  1. I spend waaaaaaaaaaay too much time yelling at the refs about moving picks/screens. With today's reliance on the pick and roll and other screening offenses, it happens all of the time without it being called. Funny how one finally got called and they got it so wrong. I also suspect the ref may have been talked into it as it happened right in front of the Bulls bench.
  2. GT was on with Munch Bishop late this afternoon and spoke in part on the poor crowd for a top 25 team being in town. On game day, GT contributed an article on Tyler Cheese. The headline was "University of Akron men’s basketball: Familiarity starting to lead to success on court for Tyler Cheese". The only reference to Buffalo in the entire article was in the third paragraph, stating "And the Zips — coming off a 72-53 victory Friday over rival Kent State — need that to continue if they are to avoid a letdown Tuesday night against 25th-ranked Buffalo (20-3, 8-2) at Rhodes Arena." George, if you want to see a better crowd, it just might help if you and your hometown paper get the word out.
  3. Hmmmm, I took you as an old codger. LOL.
  4. I sit up in the student section. Generally, it is me, my wife, a group of middle aged men and at most a dozen students. The Buffalo game, sadly, had more than usual (25 to 30?). The KSU game was fun in that section. The overall attendance however, despite being the largest of the year, was a little disappointing.
  5. I'd like to see a bigger rotation too, but who would be in it? Walter's not ready. Fischer doesn't even suit up some nights and Marquelle McIntyre hasn't had his warmup shirt off since high school. I'd like to see that stat sheet as he missed two bunnies in the same possession in the second half as I recall. I'd be content with 8 points, 5 or 6 boards and a block or two.
  6. The Zips return to the site of JImond Ivey's record setting 48 point performance last year this Saturday to face the 13-11 Cardinals. The Cards are 4-7 in the MAC and have won two in a row (WMU and NIU). All_MAC West senior guard Tayler Persons leads Ball State in scoring at 17 ppg, while Tahjai Teague leads rebounding at 7.9 rpg. They were predocted to finish second in the West in the pre-season poll, but currently sit in the 5th spot.
  7. Instead of a Beacon article on a top 25 team coming to town we got a fluff piece about Cheese that told us what we already knew from the broadcasts weeks ago. Grrrrr.
  8. Some important numbers- Buffalo free throws- 26 UA free throws- 7 I get that Buffalo is much more aggressive with the ball and will draw more fouls, but they weren't that much more aggressive. Some real ticky tack stuff called on the Zips. Montgomery Burns and the other two goofs had a rough night. Attendance- 2600. Ridiculous for a game against a top 25 opponent. Thanks to the local press for promoting it.
  9. One more shot clock violation and my damn head will explode.
  10. Buffalo's offense just has so much more motion.
  11. Cheese a little off tonight. Trainer working on his lower quads on bench.
  12. Need to limit them to 30 or less in second half.
  13. It prematurely t-shirted on the Bulls' bench.
  14. Buffalo is getting frustrated.
  15. Getting chippy.
  16. #10 for Buffalo's scholarship apparently did not include a meal plan.
  17. Kudos to Oats for going off on the idiot for the technical for taunting the Zips bench after the three.
  18. Nice start. Some fine perimeter defense.
  19. They were talking on their forum about the intense atmosphere at the JAR. I think they're a couple of years behind.
  20. It is also important for the Zips to give up fewer points than they score.
  21. The Zips need to shoot like they did in the second half against PCCC to have a chance in this one. The bench other than Banks is going to have with some quality minutes too or Buffalo will just wear the Zips down. Also, if you are at the game and come across a Bulls student, please be kind so we can avoid the whiny tripe we got a couple of years ago.
  22. I am most concerned that Sayles seems to fall down hard a lot. LOL. I think he was coming into his own last year and the injury was a set back. Same for Poke. Funny how getting split open like a prize deer will slow a guy down! We have Williams coming on next year at 6'9". Reece comes in at 6'6" but plays bigger.
  23. $47 with the online convenience fee!
  24. There could be something to that. The Zips are 10th in the MAC in offensive rebounds and last in rebounding margin.
  25. I love how he's aggressive and attacks off of the dribble. While others will jab step or catch and shoot the three, he looks first to go to the hoop.
