Does anyone know if there are still tickets available? Also, on the MAC board, they were talking about the game being streamed on KZone.Any body know what that is?If so, can you provide a link? Thanks

You can bet that the TOTAL score, both UA and Can't State will be either under or over 137.

WHLO 640 and WARF 1350 are owned by the same company...Clear Channel. Why Can't ended up on 640 and the Zips on 1350 I have no idea other than the Zips have been on 1350 for a long time now.I don't think their format has anything to do with it.Both run nothing but satellite programs with nothing local. The only reason I can think of why WZIP doesn't do the games like WAUP used to is that they do not want competition for the station running commercials. The announcers would be green, but it would be an alternative.

Very true. There's going to be a lot of revenue just from having a new stadium. If the U gets anything near what Canal Park gets for their Suites, that will be a huge cash cow. Not to mention signage and perhaps even naming rights.I don't know what Canal Park suites are going for now, however when it opened I seem to remember they were going for about $250,000 a pop with a minimum 3 or 5 year commitment.Bottom line is our revenue will automatically increase once a new facility is built. We'll make more money from the suites and box seats alone with that huge press box. I know Toledo makes a ton with their luxury seating. We also have to figure in that we'll probably average higher attendance with a campus facility, and we won't have to charge lower $$ for tickets with an improved gameday venue. For the time being, though, we'll have to suck it up with what we got. -
That is a policy I just can't understand. What is my incentive for buying a reserve ticket, say on the 30 yard line on the press box side of the field, when I can buy a 50 yardline ticket for general admission prices on the visitor's side of the field???I went to the BG game with friends so I didn't use my season ticket. I couldn't believe that they made us sit on the BG side of the field.I don't believe the Western Mich game was on TV and they still enforced that policy.they wouldnt even let you sit on the home side if the game wasent on TV. Do you think u should have to pay another 6$ per person to sit on the home teams side, when the benches are all the same hard uncomfortable ones on both sides? -
It is very very difficult to attend weekday games when you have to get up early to go to work.It also doesn't allow you to take the kids with homework to be done and school to attend the next day.I can see scheduling one game per season on a weekday. Is having a game on ESPNU worth sacrificing the gate and fan loyalty?

Fear:Are you sue it's not 640? WHLO?I've never heard of a 650.Because 650 AM is much better run than the "glorified-college-hippie-station" that 1350 AM is! -

Hope he likes working at Steak N Shake cause that's all he'll ever be with a degree from that alleged school to the east.

You win the pool 1990.final from the JARMiami 52Akron 54Game was everything it will billed to be. Close and low scoring.A MAC win nontheless!!I've always hated watching Miami's style of play. I'll still be there though and predict a 54-50 Zips win. -
once again...show of hands...how many of YOU are going to buy season tickets at the new place?...how 'bout next year?
-
Capt., I think you have done a great job with the site. It's a great place to talk Zips.I respect that it's your board and we play by your rules. However, if someone posts an inaccuracy, how about just posting what you believe to be the correct information rather than deleting a post...?

If that's all they care about, then I don't want to hear any complaints about the attendance.Sounds like they completely disregard loyalty, which is the only thing that brings ANYBODY to the Rubber Bowl. When I used to get a free press pass, I would still buy my season ticket just to support the program.I guess I'm the fool for being true to my school.Pretty bold strategy when it's so easy to be an Ohio State fan.You know, I think a lot of people reading this don't understand our marketing department. Let me clue you all in. The marketing department is here to make money. As far as that goes, they are doing an incredibly good job. They are selling tickets to companies at inflated prices and once those seats are sold they never look back. It doesn't matter to them whether anybody shows up to sit in those seats because they have their money. There is one problem with this business model, though. They are selling short the university's athletic future and fan base so they can make money here and now. Maybe it is to raise funds for the football stadium (hopefully), or maybe the administration is just a bunch of greedy bastards (I just spent $400 on books for my spring classes). Either way, they are going about their jobs wrong. They will fail at their long-term goal of making the U a regional power in sports with a large fan base (read: like OSU). They have their money, and now it is time to re-invest it into the athletic department by building a fan base. That's my $0.02

My observations are not so much advertising..just professionalism. It's obvious just putting up a billboard at the corner of W. Market and Miller isn't going to put one more butt in the seats. A tradition of winning will do that. However, if you are going to put up a Web page with links...have the links. If you are going to give your season ticket holders blankets..have the blankets.I dont' know how much brain power you need for that.I worked in TV and radio for 25 years. There's no new ideas there either. You just rip them off from another market. I don't have any problem with that. But when you implement something, at least be professional and have the logistics complete and make your customers problems your problems. One should not get a pass just because they work for a university. These are not volunteers - correct? Then do your job right!

I don't think that argument would work with MY boss.Is there any oversight here?Don't you love the world a academia? It sure isn't the business world. They teach it, but they can't do it.At least there is progress. Keep the faith. -
Why do I feel as though I've just sat through a Western Cult lecture???From the Random House dictionary: "ad ho·mi·nem - appealing to one's prejudices, emotions, or special interests rather than to one's intellect or reason... ."Many who would participate in the forum of the Zip Nation don't because of the ad hominems who cruise the various threads looking for those violate one of their "prejudices, emotion[al] [buzzes] or special interests ... [to destroy the evil that lurks among humanity].The ad hominems are insecure in their points of view and cannot accept putting opinions (and that's all they are) out there for whatever they are worth. No. Once expressed, it is the ad hominem's way or no way. If the world were to be built by these, it would ultimately be a world of one. The ad hominem's over time devour one another so that in the end only one stands.Primarily rational people should think twice about getting into these discussions. It is a perequisite that one who walks down this path have a thick skin. For the egotists who police the way concoct a personal political correctness and embark on a crusade to punish those who deviate. There are some things in life that are worth the fight. But sports and, specifically, the Zip athletic program are not among them. Some of the most strident ad hominems are those who advocate fans support of Akron University athletics. But my question is. Who would want risk sitting in a gymnasium or stadium next to an ad hominem? At least on the Zip Nation people use aliases and are miles apart. Yes, it is the ad hominen's who start the fights and precipitate violence among fans at athletic contests. To be fair with the ad hominems, I observe there is a bit of the ad hominem in all human beings. It is the unchecked ad hominems who should worry all of us. These folks are very dangerous people! The great lament is that presumably the Zip Nation ad hominens, to one degree or another, have historical or current connections to a institution of higher learning. Apparently, Rational Discourse 101 was not one of the courses they took at Akron University or what other universities they may have attended. How many ad hominems are there in the Zip Nation? Hard to say. But it only takes one working with a vengeance to make dialogue utterly impossible. If there ever is a place for "political correctness," perhaps, this is it. Those of us who treasure exchange of points of view ought to wade into the morass and put heat on the consistent transgressors to scrap the ad hominem attaks and just express an opinion without reflecting on the character and mental qualities of those who see it differently. -
It says to click on your favorite team, but I didn't see any links there.Did they make a mistake, or am I missing something?

Actually, I think Ohio State's first opponent is Youngstown State.OSU is probably gonna be ready to take out their frustration of losing soooo badly on the next team they play. As of now--that's us. -
He sure did a great job this year.Kudos.
