So, just to clarify, the Zips will not wrap up the regular season Friday night at 7 at the JAR Friday night.

Makes you wish they already had their Covid scare. I was under the impression it made its way through the team in the preseason.

When I first saw senior night was on the last night of the regular season I thought it could be a problem in this weird year.

I'd have opted for shutting down two weeks ago so that I didn't have to watch what we've seen in the last three games. It will be one year on Saturday since we were last in the JAR. Sigh.

In this 3 game slide, Trimble has scored a combined 15 points (9, 6, 0).

I'd be hesitant to make any changes this late in the season with the MAC tournament quickly approaching. I would however look for more substantial minutes for Dawson and Wynn who have more dimensions to their games than some of the other reserves. Also, as some have suggested, Trimble needs to look to do something other than be a spot up shooter.

It doesn't get unappealing for the average area fan until an unwatchable product is put on display in it. Once that's fixed, the rest will become appealing as it will no longer be "lipstick on a pig."

I suspect that he may have seen the writing on the wall that this administration is not going to get behind the athletic program financially. He probably also saw that they were not going to renew him and made the preemptive strike.

I guess that looks better on the resume than being let go.

The Zips wrap up the regular season Friday night at 7 at the JAR Friday night with Senior Night against Miami. Miami comes in at 12/10/9-8. The Zips and Redhawks faced off in Oxford on February 12th with the Zips winning 83-76. The only person smaller than LCJ in the MAC, Mekhi Lairy, led Miami with 24 in the loss. Dae Dae Grant leads the guard heavy Miami attack at 13.5 ppg. Delonte Brown leads the team in rebounding at 7.2 rpg while scoring 12.5 ppg. They are fresh off of an OT win over BG.

The only important season starts next week. I have all kinds of ideas of what's gone wrong but at the end of the day my *** is sitting in my recliner in Tallmadge instead of in the bleachers above the Zips bench. From that perspective I watched the bench intently with an eye on how the players and coaches were interacting and you could tell a lot about the team. No such luck this year. These kids seem to enjoy each other but I can't imagine a team having more chemistry than last year's squad or the perfect mix of personalities to encourage, cajole, joke with and admonish each other they had. That type of mix helps a team to overcome slumps and limit the damage. I'm not sure this team has that.

Reece and Freeman have to stay out of foul trouble or they'll get killed on the boards. Also, guys like Dailey, Wynn, Dawson and Tribble need to crash to help out. Buffalo is a on a 3 game win streak where they've won by an average of over 20+. Not feeling good about this one.

I think it is equally or as more important that they not let the other team score more than them.

They probably don't get to a second game if they lose the first. 😁

I don't want to play PCCC a third time.

The inactivity in the portal could be any number of things. It could be a staff that wants to stick with their own recruits rather than risk taking on another team's problem. It could be that the staff is just bad at recruiting the portal. It could be that kids in the portal are looking for a better situation and don't see a team with 1 win on two seasons are a better situation. Certainly, one win in two years doesn't make it an easy sell. In any event, this program needs players that can contribute. There are kids in the portal that meet that description. The staff needs to figure out a pitch that overcomes the initial perception of a program in disarray and make an effective pitch around playing time and being a part of building something special.

Last year, they were 16-4 20 games in. This year, they are 14-6 with fewer OOC dogs. Maybe it's not as bad as we fear?
