scout now has jarvis givens listed as the newest guy to commit to the zips, they had taken him off before sayin he had committed to that Fl school, but now it says he is back as a commit for us. Does anyone have the scoop on this guy an know if he will be a zip or not?

I was looking thru this website of Ohio High School football players and came across this guy that Akron offered. This kid is VERY nice. I would love to see him in our program and able to pick up after Grant is gone. Lets make sure we all get there to support our departing seniors, romeo travis and dru joyce. They deserve it, they were the first piece's of the team and have helped it grow to a new level that they havent been to in a long time. so lets show them the respect an fill the jar.

i agree with you uakronkid when u say you believe we have some special recruits. I know alot of people are talking about vince hill and how they cant wait to see, but the person im excited to see for the zips is gary pride of colerain, and bryan williams. I have seen oth of these guys play in hs an their speed is just outrageous. They told williams that he will play RB here at akron, and he is a kid who had the speed to get the corner, or he can run between the tackles and lower his shoulder. He reminds me alot of former Buckeye antonio pittman, an not only cuz they both went to the same HS, but the way he runs mirrors that of pittman. Pride will also be very special. he also has some burning speed.... man i cant wait to see these guys.Will any of this years recruits be playing in the spring game?

i disagree on where the game should be played. i think it is a good idea to play it at the indoor arena if the weather is bad, but if it is nice, why not have a few bleachers put on their outdoor practice field that is on campus an have it played there. Everyone is complaining about how bad the bowl is, then why even use it for the spring game. And plus the game has been shown live on ONN the last 2 years, and alot of the recruits said that is how they first seen the facilities that we have and liked them. and also, i know last years spring game in the indoor fieldhouse alot of the guys that Akron was recruiting were there to see the game. does anyone know if they are going to be inviting high school senior to be's that they are recruiting again this year?

i seen some highlight films of this guy when he was at the junior college and he was a monster... guess he just wasent enough of a monster for the D 1 level.

hey uakronkid, im not a rowdy but i sure in the heck wish i was. i think itd be a great expirence to be able to ride up to the Q with a bus full of rowdies, an sit with them at the game, thats priceless when they all show up like they did for the nevada game and ohio game.....

As of now it will. why did they move it back to the bowl? the last 2 spring games have been at the indoor arena and the turnout has been pretty nice,because the students dont have to travel so far to see it. i say they keep it at the indoor arena.

they were agreeing that the officiating was very poor for this game. and they also said they were ovc refs

Its now time to start bashing the redhawks of oxford. What does everyone feel will be the outcome of the game? I am saying that if akron can establish the inside like they did today against AP, they will be very hard to beat. i am thinking that the spring game will be played at the indoor field. that is where it has been held the last 2 years.. everyone should show up cuz it is a great time for the kids.

now lets hope that the toledo rockets an ohio bobcats can take care of buisness and get them wins, so that our conference will be 8-3 overall and our conference RPI will shoot alot higher then it was before the day started,

only 28 of the 336 teams in the NCAA have 20 wins or more.........and we are one of them :)maybe now we wont have to listen to these austin peay fans on our boards talking about how they are going to beat akron...... or saying that lockett is the best player on either team, or that lockett can outjump any player on akrons team.....

I say we start getting some of these bench players into the game to give our starters a rest an keep them from fouling out.....just in case a miracle comes for AP and we head into OT... Goddard, Mcknight, Carroll, Rybak....... lets get these guys some playing time for a lil bit.

I just read the article in todays beacon journal, and it says akron is ranked 95th out of 336 in the officialrating percentage index that the ncaa and its committ compiles. dunno what all that bs means, but i did notice alot of the lower teams in the top 25 lost....maybe the zippers can move up into the top 25-30 teams?? what do ya all think?

between wood and travis. akron has got 30 points and 18 rebounds and 5 blocks. we are doing a great job of establishing our big men on the inside, and forcing austin peee to shoot from the outside. lets hope that after tonight we can do the same thing when it comes time for MAC play.
