  1. Okay first off I don't post on the MACBOARDS. Paladin is not me; he and I are just passionate about YSU Sports. I am sorry you guys do not share the same views of me, most of Youngstown, and Terry Pluto of the ABJ.Your AD had to have some reason for calling YSU up for a game this year... Why? Because a game with YSU would have at least 8,000 more fans than a game vs. North Texas....... I am sorry you view me as arrogant, and o ya I am not 12, double that and you will get my age. YSU will bring more fans than most teams on your schedule, including Can't.Go Penguins--Go Aeros------GO INDIANS!
  2. If YSU brought 10,000 to the Rubber Bowl, I think they would have more fans their then Akron fans.... I am told from an Akron booster, maybe 1-2 times this year the paid attendance was actually near what it was in butts in the seats! Now still.. YSU would be the underdog, but I don't think it matters in these types of games. It is a rivalry and for pride....YSU oughta defend this rivalry in Youngstown......
  3. I am really not a tool.... but I hear Can't/Akron fans at work all the time bashing YSU, and I can't stand it.... I've always held a grudge for Akron, ever since they backed out of our rivalry back in the 90s.Most YSU Fans would agree with me too............. You guys are not well liked in Youngstown.
  4. You forget about the Steel Tire Rivalry. If Akron didn't run out of that series, it would be back and forth between Akron and Youngstown every year. Throw out the I-A/I-AA Argument. When you are rivals, with a series going on, you do not just quit it because your opponent had won 3 in a row against you.And once again: YSU Draws more than Akron! That alone would be reason enough to have a game here. I know you guys won't like it, but why not, you struggle to get 10,000 at your place, while YSU gets 17,000 each week.THE ONLY PLACE AKRON WILL BENEFIT OFF YOUNGSTOWN FANS DRIVING 45 MINUTES TO THE RUBBER BOWL WOULD BE TO HAVE AKRON FANS COME TO YOUNGSTOWN.... PERIOD!Your AD Knows damn well you need to get that 15,000 a year mark, as well as Terry Pluto of the ABJ.... And even he says to play Youngstown, somehow someway....O ya... Howard-Liberty each suck....and Cal Poly was not all that good in 02; when they were ranked.STEEL TIRE RIVALRY
  5. Doesn't he have to sit out a year if he transfers? Sit out a Year in Akron.Play this upcoming season in Youngstown. He hasn't started a down in Miami, what do you think he will want to do? Sit out another year, or have the ability to play in 07.
  6. What's with this love-fest? Doesnt YSU have a board? Didnt you just get trounced by Appy State? Actually click my link and you found one.. but who says I can't post here? Congrats on your women beating the YSU women today.. not that any of us really care.BTW: All YSU games were on tv this year, whether live or on tape-delay....ESPNU-PENN ST.ESPN2-JAMES MADISONESPN-Plus-Illinois St.ESPN-APPALACHIAN STATE.
  7. This poster is dead on with all his information. And if I were a transfer.. it's either go to Akron to sit out a year and HOPE to play in the Motor City Bowl.... or go to Youngstown State, make the playoffs and be on ESPN, and possibly win a Division 1 Title! You also have to remember, the fan base and community support blows Can't and Akron out of town, and it's closer for this family.Florida players have found a nice home at Stambaugh... I believe 50-60 in the last 6 years! And if he wants a better shot at the pro's then of course I'd go to Akron, but I think this kid wants to play.. not sit out another year....
  8. Who knows, YSU gets more people to the game than many MAC Schools, and I know quite a few have come to Stambaugh over the years, including Akron-Can't and Buffalo off the top of my head.... Ohio, FIU, Cincy, UCF, Marshall have all played here as well. And remember these scores: before you say their is a big difference.I-AA Montana St. beat ColoradoI-AA Southern Illinois beat IndianaI-AA New Hampshire beat NorthwesternI-AA Richmond beat DukeI-AA Cal-Poly beat San Diego St.I-AA UMASS Lost 21-20 to Navy----awful close!I-AA NDSU, new to I-AA; Lost 10-9 to Minnesota----even closer! With transfers nowadays, the competition is not as big as it once was, at least for YSU that is. We have 15 I-A Transfers. And o ya: I-AA is now called the Division 1 Playoff Subdivision. And congrats to Appalachian St. for winning THE DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP!
  9. Okay I already promised not to tell the YSU folks about this one; but I am told this man is coming to the YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY. He will have won the RB job since we lost our 2 starters at that spot.Go ahead and laugh, but he is one of 14 transfers to contact YSU in the last few weeks; many of which after the James Madison win. Quite a few Big-10 transfers will be coming too.Andrew Johnson is the next great YSU Penguin.SOURCE: A YSU PLAYER
  10. Sorry...not gonna happen. Love to know why??? YSU already outdraws Akron in attendance..... and it would benefit each school....... greatly! It has happened in the 80s and 90s.... Why Not Now??? Would YSU sign a home and home deal with a D2 team? Both Division I Now my friend... Buffalo and Can't and Akron came to Youngstown in the 80s and 90s; who's to say it can't happen now.YSU seats 22,000... Akron seats 30,000. YSU averages more in attendance.... has for years though. It will only help the attendance of each school. Akron tried to schedule YSU this past season, but YSU said only way that happens is if you come here to play too. Why? YOU BACKED OUT OF OUR DAMN STEEL-TIRE RIVALY IN 1995 AFTER YSU WON 3 IN A ROW; INCLUDING IN 1994 WHEN YSU WON @ YSU 41-7!Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Tire
  11. Sorry...not gonna happen. Love to know why??? YSU already outdraws Akron in attendance..... and it would benefit each school....... greatly! It has happened in the 80s and 90s.... Why Not Now???
