  1. Lets cut down some nets tomorrow night !!
  2. Funny. I could have copied the same response I gave to LZip's post. We have to start somewhere, not just the tournament. I think we could simply just use some big wins, anytime, against anyone, anywhere. That would be a good start. Waiting to get into the tournament to try to make that happen, when we've only been there twice, seems like a very limited strategy to me. It all comes down to giving us more opportunities. So, I'll keep begging to increase the level of our competition in November and December.
  3. You're on the right track. How about just beating anyone of any real significance at any time? As a program, we still don't have anything that we can call a breakthrough win. I'll take that as a starting point, no matter when it happens.
  4. Are you contradicting yourself? I'd LOVE to be Gonzaga. If carbon copying their formula is a proven way to the top, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it.
  5. Exactly. This Buffalo team has outplayed us for about 90% of the two games we played against them this year. And they do it playing the same 5 guys for most of the game? It's ridiculous for a team like us to use exhaustion as an excuse against a team like that. I've moved them to the top of my list of teams I do not want to see in Cleveland. I was hoping that last night would be the night that we finally played a complete game. And we did. Unfortunately, it was a complete game in the wrong direction. Going 4-21 from 3-point range is atrocious, and allot of it was just bad shot selecction. Maybe a plane flight wasn't such a good idea. Side Note: What group of officials in the country would see the forearm to Kretzer's lower back as a push with hands? I don't talk about the officials much, but they were blind on that one. It could have changed the game.
  6. This has me a little torn. The idea of being the #1 seed is to get the easier game in the semis. To me, that would surely be Western Michigan. However, I love the idea of playing Ken+ since they would likely be the more valuable victory, and it's the best matchup for crowd excitement on Friday. Damn.
  7. That talk really hasn't been all that "quiet", but I know what you are referring to.
  8. Apparently, they didn't like the overwhelming response to their reader poll, which showed that the Zips would win the game.
  9. It was always on my bucket list too, until I went there a few years ago. It's an unbelievable bowl-like atmosphere. 115,000 people, all on one level. But, this will be an entirely different feeling going there for an Akron game. I hope a lot of people make this trip. It's only a few hours away. It's an experience that nobody will ever forget.
  10. Dave, Again, if you want an at-large bid, you put tougher teams on your schedule to give yourself those opportunities. Simple as that. Yes, if we had "planned" (your word) to beat a good OK St. team in order to get a couple more games on the schedule, then it was a mistake. You want more of those games, you can easily just schedule them. Sorry you're disappointed.
  11. Real Time RPI has us at #35 this morning, with the double upward arrows. That's the highest I've seen in any of the RPI rankings this year, unless I am mistaken. However, Pomeroy still has us much lower.
  12. Dave, I'm don't mean to be blunt, but you can throw adjectives out there like "robust" and "reasonable" to describe our OOC schedule, and it still doesn't change anything. If it's not good enough to give us an opportunity at an at-large bid, then it's simply not good enough. I've been consistent with this position for years. In Puerto Rico, do you think we were really "expecting" to beat Oklahoma State in order to give us two more quality games? If so, then that was a big miscalculation that backfired. Just schedule two more quality games, if that's what we wanted. Problem solved. In a couple of weeks, a bunch of old, gray-haired veterans of college basketball are going to be sitting in a room together, and I'm quite certain that a team from the MAC with a home overtime win against Middle Tennessee State as their signature OOC win is not going to impress any of them. I really don't think these people have changed since they shut out a 26-6 Akron team 6 years ago, for the same reason.
  13. I FOUND ONE: Go to the Sagarin home page, and you'll see the Scoreboard from yesterday with a 23 next to Akron. What a pretty sight EDIT: Well, that's essentially USA Today's information, so that's to be expected.
  14. Maybe Buffalo doesn't look like such a good team. But, it's certainly legitimate to be worried about playing a team that darn near buried us on our home court just a few weeks ago. We're fine, unless they start shooting like they did that night.
  15. THAT part of your post is no laughing matter. At 22-4, and 19 wins in a row, and we still aren't in the AP poll? And nobody gives us much of a shot at an at-large? It saddens me and angers me that we don't have a lot more accolades to show for it, but the OOC schedule was indeed the only missing piece that was within our control.
  16. FAR short of a sellout. By several thousand.
  17. Unfortunately, we still need to play and win again before the next poll comes out.
  18. F-U OU You guys were the beneficiaries of two of the worst traveling calls I have ever seen, and the worst game ending out-of-bounds call I have ever seen, and you STILL couldn't win with an 18 point lead. Treadwell's free throw shooting and Kretzer's Triples were the story of the 2nd half. Still can't figure out why both Walsh and Treadwell were standing under the basket at the end of regulation, and watched the shot instead of blocking out the only guy who could tip it in. But, who's complaining? What a great night!!
  19. I'm looking at ESPNs schedule of games for today. Many of the teams have their ranking number next to their name, but not Akron. Are other sites showing it the same way? Could it be that the AP is the recognized ranking for this purpose? Does anyone know? This is unprecedented territory for us, and I was curious is anyone knows. I was hoping to see that 24 next to our name today.
  20. This prediction (above) has one problem: For us to get at-large, we'd have to lose one more game. And that would knock us out of Top-25 chances in both polls for the remainder of the year.
  21. When you read an article like this, you realize just how crazy some people are when they say that LeBron has had no impact on Akron Basketball. I'm sorry. It's just ridiculous.
  22. I've said it all along. I think we'll end up 1 or 2 good wins away from an at-large bid. It's possible that Detroit might have been enough to put us in the running.
  23. If OSWho didn't have such a over-bloated preseason ranking, WE'D BE AHEAD OF THEM RIGHT NOW !! Look at it this way. The Suckeyes are only 2-7 against ranked opponents. I'd like to think that we would win more than 2 out of 9 games if we had the opportunity to play that many ranked teams. And I'm sure they had the luxury of playing a fairly even amount of those games both at home and on the road.
  24. What a Great Day !!!!
  25. I see it now too !! Isn't that 4 spots higher than last week? Now I'm even more anxious to see the Coaches poll.
