  1. As far as competition goes, I think we will be hearing sooner than later about the direction of UA basketball and UA as a whole. Don't take this to the bank but my intuition coupled with some internal sources say, we are near turning the corner when it comes to an improvement.
  2. I think any connection between LJ and UA is mostly in the imaginative minds of a few. There is no real connection there. Some just want there to be.
  3. you are right about that. The last time the MAC was updated was when I was in grad school at Can't back in '78 I believe. I don't think the JAR even existed at that time.

  5. I have to admit, the question of whether he openly recruits for Akron as he does trendy colleges remains. KD's stealth posture aside, I'd like to see a public acknowledgment of who L.J. specifically recruited for The University of Akron. It's an honest question and doesn't discount the good he does for the city. Also, glad to see that he no longer refers to our university as "Akron U". He apparently has a good editor. I recall his reference to the Gulf Coast as "the Gulf Stream".
  6. Been to Springfest between 6 and 8. So far it should be called Nerdfest with very few students and people in general. Currently hearing the fireworks which are a distraction instead of an attraction. Love my university but want to be honest. UA is an embarrassment when compared to Can't State, OU, OSU and UC. We've been here for almost a century and a half and we still refuse to grow. The celebration of Spring is an old tradition at UA but some dishonest administrators want to create the illusion that it is new in order to justify their jobs, Nothing could be further from the truth. Fireworks have been a long tradition at UA at homecoming, winter weekend and Spring weekend. Same shit different day. Stop the smoke and mirrors or do you like the drop in enrollment? Just got back after Owl City band performed (11:35PM)...horse of a different color. It was a pretty good show and I have to admit that I enjoyed myself. The stage was up against and faced the west end of the stadium on the 50 yard line. The majority of the students sat in the "priority reserved section" on the first tier and some in the same location on the second tier. I'd say there were about 1,000 to 1,200 present. It was nice to watch a band from a tiered seating arrangement. Sight lines were perfect and the sound left a little to be desired until the sound people got the loud and clear message that "VOCALS" needed improvement. That didn't happen until half way through the show, but were fine after that. All in all...a fair to good evening. Next year, lose the rest of the bull and focus on the final act. Corny carnivals are a dime a dozen and are not needed and from what I can tell not wanted at The University of Akron.
  7. Good for him and good for St. Vincent/St. Mary. And, please put no more lipstick on that turd known as the JAR!
  8. Your assessment is without merit. The ads appeared well before I posted anything about them. If they are targeted at all, the target is the author of the Owl City Clip and not the viewer of the clip. I did however, notice that the ads change on occasion to education in other fields, but the predominate ad is for studying to be a "christian minister".
  9. I have tickets if anyone is interested. They are at no charge. Just message me and let me know where you would like them dropped off. I'll do my best.
  10. Let's hope you are right and others and I are wrong.
  11. Let's say he is found not guilty in the criminal courts. There is still the internal university hearing that can find him responsible and exact punishment on him which can include anything from suspension from the U and not just athletics to an expulsion from UA entirely. It is no longer an athletic issue from here on out.
  12. Actually, Pat is my nick name. It's short for Paaaaat! Seriously though, this is not about one event. It is about a pattern or a rut if you will. No one needs to call anyone an idiot.
  13. Feel better now? It always amazes me how people like you enjoy personal attacks. You strike me as someone who is unhappy at his core. I did nothing to hurt you but you seem to have this pathological need to hurt me or anyone who sees things differently from you. I am not an idiot and I suspect nor are you. Again, you make statements about my position that are not true. Where did I say that I would not attend this event? Again nowhere. Quite frankly, I will be there. You are a classic Christian fundamentalist. The moment you are challenged, you dig out your dirty weapons and denigrate your opposition. Anybody who knows anything knows that "Owl City" is a Christian propaganda machine,. The UA students who conjured up this act are being duped. By the way, they are no better than the UA students who operate the so-called university newspaper, The Buchtelite. They too are being duped and don't know the first thing about a student newspaper. They all need to go if UA wants to have a legitimate reputation. Have a nice life, you unhappy lonely soul.