  12. YSU has already said.. the only we play Akron or Can't is if its a home and home, or an away-home-away series for YSU.So no matter what: only way you can increase your attendance at the expense of Youngstown, would be having to come here!
  13. Hey I am still here:PR: YSUSports.comYoungstown State football fans showed they remain some of the most loyal and supportive in Division I-AA as the Penguins ranked fourth in total attendance and 10th in average per game attendance according to figures released by the NCAA this week. On the strength of playing eight home games -- third-most in the country -- YSU had 121,269 fans in attendance for an average of 15,159 per contest. If YSU would be in the MAC... Make that number 20,000 per game....... O YA: BTW: Youngstown State is building a $3 million dollar indoor practice facility for football/soccer/track and other sports in the next 2-3 years. I am told from a very high up source: that this will help in a transition to I-A in the coming years!
  14. I donno guys..... I know you would like to think that, but Appy St. is the WV of I-AA. Their speed hasn't been stopped by anyone. They are an absolute load too.And btw: The team they are facing in the Championship, UMass, is 13-1... their only loss was 21-20 to NAVY.Montana St. beat ColoradoRichmond beat DukeCal Poly beat San Diego St.North Dakota State lost 10-9 to Minnesota ** and they aren't eligable in the playoffs yet! **New Hampshire beat NorthwesternSouthern Illinois beat Indiana; an SIU team that lost to YSU.The gap used to be big, but with the transfers nowadays... the gap between I-A and I-AA is not what is once was!
  15. Anyone watch ESPN2 last night. Yes it only holds 24,000... but a stadium like Montana's would be perfect for Akron....Just look at this place!
  16. Appalachian State would beat the Zips; at least they would if they played like they did tonight... The only reason they did not beat NC-State was because their QB that is just a freshmen, didn't start until the 3rd game of the year...They are the WV of the Div 1 Championship Division......
  17. Yes. It is true about Akron and Can't vetoing Youngstown State and supporting Buffalo into the MAC. If you don't believe me: call up Jim Tressel at the Ohio State University, or perhaps call up YSU.... I am sure they have the records since they made a big push for it.You are right it was never voted on, because Akron and Can't never let it get that far... It was all about Buffalo. There was a big thread on JJHuddle.com about this last week, and there were some very informing posts on there from those that do know more.I bet you guys also did not know that YSU Tried to schedule OSU in the mid-90s and it was going to happen until Cooper said no.... he did not want to risk losing to a I-AA team, even if there were a champion....Again.. You wonder why YSU made drawings to make Stambaugh Stadium into a bowl.. we were expecting to join the MAC... And I know our AD and he tells me he would love to go to the MAC, but money is now holding us back!AND YES: YOUNGSTOWN STATE Loss today... and I still showed up....Don't think of me as arrogant... just passionate...YTOWN LOVES FOOTBALL
  18. This is another stadium you guys could do: DIVISION 1 [AA] Georgia Southern. If you add about 20 rows to each side like your drawings look like, that would be a nice design!
  19. I know that... Congrats. So pretty much you are also dissing at your own team: the Akron Zips who struggle to get 1/3 of that.HS Football is life down in TX and pretty much is here as well. Fans will go to HS games in the worst weather conditions, that is not the case for colleges I have seen.BTW: Dallas-Houston-San Antonio are 8-10 times the size of Youngstown.
  20. Last time I checked YSU has outdone Akron in attendance for the last 8 years.... And with that being said: You guys are posting about 35-40,000 seats when you can't get 15000 to your games. Start with a 21,000 seat stadium like YSU and if you sell it out, you can bowl it... Little did you know they had drawings made to make Stambaugh a bowl, the only thing that stopped that from happening is the veto by Akron-Can't to allow YSU into the MAC.THANKS!Start small and build up. Stambaugh is nicer than the Rubber Bowl and Dix Stadium---and I am not the only one saying that, your boosters at your games tell me that.
  21. How about this: That is a good design for a start: 21,000 seats. If you can actually fill that... then bowl it and double the size of the smaller side which is approx. 8000 seats.
  22. That's a Division 1 Playoff Championship Stadium right there. Seats 24,000 and is always packed.LOCATION: MISSOULA, MONTANA
  23. I'd love to when they switched that. 99 Buffalo came here. Mid 90s Can't came here, early 90s Akron came here, and since all that.... the MAC has left us stranded since we had dominated them in the MAC.Gimme the rule book, the exact page, and I'd love to see this... Because your lying... I know you are.
  24. I bet now you guys would've wish they had switched that vote. YSU at any Akron and Can't game would be the biggest attendance for each team that year.I know YSU vs. Can't was their highest attended game in 03 and 00 I think!YSU vs. Akron--Another big crowd. Now I know YSU would sell out with these 2 games, and we'd bring 5-7,000 to Akron or Can't for a game... but would it sell out there?
  25. Kinda funny how Youngstown State has almost always outdone Can't and Akron in attendance..... isn't that funny!I love hearing your boosters and the Can't boosters tell me how there stadiums don't compare with YSU Stambaugh---I tend to agree.Sagarins tend to disagree about who's better too----- And last time I checked, You guys did come to Youngstown back in the 90s; as did Buffalo after they went to I-A---another win in the 19-19-1 I-A Record Book of YSU!SAGARINS OF THE 3 SCHOOLS: 60 Youngstown State 106 Akron 115 Can't State
