  1. We don't want it to look like that high school stadium in Youngstown.
Watch it now, I can't help it we put more people in our "HS Stadium" every week then the Zips. Also can't help it that 21,000 seats and a 35+ loges aren't good enough for you guys. When you have a nicer stadium than us, then you can talk about this stadium stuff and YSU, but right now, YSU>AKRON>Can't State.
Eguins, Isn't it time for you to go home? :nono: The street lights are on and I hear your mom calling. :nutkick:
Truth is Hilltopper, he has no place to go.Have you been to his sorry site? There hasn't been a post on there since we kicked their arse on the court. And when they do post, it's the same 3 or 4 sorry people wallowing in their own misery. So, he comes over here to spew his bull.

You always exaggerate your attendence and everything else about Yunztown State. You may think your stadium is the best. In reality, it is just OK. And for many years when you only had stands on one side of the field, it looked like a freaken joke. When I was going to Akron you guys played in a freaken high school stadium...what was it, Austintown Fitch? Yeah, real big time.If you think it is anything that another university should emulate for their new stadium, you are sorely mistaken.Yunztown's stadium is the last thing I want for our new stadium.
  3. You guys are bummin' me out! Did we use a construction manager on either the field house or student center projects? If we did, then we should be okay because those facilities are top notch. If not, then I suppose our concerns are valid. Did the city of Akron use a contruction manager on the Canal Park project? Again, if so, then we shouldn't be too worried, because Canal Park is the most beautiful stadium in minor league baseball. But the U better NOT screw this up!!! This is far too important a project to be done half-@$$ed. In the current american culture, a U's football stadium is a (THE?) hallmark structure on campus. Thousands of non-student fans do not visit campus each week to sit in a science or arts building. But this simple and obvious fact encourages me. The U absolutely must realize this. Thus, they absolutely HAVE TO make this football stadium a gem of a facility. And if the U constructs to the same standards as other recent projects - the student center, field house, rec center, the new liberal arts facility, the new honors dorms - then I don't thind we have anything to be worried about.
Good points and I hope you are right. :thumb:
  4. However, there is no freaken way the Gateway Conference...the I-AA GATEWAY conference is better than the MAC.
No, they're not. However, I believe a couple of the top teams in that conference would fare better than Buffalo or EMU has lately.
I think that goes without saying...just as the Top MAC teams are better than some of the Big 10(1) scrubs.
  5. Youngstown State: 76Loyola (Chicago): 71YSU Has won 5 of their last 6 games, the only loss by 1 to Robert Morris. The Penguins improve to 7-7 on the year!BTW. Never did I say that the Gateway was better than the MAC. And about my forums, they are brand new, if you wanna read the old shitty ones, search ysupenguins on google.]SEE YOU TUESDAY!GO GUINS
You are a bit presumptuous.Where was that attributed to you?Don't you read your own Web site? :nono:
  6. The Horizon is a better basketball league this year.
True. However, there is no freaken way the Gateway Conference...the I-AA GATEWAY conference is better than the MAC. This goes to show you how far they'll reach in an attempt to gain a little respect.Hey Youngstown, you earn respect, you don't get it by crying like a baby demanding it.
  7.:lol::lol: No wonder we have these ysu people here. check out those pathetic excuses for forums. I think there's about 4 posters on the entire thing. YSU seems to have some sort of inferiority complex to the Zips. They think we have a rivalry.... They think the "Gateway Conference" is a better conference than the MAC in football...They think the Horizon League is a better basketball league. They think the Zips are afraid to play at ysu. Could it be you're 1AA?Oh wait...I'm sorry. I respect your opinions.:rofl::rofl:
Rowdy...don't you know everything YSU has and does is better than anything in the world? These people have such a big chip on their shoulder that all they think about is hating Akron, hating Can't State and hating the MAC. They just come off as a bunch of big crybabies. They should stop and listen to themselves sometime.:cry::cry: Rather than being secure in their own situation and root for their team, all they do is wallow in their own misery and blame everyone else while trying to pump themselves up into some sense of self esteem.
