To add...I wonder what (if any) relationship the program has with him and how said relationship is leveraged. I would imagine walking into a South FL recruit's home with an NFL Hall of Famer from Akron and Miami Dolphin legend is a quick way to get their attention. Then again...kids graduating high school now probably don't remember seeing him play.

It's probably a bigger deal to our south FL recruits. It would be nice to feature a special event with him on one of our big recruiting events and feature posters and photos of him on our social media and in jet locations for recruiting.

I give you bonus points for happy hour.

(To tell the truth, I have partaken tonight as well)

Btw, thank Terry for raising the average to 4.8 the next time you dine with him.

I will assume it's the booze talking and that you don't really mean to continue in the 2016 pattern of personal attacks.

I think the only conclusion that can be made from the posts of the last few hours is that Bowden is an awesome recruiter.

Or that averaging 4.2 wins per season over the course of 23 years took a bigger toll on the programs than fans would like to admit.

    Great question!

Alex Ramart (QB) - definite redshirt

Jordan Riley (ATH)love this guy's build & looks like he can jump out of the gym.  But we're rather set at DB so he'll likely redshirt.

Reggie Corner (S) - same as above.

Jeffrey Lubin (CB) - again, will be a good one but will redshirt.

    Zaire Jacobs (DB) - ditto

DeAndre Brimage (DL) - Brim needs a year in the strength program before he sees the field.  But that's normal, rarely do guys play as true frosh on the DL (unless you're at Ohio State or Alabama or one of those hyper-elite programs).

Eric Bentley (DL) - ditto.  GoZips.com lists him @ 6-2, 244.  That's why he didn't see more attention during the recruiting process.  I saw Bentley play a handful of times & thought he looked bigger than that.  I would have pegged him at 265-275. On the field he and Hoban's Jabari Taylor looked like twins to me.

Jemarulin Suggs (RB) - Suggs is simply a great RB but I think he gets red shirted.  I'm excited to see what Suggs looks like 18 months from now after spending a year in our strength program.

Malik Wooldridge (WR) - needs a year to develop more; red shirt.

Kobie Booker (TE) - I'm disappointed they list him at TE.  I'm afraid he's going to be wasted there.  He's built like the Incredible Hulk.  I think he could be an absolute terror at DE.  But, oh well.  Red shirt for Kobie.

Dusty Burkhart (WR) - Great straight-line speed.  But, like Austin Wolf, no reason to rush him out there.  Red shirt.

Which leaves who I think has the best shot of who I think answers your question about making the biggest impact the quickest.  I'm going with QB Nick Johns.  He has a chance to start at Penn State next year.

I agree, but wouldn't be surprised to see the kid from St. Thomas Aquinas play next year. Bowden made a pretty big deal about the fact that he is already used to batting the best WR's in the nation

  5. There seemed to be casting accusations that Woodson's injury was l in his head, last year (Honestly, I don't remember who.) Let's hope they think twice next time be for raking a player over the coals when they don't have firsthand knowledge. Get well soon, Tommy!

Always like what I hear from coach.  It does seem that there will be less ephasis on transfers coming in, transfers at least that have only one year of eligibility.

After listening to the press conference it is my honest opinion that the QB competition is between Kato and Johns.  And I'm going to go out on a limb and say Nick Johns is the favorite to be our starter for 2017.  That's not a dig on Woodson, but coach said he won't be back to practice until June, giving Johns and Kato an opportune moment to grab the position and run with it.  We know what TW is and I hope he gets better soon and the Surgery goes well so he can compete for the mix.  It'll be interesting to see two QBs we really haven't seen in the spring game.

Good questions from someone about the TE.  Coach did mention that it's a position they need to look to utilize more, especially since they added Kobie Booker.  Little bit of info I did not know is that there were significant injuries at that position as well.  The injury bug really hit us last year :/

I agree with your assessment of the QB situation. From what I hear Nelson is extremely athletic, so I don't believe Johns is a slam-dunk. If you are a head coach, Happy Valley is a tough place to start a RS Freshman. It might be a situation where we see one starter for OOC and Tommy is ready before we get to MAC play. It will be a real tough few months for Tommy, while he rehabs. Hopefully, he is spending that time studying film, like there is no tomorrow.

Found lack of questions from the media, dumbfounding. George Thomas is going to write another article about the QB question, and that's it.