  14. Are you serious? Is there anything else that I supposedly said according to your less than average reading skills. Then again, maybe it isn't a reading skill issue but of a need to put words in the mouths of others. No one ever said anything about representing a "Catholic" anything. That came from your keyboard and not mine. You sir, take yourself much too seriously. Lighten up! And I thought I overstated things! And I am well aware that UA is not called AU. Not even in the '70s. I was being tongue-in-cheek when mentioning "Akron U" and Muslims and Jews. Take a good look at the UA site again, Dick Tracy The religious ads offering a degree in ministry show up twice if not three times superimposed over the artist playing his electric piano. I think the artist is evangelizing and the students who are bringing him are at least naive. It's inappropriate to spend the public dime on religious efforts especially when it is being presented as just another college concert. The University of Akron is a public university and not a small Christian college. Even someone on this thread posted that the artist played at his relative's small Baptist college near Dayton. That he is a Christian act playing at a Baptist College is no coincident. There are countless examples out there indicating that Owl City is a religious act. http://www.uakron.edu/deanofstudents/springfest/
  15. Knights Templar...that's funny. Aside from my and your satire, I do believe those who are responsible for this travesty are at least gullible. And, if you don't believe that some religious groups engage in propaganda, then I have some swamp land to sell you.
  16. The operative phrase is "our events" and not just showing up. They see their organization as the end instead of the means to a greater end.
  17. Not getting out there at all. 3OH3 was not a Christian group but it was a loser group. Point being there seems to be a narrow agenda with those few people who vote at Akron U (The University of Akron). This group claims to represent the entire student body when in fact they do not. What these naive akron U students do is go to huckster programming presentations by "campus programming magazine" in another state that presents quack acts and stupid Au students buy into them at the urging of dishonest UA administrators who falsely claim to be their advocates. All in all. it is a huckster's paradise. ZPN is more concerned about "students showing up at our events" than they are about giving students events that they want to see. They don't get that it is about the UA student body and their needs/wants and not about their asinine organization.
  18. Right. just go to the UA Springfest web site and when "Owl City" is featured, try your best to click off on the ads that want you to become an ordained minister and notice how almost everyone is warring a cross around his/her neck. Then go on the internet and see how Owl city is considered a religious/christian band. The University of Akron needs to disband RHPB, ZIP Programming Network and Undergraduate Student Government. All three organizations are a debt to the university and unconstitutional, WARNING , JEWS, MUSLIMS AND MORE: AKRON UNIVERSITY HATES YOU!
  19. Back to Owl City...it is a Christian group with a religious message and Akron U is spending close to $100,000 to promote a specific religious belief all under the guise of, "the students voted for it" which is a lie. Springfest is a godfest. using public moneys to promote a specific religion. Also, the organization, "campus activities magazine" (another Christian organization) to which Akron U claims to belong is also a fraud. Akron U claims that they have received the top award for campus programming from this organization for many years in a row. The reality is that one does not have to claim to belong to this bogus organization. All one has to do is vote for their own university over and over again just like Akron U voted for Zippy. There is no sense of quality to their awards just a measure of how many times an Akron U fanatic can tap the enter key in a given moment.
  20. Is that you Dave Liberth, or is it just a bunch of gas?
  21. tand why it succeeds at Cleveland State... is that a real college?
  22. Right, UA claims to know how to teach marketing in its business college, but just across the street in its performing arts hall it demonstrates a total lack of marketing savy. UA reminds me of the lame and comical "Stewart" on "Saturday Night Live", " Hey, look what I can do!"
  23. The problem is that you can't just throw any piece of garbage in the stadium at the beginning and call it progress. The first step needs to be the best step otherwise all UA is doing is putting another pox on the Info. Look at other universities that have acts in their brand new venues. They go big with the inaugural show. Not UA. You would think that with all their overpaid leadership, they could find at least one person who knows what he is doing.
  24. Who is MGK and what venue did UA use for that show? Also, it is interesting and well taken that UA has a knack for blowing these sort of things, yet we own and operate a 3,000 seat "world renown" performing arts hall that snubs UA students most days out of the year but has no problem burning up student funds for the sake of everyone but them....typical Akron!
