  1. The bobkittens were due to get one eventually. Life in the mid-majors, lose one game and it tanks a relatively good regular season. Oh well....get the first seed, and win the MACC.
  2. All I can think of is I'm excited for Zips football again, screw the naysayers.
  3. Just looking at the classes, I'd be willing to bet that next recruiting class LB and OL will be a big point of focus.
  4. Gosh bless it...its about time we got Above the fold respect!
  5. "O-H-Oh...wait...we can't beat Akron." -Bobkitten Fans for the last three years.
  6. Next man up.
  7. Always like what I hear from coach. It does seem that there will be less ephasis on transfers coming in, transfers at least that have only one year of eligibility. After listening to the press conference it is my honest opinion that the QB competition is between Kato and Johns. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say Nick Johns is the favorite to be our starter for 2017. That's not a dig on Woodson, but coach said he won't be back to practice until June, giving Johns and Kato an opportune moment to grab the position and run with it. We know what TW is and I hope he gets better soon and the Surgery goes well so he can compete for the mix. It'll be interesting to see two QBs we really haven't seen in the spring game. Good questions from someone about the TE. Coach did mention that it's a position they need to look to utilize more, especially since they added Kobie Booker. Little bit of info I did not know is that there were significant injuries at that position as well. The injury bug really hit us last year :/
  8. Isn't that like...what we Akron fan's do? How many times have we lost dissapointing games over the last 3 years? But I will say, this team is becoming something special. They're grinding it out and winning games that, in the past, they probably lose.
  9. There's always a down game that we have no business losing. If the Zips don't pick it up FAST, kiss a top-25 ranking goodbye. Again...
  10. I'd wait till a couple of weeks after signing day. I've noticed in years past the roster will change with players appearing, disappearing, reappearing all in the span of 6-months. That's why I only try to stick to updating the roster in the roster thread to after signing day, spring ball and season opener.
  11. I don't know if anyone came across this or not, but The Buchtelite, the Independent Student News paper has suspended operations. It's the second time this has happened in the past 3-years. I worked there myself as a managing editor, opinion and sports editor for three years. From my experience, administration was outright hostile towards the students that worked there. Non-inclusive, barring from or controlling all interviews. Athletics was exceptionally uncooperative in getting approvals for press passes for writers/photographers. Of course that was previous administrations. Pity. It was one of the few fully independent student papers in the country.
  12. Sure about that? Because White House Officials couldn't even keep it straight.
  13. Isn't there a yearly group of conservative christians that cry about the Starbucks holiday cups because they're not "christiany" enough? Definitely goes both ways.
  14. Just in case any season ticket holder missed this:
  15. Come on Skip, I expect better from you. You're smarter than to use that logical fallacy. Using the few acts of vandalism as a reason to cast shade on the rest of the group is a slippery slope, and unfair. 99.999% of protestors were non-violent and did not commit any vandalism. And have you forgotten the very racial protests that took place in 2009 before Obama did anything? C'mon man. The only difference being Obama had 68% approval rating on day one while Trumps was at a 37%. The fact of the matter is this: Anytime a group of thousands of people assemble, there will be those who behave inappropriately. Not because it should cast doubt on a movement, but because some people just like to cause trouble and use such a gathering for that purpose alone. Vandalism happens in National Championship Celebrations, Out of Control Spring Breaks that young people in college seem to get involved with, Marches, Fireworks celebrations...pretty much any time people come together. The difference is, when its politics; people want to make it about the entire group protesting as a whole. While when it's something like sports, we only want to blame it on the individuals involved. Are Kentucky Fans all unruly thugs? Or is it just these young, stupid, individuals that are at fault and are not representative of Kentucky fans in general. The only except to the rule is of course, Kent Fans. Because they just suck all the time. (yes this is meant to lighten up the conversation a bit...)
  16. I take it that you were defending Obama when literally everything he did (and his wife) was criticized?
  17. Nothing loser about it, please look at the substance of what I'm saying: The Proof is in the pudding. If the majority of people support a position that is factually incorrect, they are ignorant or willingly stupid. That's how we end up with statements like "alternative-facts". I'm not making a claim for voters on either side being more "credible" than others. I'm simply pointing out that public opinion doesn't reflect reality: Something like 93% of Americans believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction in June 2003. No weapons of mass destruction have ever been found, according to the CIA...and the Pentagon...and hell, the current president! So public opinion clearly doesn't reflect reality. What it DOES reflect is a failure of the media to relay factual information to the public. It DOES reflect the failure of the media, and also the public, to question things presented to them...and to run whatever government sources say without double-checking the reliability of the government's claims. The question is: Does this Ban actually make us safer? The evidence would suggest that no it does not. Despite how people "feel" about it. Despite how well the President sold it, doesn't make it so.
  18. Poll's don't reflect the public actually understanding facts. 48% of people saying they support a ban to me, shows a lack of intellectual curiosity in America...and frankly a failure of the media, not a just reason for policy. The majority of the public supported the Iraq War before, and now afterwards the majority of the public (in hindsight) is against it. But what is the factual credibility of claims that should be important. Is it really protecting america? (1) The vast majority of refugees are women and young children, the most statistically least likely to commit acts of terrorism. (2)Most terrorist attacks in America are conducted by homegrown AMERICANS not foreigners. (FBI) (3) The majority of the people who have committed terrorist attacks in the US, did not come from the countries on his ban...Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Lebanon... Facts > Fear. I know the president and some of his supporters live in an alternate reality...but if you give people access facts like those above, that "support" number would go down. People are stupid, they're even more stupid when they aren't given facts.
  19. Matt Wilson response executive order on US immigration policy.
  20. I underlined that because, let's be real here, Universities that participate in D-I athletics...or really NCAA athletics that have a religious affiliation, are basically it in name only. Lots of kids get scholarships to John Carroll and Notre Dame College here in NEO that have 0 affiliation to the religion/sect of those universities before, during, or after their time there. They go for the sports scholarship. Period.
  21. And there it is, the problem in our society. The guys on the top squeeze every last drop they can out of something, letting everyone else fight over the what little trickles down to them. Those big universities squeeze so they can make even more. The small, desperately copy to get whatever they can out of it just to stay afloat. It's what leads to the scenarios of the G5 never getting a seat at the table for a National Championship. Ever. While those biggest of the big boys like OSU get gerrymandered in whenever possible. The day a company logo appears on a Zips or Browns or Cavs jersey is the day I stop watching.
  22. Why on earth would they do that? They'd continue to have the Commercial breaks for the $$$$.
  23. And I have been to very few Zips Basketball games this year. A trend that isn't because of crap like that, but the few games I do continue to go to will definitely go down. Everything with athletics DOESN'T HAVE TO BE monetized by some company. It's exhausting, not fun, and makes it out to be a joke. What sounds more serious? "The Cotton Bowl" or "The Goodyear Cotton Bowl"
  24. The day this happens to any of my teams, is the day I'm done watching. The Coporatocracy we live in is already bad enough, and certainly going get worse. It's already beyond absurd to have the "Heinz Ketchup Play of the Day" or the "College Football Playoff Sponsored by Doctor Pepper" or whatever other thing plus whatever other company. Hate me for it...but I'm tired of Corporations shoving themselves down our throats.
  25. They might have been also trying to leave it open for future negotiations too? 2019 is devoid of away games, so either we end up with THREE home games that year, or we try to schedule another high mid-major or low major team as an away game that year with a 1-2 arrangement or that sort of deal and no-one was taking it. 2018 should be hard too because we already have TWO away games. Assume we have an FCS team, we are going to have to kick a return visit for anyone down the road.
