  1. You need to go back and read my post. I'm telling you how foolish you are for thinking that all of these high schools players who love LeBron would equally be aware of all of all of the statistics regarding Akron's success over the last 8 years or so.
  2. Ask a group of high school basketball players in Ohio to recite Akron's basketball resume, and tell me what results you get. Then ask them about LeBron James. You can't be that foolish.
  3. And it's being reported that he is about the get awarded his 4th MVP award tomorrow. This easily puts him among the Top 5 or so people who have ever picked up a basketball, and he has strong ties to our program. That also makes him an unimaginable asset to Keith. Does anyone care to put a dollar value on that? Even if he doesn't physically go on recruiting trips, does anyone really believe that his ties to the program aren't known by the kids we recruit? You'd have to be a true LeBron Basher to believe otherwise. EVERY kid we've recruited since Keith has been here is obviously aware of this. And if they weren't told by a member of our staff (highly doubtful), they get continually reminded anyway, unless they've never watched a TV.
  4. Keith has said publicly that it has helped him in the recruiting wars on many occasions. Are you saying that you are going to dispute that? Do you go on our recruiting trips?
  5. I couldn't have said it better myself. And others have mentioned some of the other things he does for the community of Akron as a whole. I'm stunned at the number of people on this board who don't understand the impact he has on the city, the U, and our basketball team. Even if he didn't give a single dime, the greatest basketball player on the planet talks and tweets about U of A athletics. Even that alone carries more value than any amount of money we could ever afford to put into buying PR ourselves.
  6. Good point. There's a lot of "system" QBs out there. I'm sure NFL scouts are well aware of that, and judge accordingly. That may be why a guy like Dalton can post HUGE numbers and still not get drafted. But, I'm glad he's at least going to get a chance at a camp. He's a really nice kid.
  7. If that "impression" is true, I agree that you won't find a player like him transferring here.

  9. I left the game with a couple of thoughts: 1) I thought the passing game execution was awful at times. Way too many throws that should have never left the QBs hands. 2) Does the low score give us hope that there could be some defensive improvement? 3) I wanted to see more of Franco at QB (he got hurt). He looks like an exciting player, particularly with his feet. 4) We have a kicker who can hit from 58 yards out? Unfortunately, that was by far the highlight of the day. 5) I saw some decent pass rushing. 6) A few backup RBs had some decent runs that caught my attention.
  10. Cool. We'll see what happens. I hope you're not calling Wood and Romeo "Centers". And I wouldn't put a "qualified starter" label on a freshman who hasn't even stepped on a college court yet.
  11. I thought about it for one second, and I haven't changed my mind about what I think will happen when the season starts. Seriously, if two guys need to start the season as starters in the paint, which two do you think our coach would pick between Harney, Treadwell, and Pat? Who says that having a "true" Center on the floor is so critical? We played plenty this year without a Center on the floor, and so do plenty of other teams. As my first post indicated, I think people get way too caught up on whether the 5 guys on the floor fit the traditional 5 positions. Heck, the Dambrot era has featured plenty of Akron Basketball when a "True Center" wasn't even in the rotation.
  12. I think I'd rather look at it this way: Locks to Start: Diggs, Treadwell, Harney Frontrunners for the Other Two Spots: Kretzer and Betancourt I would guess that this coaching staff is not determined to put a guy on the floor like Pat, who can potentially block shots. I also don't think they are looking for the best fit at each individual position. Harney and Treadwell have been in the paint together before, without Zeke on the floor. This is the most experienced group we can put out there, that includes a point guard. And our coach has a long history of trusting his most experienced players.
  13. Sad, but true. This franchise has reached an all-new low. The more I think about it, hiring a successful D-1 college coach, who already gets credit for the early development of maybe the best basketball player of all time, doesn't sound like such a bad move for the Cavs after all.
  14. The bottom of the article mentions the problem with complying with the mandates that are yet to come regarding Obamacare, which came out in another article recently. I hope this all stops the bleeding, to some extent.
  15. Q is great with the ball in transition. And Q is outstanding as a guard when it comes to driving and finishing at the basket, in a half court offense. He only struggles a bit at bringing the ball up the floor under pressure. I can live with that.
  16. Thanks for providing a little more information. Yes, it would seem that geographic proximity may be the only factor that's getting players to travel to this game. There must be little incentive for the top recruits to make that the trip to this particular game. My first thought would be that any major recruit would jump at the chance to showcase their talent and test themselves. It could be a domino effect, whereby they see that other major players aren't going, so they decide to forego the trip themselves. What a shame.
  17. It's more inquisitive, rather than an argument. Which, unfortunately, happens often on here. Let me turn the question around: Why aren't the best players in Ohio participating in this game, instead of just a collection of players from Southern Ohio (as you state)? Is it the travel? Or, is the game simply an unattractive draw for the top players? Are other all-star games more appealing? If you know anything, please share. I don't know anything about this game. But, I can clearly see that the list of participants is not a list of top recruits.
  18. This is an obvious reflection of how we looked on the national stage against VCU, because we would beat a good number of those teams that are ahead of us.
  19. Which goes back my original opinion, which was that I was questioning the level of talent that this particular game attracts.
  20. Yes. Wouldn't you expect an Ohio vs. Kentucky All-Star game to have, primarily, the best players in Ohio and Kentucky?
  21. Dave, I have much more hope with something like this, rather than some rogue player vs. his competition productivity index...or whatever that was. Can we honestly see an NBA team putting much stock in that, when it doesn't measure a potential NBA player against NBA-level competition? Thanks for this latest update, although I don't like that he moved him down since his last list. But, I think there's still at least some hope that he can possibly get into the draft somewhere.
  22. I looked at this roster. I question the level of talent that this all-star game attracts, based on the level of schools that several of these kids are going to.
  23. "May not" be the holy grail?? They oddly have him ranked something like 70 spots higher than the others. And where are these other services where he is ranked "near the top"? If we wanted to test the accuracy of this rating system you are quoting, we'd ask ourselves what the chances are that he ends up being the 23rd pick. And those chances are Zero. I'd be thrilled to see his draft stock rising to such a level, if it were accurate. But, we all already know that this ranking is way off from where he'll fall in the draft, if he's fortunate to get selected at all, which would be a great day for Akron Basketball.
  24. If someone saw some type of "evaluation" that supposedly measures a player's contribution to his college team, and it's a MAC player playing against MAC competition, wouldn't anyone immediately have serious questions about it? Especially when it ranks a player #23 and we already know that it's very much in doubt if that player will even make it into the Top-60 players picked? And when other, more recognized sources have that player ranked in the 90s, at best? I'm quite certain that every NBA team is measuring these players in terms of their potential to be productive against others in the NBA.
