!!
  16. LETS GO ZIPS!!!!
  17. Another great place is off of I-75 at the Perrysburg exit it a place called Fricker's. Great food, sports bar atmosphere, about 10 minutes south of the Univeristy.
  18. Captain, first of all, chill out! Second of all, spend 2 weekends at Miami where food is free and beer is cheap at tailgating. Students don't have to lug grills and coolers out. Talk to those Miami students (know a few) and see what they think is fun tailgating. You go from saying the Zips are horrible and a 7-5 season isn't anything to saying the team is competitive. Make up your mind before you rip on someone else's comments. Akron's band is not that great! Ever watched TBDBITL? That is a good band. I know your excuse for that is "they are a huge school". Were you at the Howard game 2 years ago? Their band totaled about 60 members, and they put Akron's band to shame. Our band SOUNDS ok, but they are not great, and they by far are not exciting to watch! You contradict yourself. You say fans come to games b/c a team is good, but then you turn around and say "Browns fans go b/c of tradition and media attention!" To me, getting media attention for being #26 of 32 NFL teams in scoring is not a reason to go watch the team. Yeah, the Browns are on TV every weekend, and they embarrass themselves every weekend. So what is the reasoning to want to go to the game. Not because of the media attention.
  19. I'll be there with family in tow!
  20. For the simple fact that OU has at least been a contender in the MAC throughout the past 5 seasons. Can't has always been crapped on in the MAC football race. They have something huge to prove this season: that they, too, can compete in the MAC. They have to prove that not every win has been a stroke of luck, like many people are regarding their season. They want to prove that they can play, are here to play, and are going to the 'ship. OU is used to winning some games and at least being in the top 3 in the east. After all, they were part of the "what if"'s and "has to happens" last year that helped Akron go to the 'ship.
  21. The record may not be considered as great to "fairweather fans", but we went to, and won, the MAC Championship and went to the Motor City Bowl. If winning a championship isn't considered a great season, then Akron will never have a great season. We will never make it to bowl games like the Rose Bowl or any other big BCS bowls, you can't get any better than winning the MAC Championship and going to the Motor City Bowl. Even if we would've won that last game of the season, that would've been the end of the road, the best we could do. The record going into those 2 games could've been better, but we still would've been at the same place. If winning a ring and going to the bowl doesn't bring fans out for at least the 1st home game this season, no amount of winning will. "The attendance of 50,616 was the third largest in Motor City Bowl history. All three top attendance marks have been set at Ford Field the past three seasons after the game was held at the Pontiac Silverdome for the first six contests." Move it to a new stadium, things happen.
  22. Has anybody been to a Browns game lately? Granted, they are not sellouts, but the stadium is full. Pretty sure they have not had a winning season in.....will a hell of a long time. The have a new stadium, it sells beer, and they have afternoon games. The "no winning" and "afternoon games" are all a bunch of excuses. People go for the stadium experience. There is great tailgating, fun souvenirs in the new stadium, and a crowd that cheers! That is why people go to the games. FOR THE FUN OF IT!! Granted, it's ALWAYS nice when your team wins, but the Browns are 1-5 this season and they still get a good crowd for their games. The Zips had a great season last year, and they were no where near selling out for the last games of last season, OR the first home game of this season! Until the University creates a fun environment, the fans will not want to come. It takes the spending of some money in order to get a return on it, and as anyone can see with the spending of money on the rest of the campus, they are now seeing a huge return on it!
  23. There isn't that much of the driving in the city. And there's an easy way to find the glass bowl if you don't know the area. (The stadium is kind of hard to find from Secor if you don't know the campus.) Take the turnpike to I-75 exit, like "you am I" said. Except stay on 75. Get off Bancroft St. Veer to the right off the exit onto Bancroft St. About 1 or 2 miles down, you will come to a light, University Hills Blvd. Tiurn left. This takes you into the heart of UT campus, and the glass bowl is past the 1st 2 parking lots on the left. You can't miss it. There are also 2 parking lots right next to the stadium. And I am defending my driving. I never went faster then 75 on the turnpike (most of the time not going over 70), and I never sped on I-75. After driving the route so many times, you learn the quickest way to get to your destination. You are only off the freeways for a maximum of 2 miles.
  24. I just don't want to see them get to next year and have a QB with NO game experience. Raw talent can only take you so far, and let's be honest, practice experience is nowhere near what game situations are like. No matter what is past reasons have been, he needs, at some point, to start preparing for next season while finishing this one strong.
  25. Drove there all but 1 weekend last spring....it take 2:15 hrs. If you are a driver like me, you can make it in 1:45. If you are a grandpa, it still won't take you more than 2:30.
