It's a good thing that those "motionless, emotionless and quiet" fans down low showed up...you know, the ones that don't matter. Otherwise we'd be looking at an Eastern Michigan type crowd.

Yeah, you're right. Donors to an athletic program don't matter.

Yeah, don't worry about the people down low....they are the biggest boosters of athletics for the U of A. Without them there, we'd see 1,500 supportive students in attendance....on a "record night".

Really good post. For me, I have wondered what happened to the Rowdies... I always thought that it was more than just kids graduating and moving on. This post tells me the answer isn't as easy as just blaming the students for lack of enthusiasm.

For the same reason that some people think the fans should wear school colors (and not the colors of other schools) to the games.

Kwan has really struggled shooting the ball this year - seems like since MAC play started. Sophomore slump to say the least. Yes, Pat leads the MAC in FG %age but it seems that the last 4-5 games he's missing more bunnies. Without looking, I would guess that he is under his season %age over the last 5 games. It is hard to place the blame on one player for a team that uses 11 and scores 75. Forget about who shot what from the field, let's talk about the team defense. They've given up 72+ points 3 of the last 4 games.

I would love to see 2 ranked MAC teams (especially if one was UA) and the rest of the conference be crappy. None of the MAC schools are even close to being ranked.

I am not a band guy either (although it isn't bad at all to have them at the games) but the above is not true. When it seems as if everyone is waiting for the band, the officials are waiting for TV to tell them when it's ok to start, not the band to stop. I can pretty much guarantee that if the band was holding the game up, the officials would put an end to it right away.

That's because it wasn't written on the white board to tell them what to say. (and the students need to quit ruining the anthem)

Good win for the Zips. Lots of positives that have already been mentioned. One thing I noticed was, KD really got a good 8 minutes or so from the 2nd unit in the first half. The starters started off kind of sluggish and the 2nd group really did a good job. I think they got the lead up to 10 at one point. Noah is good. I really like him. We will soon forget how good AA was for the Zips.

All season long we have been reading posts about the crappy crowd. Last night the reason finally became obvious as to why. Jake hits a 3 to put UA up 10, a couple of defensive stops and the under 8 minute TV TO.... the crowd is loud and the music goes off and here comes the dance team to a crappy slow song. Fans sit, quiet down and wait for the TO to end. No loud energizing music or anything. (no, the pep band doesn't get a crowd excited) Zips go up 12 and Can+ calls a TO....crowd is loud, music goes off and here comes the Barnes and Noble contest. Fans sit, quiet down just in time for the smile cam. Now we sit and wait for the game to start back up. I get it, there is a script for every game. But, it can be switched at times. Don't people think about the game and when they place the "smile cam" in the script? and sorry, those contests that they do bring no excitement to the game. Seems like those could all be early in the game or at the half and if not, definitely not in the middle of a run. Oh and near the end of the game the kids carrying the "#K S U cks " banner that was taken away from them from a UA employee, that sucked.

Thank God for ZNO... of course there is nothing in the ABJ about the game switch.

That's a tough week, @Buffalo on Tuesday and OU on Friday. To think that the U of A has to partially rely on GT to spread the word is a scary thought!

+1. 30 wins and a nice resume...and a 10 seed. The NCAA is now formatted for the big 5. Yes, in 2002 Ken+ had a huge year and made a nice little run (that they still live off of)..... My point is, it isn't the same now. The NCAA doesn't want that anymore. Look at what they've done to football. EDIT: I said 12 or lower...meaning 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16...guess I should have said "higher"?

Yep, and I still think that the NCAA will not seed a MAC school higher than a 13. the 2013 Zips won 26 games. Name another school in NCAA tournament history that won 26 games and was a 12 or lower.
