Come on. Students aren't driving an hour to Cleveland because the arena is better designed than the JAR. They are driving there because they want to be a part of a possible championship.

Good post. It's hysterical that they see it otherwise in their own delusional minds. With all of the embarrassing things that have happned to them in their recent history, both on and off the field, you'd think that they would keep their mouths shut and hide under a rock. But nope, here they are

And the jealousy of OSWho fans towards the SEC.
-
Unfotunately, those are all Wednesday games. And the Wednesday game against Toledo last week only drew 3,000. I think possibly the Buffalo game, with Senior Night and an East title on the line could possibly reach the 5,000 mark. But, Miami and BG would be an unbelievable surprise.

What's obvious is that the excuses are going to continue.

I can sum up this game rather quickly. 1) It was obvious that our coaches did a fantastic job of working with our guys to attack EMUs zone. They actually play it quite well, and do a good job of extending it out to cover the 3 point line. But, we were just very good last night. 2) EMU is simply not good enough offensively to match a 77 point output. Another Note: I think their best offensive post player last night ended up being the Steve Sweich look-alike that came off the bench. He made our post defenders look silly on numerous occassions, and earned Zeke a chew-out from Coach D. I don't know how that happened. It doesn't show that he's been much of a factor in their offensive production all year. And that was probably the source of Keith's frustration.

Even sadder that some of the OSWho lovers can't see the bad. Some of you sit here and slam on the SEC, but want to excuse Tressel. Hypocracy and jealousy maybe? Right now, JT is the poster child for lying and cheating in college athletics. That will likely fade over time. But for right now he is being identified, nationwide, as being a part of the U of A. The timing is horrible, and you can't expect those who love the U of A to ignore such an obvious negative.

Excellent Post.

I don't know where you may have heard this, but it's not normally a good idea to smile at another player after you've beaten them, unless you're friends off the court. As for the topic here, I hate to comment about guys jawing with other players, or their bench, without knowing what is being said to them. In general, it's a maturity problem if it's frequent and unprovoked. If it doesn't fall under that category, it's pretty usual behavior on a basketball court. Although, that doesn't mean that I'm pleased when I see my team doing it. On Zeke complaining: Most people think he does it more than he should, and they are probably right. Frequent periods of frustration can hinder your performance. However, during any given game, he's involved in more contact than any player on the floor. And so he is exposed to erratic MAC officiating on almost every play. I think we all feel for him

Lets make one thing very clear here about JoePa and JT. Although what happened at OSWho and Penn State were much different, JoePa reported it to his superiors. JT, on the other hand, swept it under the rug, was eventually caught red handed, and continued to deny its existence until there was no other option.

Even if Tressel can raise our profile, I still want him as far away from having anything to do with the wellbeing of student/athletes as possible.
-
Just consider ourselves the recipients of incredibly fortunate timing, and leave it at that.

I don't know if you are getting accurate information out there on the West Coast, but he is not going to be working in athletics. Thank God.
-
Please. Continue to keep him away from the athletic facilities.

Let me just say, I was stunned when I reached for my roster sheet, and discovered that Pierson was only 6'-4" tall. He plays like he's 4" taller. He's the most talented MAC player I've seen yet this year. McClanahan's comment was that guys aren't taking it personally. Imagine what this team could accomplish if they took their talent, and also coupled that with the effort and work ethic of some Zips teams of the past. We should use Nick Dials as an example. I would join those who want to see a blowout at some point against an inferior opponent to show that this team is capable of playing consistently and battling every play, for 40 minutes.

Lebron moving basketball camp from Akron to Vegas

Couldn't have said it better myself. Right on the money. -
I know the number. But, that crowd was awful. Hardly ever in the game. Probably because groups of empty blue chairs were everywhere in the lower bowl. Both end bleacher sections were practically empty. This team deserves much better than a couple of thousand people with their ranking, and playing an in-state opponent.

Thanks. You just saved me from having to type some of this myself. The AKRON paper reported the facts correctly. Big surprise, right? -

Let me test everyone's memory. Back in 2009, I believe Ken+ had an RPI in the 20s or 30s. They beat us in the MAC title game, so it didn't matter. But, I know we had a lot of discussions about their chances of getting an at-large. I may have even predicted that it could happen. And they did end up getting a #8 or #9 seed in the Big Dance, which would seem to indicate that they would have gotten an at-large. What would happen to us if ended up in that same area in terms of RPI ? Does anyone remember exactly what Ken+'s number was that year? And, has anything changes that would either help or hurt our chances in 2012 if we somehow ended up in the same spot? -

Maybe there would be a remote chance. But, what might be even more remote is the chances that this team could close the season with what would amount to about 15 straight wins (the stretch of games from Ken+ all the way to the MAC tournament final). -
Wednesday night against a .500 MAC West opponent? 3k might be the best we can hope for. Most "Joe Akrons" might still thinks we play in the same division as Mount Union until we can start getting some votes in that Top 25 poll.

I agree. But, as I say all the time, the teams on our schedule thus far are at least giving us a CHANCE at an at-large bid. That's all we can ask for....an opportunity. In previous years, we didn't even have that. Our RPI is in the 50s........with 7 LOSSES. That should tell us all we need to know. As much as some people want to deny it, a stronger SOS was a must for this program to advance. And it needs to get even stronger. But, at the very least, it helped us get better prepared for conference play this year. -

Me too. It might be a chance to beat a little bit higher RPI team, but it's a matchup that nobody will care about, and thus nobody will think any more highly of us if we win. -
That stinks. It's bad enough when you have bad losses, but this shows you can also have bad wins. That's the reason why the OOC schedule is so important. It's the only part of the scheduling we can control right now to raise our national profile.

If it's true, you have to love that we got on the "2" instead of the "U", and that we got a perfect Friday night time slot.