  8. So, does anyone know when the north student section (in the bleachers) became a daycare center?  I sat up there for a few minutes before coming down to the Rowdies, and I swear more than half of the people there were under 10 years old, and looked like they had no idea what they were doing at the JAR.  The parents just sat there looking annoyed, and didn't try to get the kids into the game at all.  That was pathetic.Oh, and Bleacher Bum, you were louder than the entire crowd over the course of the game.  Good job. :thumb:
I don't know if you have any kids, but you don't get them into the game when they're under 10.I hear what you're saying and the parents shouldn't just let their kids run wild, however, with all the issues we have with attendance, I'm just happy they were there. ;)
  9. In response to how our season was so bad, after last night's FSU victory over UCLA, I came up with an equation...  Akron beat NC State, NC State beat FSU, FSU beat UCLA, UCLA beat USC.  Now I'm a firm believer that Michigan could have beat OSU earlier this year, especially if that game is on a neutral site.  So if USC beats Michigan, Akron will therefore beat OSU next year.
Sounds better than the BCS formula!:lol::lol:
  10. I have asked several stores why they don't carry University of Akron apparel, and received a reply I don't understand and am not sure that I believe, but it was the same answer.   I was told that several years ago the University "took over their own brand marketing" and that to purchase the right to sell Zips apparel was just to expensive versus the amount of sales.    Huh?????
I think this is absolute nonsense. "To purchase the rights to sell Zips apparel" is not a significant consideration to retailers. It consists of a small percentage of royalties on sales. Every NCAA school has virtually the same legal rights, which prevent copycat merchandise. I'll bet you OSU makes a higher % of sales than any MAC school (remember the war between Cowlumbus and OU over the rights to the letter "O"?), yet that doesn't prevent them from making something like $100M/year from merchandising. Now to get back to 81's original post: Imagine if a student actually took this "Buckeye Holiday" to its politically correct OSU-hating end, and arrived at school decked out in Florida orange! That might be playing with fire -- like the kid who was suspended for wearing a Pepsi T-shirt to school on Coke day. :P Happy politically correct holidays all!
Z.I.P.You just gave me a good idea!!! :thumb:
  11. zip81 - I originally was but later switched to education.  I've DJed and done sports at WZIP for about 6 years now though, just for fun though.  :
That's great.I was a media major...Was sports director at WAUP in '79 and did the Zips play by play in football and basketball. Had a blast. You know that WAUP banner in the WZIP museum..well, that's the one I used to hang from the Rubber Bowl press box...it was a bit newer then. :D
  12. Hey guys...just thought you all might be interested. Today from 10-1 I'll be returning to my old stomping grounds to guest host a sports talk show on WZIP, 88.1 FM locally. You can also listen at www.wzip.fm.We'll be taking calls, so please feel free to join us on the program - 330-972-8888. The first hour will probably focus on NCAA/Zips, the 2nd on MLB/NBA, the 3rd on the NFL/Browns.Thanks!
    Sgm...were you a media major?
  13. You are right sgm...I was at that store in Summit Mall. It is packed with everything OSU. The only thing non-OSU was a Can't State Cap. Now, I couldn't let that go bye...so I asked an employee, where's the Zips stuff? He could only smile. There were Akron window stickers up front by the register.Lets face it, if the Zips gear sold like Buckeye gear, we would be seeing Zip stores. I was able to get in early and buy MAC Championship T shirst on the MAC site before GoZips had them (and sold out).As Akron alums, we tell ourselves that, by definition, we're on the same level as Ohio State...but we know reality tells us different. That is why most people in Ohio are Ohio State fans..in addition...they win national championships.I find the best place to purchase Zips gear is either at the Bowl or JAR or online at GoZips.com.Personally, I don't get an inferiority complex over such things. You just have to accept reality. I like the MAC. I like the level of play. I like going to a bowl game. Last year was a lot of fun. In addition, it's a lot of fun knocking off a big boy like NC State. It's just like skip zip said above...it's the assumption that everyone has to be an Ohio State fan. It's not like professional sports where you can assume everyone in NE Ohio is a Browns fan...I went to Akron when we were Division II..searching for a conference and an identity. The program has come light years since then...now lets win some MAC Championships!!
