  1. I was that rep from AK-OLDIES (and Craig, we'll get you that shirt). All of the Wing Warehouse staff was wearing Ohio State gear. Since my money is blue and gold, I gave my waitress an AK-OLDIE shirt to cover her Buckeye shirt. She's from Can't State but doesn't care about Can't State sports.Get this...her manager made her take the AK-OLDIE shirt off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I asked my waitress if her manager was an OSU grad. She only said she was an OSU fan.Not good enough for me.I understand doing what you want with your own business, but this was petty.I will spend my money elsewhere.
  2. Get a grip...please!
  3. the Toledo Blade ran an article quoting a MAC guy as saying plans are in the works to balance the imbalance created by adding Temple.http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...RTS11/709050440
  4. That's disappointing.
  5. What are the people at Hoban thinking now?Do we have a "speed coordinator?"
  6. Word is...the new owners of the Beacon...the Canadians...aren't hacking it....the place will be on the block...again...soon.
  7. Get this...I couldn't believe it...ole Brutus is nominated for the mascot hall of fame!Brutus is not even in Zippy's class!http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewArtic...&ATCLID=1148079
  8. Tressel is definately a Zip!He earned his Master's at Akron while a grad ass with head coach Jim Dennison, a class act himself!Tessel has Akron sheepskin!
  9. Not joining as a full member (including bball) one does not get the feeling that Temple is going to be a long-time member.New York market? I think not. Temple is in Philly...that's no where near the NY market. So, I guess we'll have to be satisfied with the Philly, south Jersey market...oh boy!
  10. Take the Zips and the 29 points!!!
  11. Can somebody get this on Youtube?
  12. Exactly...remember NC State?
  13. Yes...I agree.Friendly smack is one thing, but....
  14. Winking Lizard in Fairlawn should have the game on, after all, they host the coach's luncheon.Schorcher's in the Valley is another safe bet.I would think most sports bars have the Big 10(11) network..if they want any kind of OSU following....
  15. Haven't been there since the Zips game in '01 Captain, but when we were there, the "sanctioned" parties were in the hotel parking lots off Lane St, Ave, whatever. You just walk across the St. John parking lot to the shoe.I was flabergated at how High St had declined. It used to be so vibrant. No more "kegs and eggs" at Papa Joe's!Sad, very sad. I don't know about you, but I hate the "sanctioned/organized" tailgate stuff. Standing around drinking overpriced draft beer with 1,000 drunks is a drag. Any "real" tailgate lots around? I agree, but I hear they're really clamping down...open container anything...even a plastic cup and you're busted. That's why I mentioned the "sanctioned" thing...may be the only option.
  16. 1490 airs the Zips games?Isn't that WJMO the urban station? Apparently, WERE and WJMO swapped frequencies earlier this year (June) ... WERE is now 1490 and WJMO is on 1300.Here's what part of the Wikipedia entry says ..."WERE is an AM radio station licensed to Cleveland Heights, Ohio and operating on 1490 kHz. The station's studios are in downtown Cleveland, while the transmitter is along Euclid Avenue near East 118th Street, adjacent to the Case Western Reserve University campus. It uses the on-air slogan "The People's Station," and features an urban news/talk format. The majority of WERE's shows are syndicated by station owner Radio One.Prior to June 4, 2007, the station had operated at 1300 kHz frequency, where it had been at since 1949. That frequency is now home to sister station WJMO."I knew there was a Cleveland station carrying the signal and I just kept working my way up and down the dial until I found Frenchy again. Wow...I did not know that.I'm going to check it out on the way home from work. Thanks for the info. You never know what station is on what frequency anymore.

  18. Roo Session!
  19. I'm all for that...and I think once we get in our new stadium..on campus...we'll have them.Especially with the JAR so close, we should have a game day pep rally (won't call it skull session).
  20. '82...that is too, too funny! Here's some history and traditions...maybe something sticks to the wall here for ya.http://www.akoldies.org/history.php
  21. A good MAC team plays an upper tier Big Ten team better than a Big Ten bottom dweller.
  22. If you like Ohio State so much, then why didn't you go there instead of MU? (I am assuming Miami, but maybe Marshall?). When you attend a school, that school is the one that should get 100% of your allegiance. The right thing for you to do would have been to cut all ties with OSU the first day you set foot on the MU campus (I know I am going to get some disagreement on this from some on this thread who see otherwise). I will never understand those who think that it is okay to root for OSU because they are "Ohio's" team. Those folks are just dead wrong. Schools do not represent geographical areas, only professional sports teams do. There are two football teams that represent the state of Ohio and they are the Browns and the Bengals. OSU is a school. It is either yours or it is someone else's. There's a heck of a lot more that goes into choosing a school than just your sporting allegience. In fact, in the great scheme of things, it really doesn't mean much at all.
  23. That's basically what Terry Pluto said in his column.Good idea...bad execution. (timing)
