If you like Ohio State so much, then why didn't you go there instead of MU? (I am assuming Miami, but maybe Marshall?). When you attend a school, that school is the one that should get 100% of your allegiance. The right thing for you to do would have been to cut all ties with OSU the first day you set foot on the MU campus (I know I am going to get some disagreement on this from some on this thread who see otherwise). I will never understand those who think that it is okay to root for OSU because they are "Ohio's" team. Those folks are just dead wrong. Schools do not represent geographical areas, only professional sports teams do. There are two football teams that represent the state of Ohio and they are the Browns and the Bengals. OSU is a school. It is either yours or it is someone else's. There's a heck of a lot more that goes into choosing a school than just your sporting allegience. In fact, in the great scheme of things, it really doesn't mean much at all.

That's basically what Terry Pluto said in his column.Good idea...bad execution. (timing)

Thanks...I found the buckeyeplanet site..it looks pretty active.http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/index.phpThe MAC smack has already begun. One bad thing about playing OSU is putting up with this MAC inferiority complex. It would be nice just to talk about the game, but I know that's an impossibility.

Actually Big Zip, I think the special teams gave up that last TD with the blocked punt. Can't pin that one on the D.

Anyone have a url for the OSU fan site?Their official athletic site sucks.http://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/

That's odd. We were in the W 3rd lot by about 2pm. A TON of us. I met Zipsrifle and KentZip for the first time. Others that stopped by were DrZ, Johnny Utah, Z-Pouch and more...a veritible cavalcade of stars!! If you ever want to hook-up prior to a game, just PM me. Captain. We set up shop in the extreme south east part of the W. 3rd lot...about 5 rows in from the embankment going up to W. 3rd...near the tracks and tunnel going under the street.Sorry we missed you.Let's be sure to meet at the next tailgate!
-
There were plenty of good empty seats between the 30's. With a game such as this, why not just charge one flat rate. The entire stadium could be general admission...first come, first serve. This way, everyone who wants to sit together...can.There were so many empty seats in this game, I can't understand being so strict about where people sit.I mean...just look at the empty seats here...

I was in the W. 3rd lot and saw 5 Akron flags flying. Now, we were in the lot north of the RR tracks right near the stadium.Bleacher Bum informed me that there was also a gravel lot off W. 3rd just south of the tracks closer to the Main Ave. bridge. As we were waving to each other, I noticed that lot wasn't very full. Is that the one you're talking about?

I don't think there was a line...for the same reason there wasn't one for OSU/YSU.I guess you can bet on everything in Vegas except for D I-AA football.

Tailgating and game pictures are now up on the AK-OLDIES memories page.http://www.akoldies.org/memories.phpThanks to everyone who showed up. Next tailgate will be Sept. 22 for the Can't game at the Rubber Bowl. Thanks again.I also understand the AK-OLDIES received a mention on the 1350 post-game show. I didn't hear it because we were still in Cleveland...but thanks for the mention!!

1490 airs the Zips games?Isn't that WJMO the urban station?

I LOVE the Direct TV sports package. There's always a college football or basketball game on during the respective seasons. And a lot of them are mid-major level, which I kinda prefer. I agree Captain.I'd much rather see a mid-major game than, say, USC-Cal.In addition, any BCS game worth seeing is going to be on free TV anyway.
-
I haven't had cable since 1992. Used to have the big 8 foot mesh dish before DirectTV, which is great.ESPNU is extra $ with the Sports Package, however, I notice the new Big Ten network is no extra charge. Neither was the NFL Network.I don't mind paying the extra $12 a month during football and basketball season for the Sports Package.

Close to a beer drinking song we used to sing at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house. We tried to form a chapter, but I think it died when we graduated.(I had to look this up by the way)Drink Beer, Drink Beer,Oh come drink a beer with me.For I dont give a damn,About any ol'e man who won't come drink a beer with me.Bring out the old Gold Goblet with that SigEp Heart upon it,And will open up another keg of beer,Keg of Beer! For its not for knowledge, that we've come to college, but to raise hell, while we get some, while we get a little wilder heeeere. For we will drink, drink, drink to Epsilon, and we will raise are glasses high,Raise 'em High! And we will drink to our fraternity, and we'll be loyal 'till we die,Oh how we love our sacred brotherhood,And we will laud it to the sky,For when the day is done,We will drink just one,To Sigma Phi Epsilon!Drink beer!

We're hoping to set up shop in the W. 3rd parking lot for the Army game.Look for the new Akron flag flying high and proud. If you got'em, don't forget to wear your Oldies gear. We'll also have shirts and hats at the tailgate for anyone who would like to sign up.Going to leave Akron at around 3 p.m.Please stop bye and hoist one with us.GO ZIPS!!

Great map Captain!Spells it all out.I'm trying for the W. 3rd lot.Thanks
-
I've done that at a Browns game. You'd actually be surprised how kind police officers are to 2 drunk dudes trying to find another tailgate party on game day.On a side note...According to that map, I was planning on being in the West 3rd Street Parking Lot...**NOT THE PORT AUTHORITY** Anyone else, let me know where you think the biggest party will be and I'll relocate my crew over there. There will probably be at least 10 of us. Bleach Bum...I thought that parking lot down the hill was the port authority...I know there is also port authority lots to the north of the stadium too....but hey, I could be wrong! I think we're thinking of the same place, just calling it different names.

Well then let me officially welcome you mnhouse! We'll be sending out your stuff asap.I'll send you an AK-OLDIES logo so you can change your avatar! Welcome!!!

where is the muni lot? Along the East Shoreway...can't miss it.From the South: Take Interstate 77 north, exit at East Ninth Street. Go north, at the intersection with the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, turn right onto North Marginal Road. Note: You also can park in one of the many lots throughout downtown.

I just checked the Air Show schedule, and it is due to end by 4 p.m. Saturday. That may loosen things up in the Muni lot for the Zips game. Here's a link to the Air show schedule:http://www.clevelandairshow.com/schedules/schedules.htmlPersonally, I think I'm going to get there early and hit the Pit, or the Port Authority parking lot off W. 3rd.
