  1. 11/12. Darn Toledo/CMU with not having a return trip to CMU...I knew that'd be the one I'd get wrong.
  2. Just looking at the numbers...a lot in the offseason has gone into finding people at DB and DL. This looks to be the biggest Bowden class to date.
  3. I would like to point out this prediction, assuming this is correct.
  4. I mean of course we'll be there, but we'll always be there. I too am hoping to go to Happy Valley this year didn't get to make the trip last time.
  5. Well...no-one will be at that game. So the real home-opener will be Iowa State. Unless...the Zips can come home with a win from Penn State...
  6. My HS (Medina High School) had 2400 kids, 9-12, smaller than that always made my head spin.
  7. I like that matchup. I like even more that Ohio State is no where to be seen.
  8. I didn't say there was something wrong with the promotion...hence the reason I said "Good Giveaway". I don't think it's being executed very well TBH. Love the idea, little more effort would be nice.
  9. I agree a LeBron James Bobblehead would make some people go. But it's not like you go and you get a LeBron James Bobblehead, you go and get a 1/5 chance of maybe getting one if there is any left.
  10. Email says the options are only the ones depicted. So I would like to point out, again sadly, the lack of effort being put on by athletics. Good giveaway...poorly executed. Conflicting things sent out, no directions...why is this giveaway gonna make people want to go to a game?
  11. I would say no. Couple hundred yes, so there's definitely some inflation there, but I wonder if the avg. attendance is being skewed by ticket sales to Girls BB invitations and things like that. I know they do a lot of things like that for WBB, as well as volleyball. Probably also includes all tickets sold. Alumni package I get free tickets to all WBB games, and probably have used 1 or 2 in the past three years, for the Kent game...but they'd probably count that as a ticket sold for each game in the last 3 years.
  12. I compiled the average attendance numbers for MBB, WBB, Football and MSoc (well...the four sports we generally follow the most here at ZN.O) so here are graphs, and data tables with a brief statistical analysis of them. Feel free to use any of these for any discussion. There is already a Marketing thread where attendance frequently comes up, along with an Attendance thread. Instead of rehashing in several different threads, I thought I'd just open a new thread dedicated to the data and graphs themselves. Limitations: (1) There are limitations to the data I have access to through the NCAA's website. Data for football is only available 2003-2016 (13 years). So I used this time frame in order to compile all analysis. Therefore, the historical context is limited, though I am confident in saying that the past 13-years of attendance at UA sporting events is probably the most relevant to any particular discussion or debate we may have here. Enjoy Improvements: It would be awesome to have student attendance data, as well as to add more of a historical context. Hopefully this will serve as a framework to expand upon later. Zips Football Graph 1 There is definitely a decline in attendance over time. The possibly concerning part is the decline in attendance year-to-year in the "non-inflated" years as opposed to a rather steep increase in the "inflated" years. "Inflated" and "Non-Inflated" is based upon the running assumption here in ZN.O that the university will pad attendance stats every other year which can be seen in year by year stats. Zips Men's Basketball Very Interesting observation here, attendance seems to go in roughly three year waves, cycling between a high and low. There does seem to be an attendance increase overtime, even if it's just in ticket sales. Zips Women's Basketball This data I would also consider unreliable. There's not much data to go from, because the NCAA website does have year-by-year stat records, but they sometimes include all schools, sometimes don't include all schools. Really wonky, and I don't really care to dig through it all to discover why. With that said it does evidently increase over time. Zips Men's Soccer This Data is very unreliable. The R-squared value was included because it's very close to 0, so the correlation between the data isn't that great. There seems to be a trend, but beyond the year's depicted there's not much we can tell. Attendance Records for NCAA D-1 soccer are not easy to come by on their website, I had to compile a lot of this by articles published by the NCAA talking about the "best" years in D-I Men's Soccer attendance. Though it is interesting to note, we are usually in the top-ten for soccer attendance.
  13. Indeed. And Glass house of course, I was unable to make the game last night as well. Side note: I am working on compiling data on MBB, Football, MSoccer and WBB for ZN.O, it's just been time consuming to do. Hopefully it'll help with future discussions on this forum over attendance, just so we have a reference point for which to discuss things
  14. I agree. They aren't on meltdown, but they have resigned that they aren't the cream of the crop in the MAC anymore it seems like. They have optimism that they can win the game that matters in the tournament to go bowling though. Since I've been following the Zips (the 08/09 season); The zips are 13-5 against the Bobkittens.
  15. Zips had 85% free throw shooting. I remember when free throw shooting seemed to be a liability and you'd hold your breath and pray they'd make 1, let alone 2.
  16. ...there were 3600 people at the game... I know that's "reported attendance" but still. They shouldn't schedule a rivalry game like this one on a Tuesday...when students are just starting to come back.
  17. What stands out most to me in that quote is Players and coaches devoted to changing the culture around the university and to turn the program around.
  18. Next man up.
  19. Just to play the devil's advocate...there's also really good RBs who sit second...even third behind other really good RBs, and just don't get a chance to play much.
  20. So it the friendly wagers for charity (Z-Fund, that is) currently sit at: $60 Kreed vs. Balszy $60 Hilltopper vs. Blue & Gold/LZip (we need to clarify that no?) Keener get in on this.
  21. I won't update the roster attached to this page until after signing day. But even then, I've noticed that people will disappear from the roster, to reappear on it months later. I couldn't tell you why that is, but I wouldn't read too much into it until we have an official one released prior to spring training.
  22. Bobkittens drop to the eagles.
  23. Same here. Though if I lose, I suppose it means I get to support UA athletics just a little bit more.
  24. Rong Niu.
  25. Note: I said this coaching hire might make the game more winnable. But I'm in on the bet. So it'd be $60 donation to the Z-fund that Akron would win more games than WMU in 2017?
