If anyone has tried to turn this political it would be you. None of my argument was based off of whether he was a conservative or a liberal. It frankly doesn't matter to me what political party he affiliates himself with. I'm a moderate who votes both sides of the ticket. I'm not trying to push a liberal agenda here.

I simply just brought up a comment he made and my personal opinion on how I felt it would have a negative impact on recruiting. Others disagreed and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The fact that you called (without naming names) Trump a neo-Nazi sympathizer was political. It is your opinion, not fact, yet you treated as fact.

  2. They do a nice job with recruit visits. Very personalized and welcoming.

It wasn't my intention to turn it into a political debate. I try to avoid those discussions on the internet and hate when I see them on this board. I was just trying to argue that I didn't think Liberty could take the next step to become an FBS power. We can agree to disagree. Time will tell which of us is right.

Did you just want to take a swipe and expect it to go unchallenged? Just as I thought. They don't pass the liberal litmus test.Typical. Say, let's not turn this political...after they already have. What a load of crap.

Those words were never spoken. Liberty has something like 100k students between their online school and campus. I'm well not all 100k are white caucasians. All I was trying to say is that I feel their presidents comments would negatively impact their recruiting efforts and that I don't feel they will ever be able to recruit well enough to reach a P5 level like many here are trying to say they will.

I don't follow Liberty. Can you enlighten me and share exactly what was said that makes him a neo-nazi? (Or if too inappropriate, share a link) Or did he simply con comply with a leftist litmus test?

I hope your man enough to come clean & quit bitching if your wrong, your negativity has to be depressing

Gosh, now you know how it feels. 8 have listened to lost of you pull the same crap for the last e years. Arth has shown nothing to be excited about. Recruits, to date, are not remotely impressive. Leftovers, mostly.

I haven't done any research to know if this is true or not, but from people I know who have been recruited it seems to be the assistants are the ones who are more active on Twitter, doing the groundwork to connect with recruits. Head coaches might have a Twitter but not sure how active the majority are.

Typically, assistants are assigned to recruit a certain geographic are, although they are also involved with the recruits for their position. The head coach is usually reserved for the more desirable players.

  6. If the Zips get 2 decent recruits from this class, they are lucky. Most of the top recruits go with early signing day.

I just hope all of this did not transpire too late for Zip recruits to find another spot. 3 weeks out from early signing day (Bowden firing) was not a lot of time for recruits. There is no handbook for, "What happens if the coach who recruits me gets fired right before signing day?"

Most division II guys are two stars, most division III guys aren't.

You get a decent amount of kids who were academic non-qualifiers for Div I, at the DII level. At D3, you often get kids who are academic all stars but not football all stars.

The only actual football answer that might hold some meaning is that Arth says that his offensive scheme is very dependent on QBs making reads at the line of scrimmage and calling audibles (which he mentioned is influenced by his time with Peyton Manning, the master of the audible). It will be interesting to see how the Zips can transition after what seemed like pretty rigid play calling under TB.

Woody changed the play at the line, frequently. I think with Kato just discovering the wonder of studying film, it is unlikely you would want him calling plays at the line. He might be more ready for that next year. Kato's ability to read the D seemed to improve tremendously as he began to take it upon himself to study more film.

Found an article that summarized his first year at UTC -- lost 3 QBs in the first month of the season to injury, plus a couple of running backs. Improved toward the end of the season as his 4th stringer got more experience and played better.

    For what that's worth ...  :)

This board allows no excuse for injuries.

Welcome Coach Arth. This isn't the Getsy type splash hire but I've said before, winning is exciting. Offseason hire excitement equates to zero wins come September.. let's win some games. Go Zips

I saw no splash with Getsy. Arthxs resume is underwhelming. Let's hope he has more talent than his record indicates.

He fired a coach that could only win 35% of his games against FBS opponents so that is a start.  You were so willing to give TB more time, you can give the AD a season or two to see how this plays out.

Bowden delivered for the U, first bowl win, MAC East title, signature P5 upsets, including first B10 win, most wins in a season as a D1 team, 4 consecutive Wagon Wheel wins, etc.... so far, LW just blows a lot of hot air. The firing of Bowden will only be a success if he replaces him with some one who produces superior results. So claiming the firing demonstrates his competence is ignorant until we are a couple of seasons removed.

    Strikes against him:

    1. No change in game attendance,

    2. No dramatic improvements in the budget

    3. Firing a head coach two weeks before signing day without having a replacement ready. Who knows what the fallout from that will cost the program

    4. Sounds like he went soft with negotiations with Nebraska, despite all of the bravado for the press

    5. Was at the helm when decision to focus on recruiting primarily in Ohio was made

    6. No notable accomplishments

I gave examples...you just give vitriol.  And not a name of an AD who has “changed the way the MACdoes things”....

You gave zero examples of independent  team success...nothing that ties directly to Williams. Plus, it was under his watch that the mandate to focus on recruiting primarily from Ohio was pushed. Oh, but you probably believe the best talent comes from Ohio, too.
