  1. (raising my right hand) I swear to stay positive!
  2. Will someone please get on here and tell me how to vote. I'm afraid I'm voting for the wrong mascots!
  3. From what I hear Rodgers is really good and we'll see him next year. I think if both CJs are available we should play them both. Each one brings a different dynamic to the game and forces other teams to spend valuable practice time preparing for them. Now that we have nothing to lose I hope we go for broke and play as many guys as we can to see what they're like in game situations and to evaluate them for next year. Get the ball to Jabari as much as possible to give him the best chance we can in the draft. Rotate guys in constantly to keep what we have on the field fresh and do our best to finish the season on a positive note. I refuse to be all gloom and doom like many on this board. Good things have been happening at U of Akron. It's hardly recognizable from when I was a student there. The new stadium will help recruiting not just because of the facility but also because it will maybe push back some of the urban blight that butts up to the university. I've spoken to some ppl. who are actually afraid to send their children there. Akron is on the move. Support it. Love it. It will respond!
  4. If we recruit a bunch of top athlete "dummies" don't we lose scholarships when they don't qualify or if they become ineligible? I thought that was part of the new rules. And how can a coach develop any consistency when each week different players become ineligible because they're not going to class or because they fail a drug test? Isn't it difficult for that caliber of student to learn the plays? How many of the problems that our team has are because of play calling or is it just poor execution? What kind of leaders do these guys make? I remember what happened to Cooper at OSU when he recruited a bunch of thugs. You can't have it both ways. If you take chances on guys there are going to be disappointments.
  5. Hey guys, I hear all the CJ7 fans are going to be real happy this week!!
  6. A little bird told me that all of you CJ7 fans are going to be very happy tomorrow night!
  7. I know a young man who is a Frosh at Akron. He works nights full time in a factory to pay for his education and living expenses. He is basically on his own at the ripe age of 19. The boys in his house (appt.) took the mattress out of their sleeper sofa to give to him because he doesn't have a bed and was sleeping on a futon mattress on the floor. As far as success I'd put my money on him any time. I guess that's why I have so little sympathy for athletes on full scholarship who take what they're getting for granted. This kid is a hard worker and no doubt will be successful. I only wish some of our athletes would learn to be as dedicated.
  8. 8Am Sat. Zippy is up by about a hundred. Let's push him over the top today!
  9. Louisville got robbed tonight by UConn but as they say--a win's a win. I'm sad to say that the Mac refs aren't the only ones who need to make an eye appointment.
  10. Just got home from work and Zippy is down again. We're going to have to really work for this one! Vote! Vote! Vote!
  11. Zippy is down by a over 200 votes. Start voting or we'll learn the answer to your question!
  12. I guess you can't always blame the refs for a poor performance but with every late hit call we got I thought of the nice apology letter written by the refs after the WMU game. I think the refs were going to error on the safe side and call everything against the Zips that they could. I couldn't see the calls very well so maybe I'm all wet but it just seems that those calls really helped move the "birds" down the field. I also question the play calling. Again, I'm not a football guru but at one point they actually rolled out to the right and had Jacq as the main blocker in front of the running back. Is that normal? A QB blocking for a running back? Did we ever throw to the tight end? What happened to the play with a throw to the back that Jacq connected on with Kennedy? I don't just want to win! I want to smear a few teams so we can get some other guys into the game and get them some playing experience for next year. Why sit on a lead? Everyone knows (especially Akron) how quickly a team can come back. We need to kick butt every game, every quarter, every down!! You can't play a game afraid to give extra effort 'cause you might fumble, afraid to throw the ball cause it might get intercepted. Play to win! Play like a championship team! Or don't bother!
  13. Zippy is down big!!!!!!!!!!! Come on--let's vote!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Who said DK is benched? Did I miss that? I thought that he still hasn't totally recovered from the injury and surgery to his shoulder and that on top of that Williams and Allen have really stepped it up. I have also heard that Allen isn't really 100% either. Imagine when he is!!!! Maybe you're just saying he's benched as in not getting much playing time. I certainly haven't heard of any disciplinary measures. I think we can't have too many offensive threats. CJ7 could be thrown in there at any time due to injury or poor play. Our backs also need to be ready for any injury. I think we've seen how hard it is to suddenly have to replace a key player with one who has little or no experience as in the case of Mackey. When we're winning I hope to see lots of substituting. Maybe it will keep the guys on their toes and working as hard as they can to keep their position. It also helps to get a few guys a little experience for next year because we've also seen that some guys don't make it back (Harvey).
  15. As far as I know we didn't have any injuries this weekend so I think we'll be in better shape this week. Nate should be back full go and Kevin Grant should be 100%. Hopefully Macky's replacement has gotten a feel for his position. I sure hope they work on our tackling technique so there are fewer missed tackles and that they also work on the handoffs. Everyone blamed Jacq for putting the ball on the ground but I'm not sure who was to blame. The ball must have been real slippery 'cause many of our players couldn't hang on to it.
  16. "ZipsZone" is at gozips.com but on the home site not on the football site. I just checked and it is there.
  17. I use Pinnacle Studio/Studio Plus version 10 to transfer my video from VHS and DVD. It takes a lot of patience but is great once you get it done. You can add buttons, music, subtitles, fades, and all kinds of special effects. I forget what I paid, around $100.00 I think but it was worth it. It comes with a little converter that you plug your VCR, DVD player into to do the video capture. The hardest part for me was getting the play speed correct but with your purchase you get a couple of free calls to their tech dept. and they were able to have me download a couple of things (free of charge) to fix it.
  18. Don't forget to vote for Zippy. He's 4-0!
  19. I watched the video on goZips. It wasn't bad. They even did some replays. The only problem was that my screen was about 3" by 3". I sat with my peepers about 8 inches from the screen. A local radio station did the play by play. At the end they kept calling for a review by the refs. They thought his knee was down before the lateral. But all the refs ran off the field and then boom, the feed ended. I'm sure the company that sold the feed to goZips have a copy of the game and probably the rights. I did see it on ESPN2 today but the camera work wasn't very good. I also know that the team saw the video yesterday at films but I'm sure they're more concerned with their game this week than getting the video out to the fans.
