  1. Glad to see that people agree with me. I dont feel I did anything wrong in speaking my opinion to this guy. He was probably just upset because he knows people are now looking at the MAC as a joke. I would definalty forward that reply to the sportscasters if i had their emails.
  2. because they narrowed it down to 32 teams (i believe thats the number) from 42 or 48. but that is stupid, akron should have gotten in with 26 wins, and wins over teams in botht he NIT and NCAA tourney. no one has had this many wins and been shut out of a post season tourney since 1985... we were screwed!
  3. this is my email to him:To: RBoyages@mac-sports.comSubject: reguarding title game.. When the ball is touched after a missed free throw, isn't the clock supposed to start? If you have watched any TV and noticed, the clock didn't start until the Miami of OH player grabbed the ball and turned to go up court, and NOT when it was first touched like it should have been. Had the clock started at the correct time, when touched they would have never gotten the ball off. The officiating in the MAC this year has been downright horrible and you all should be ashamed to be a part of the MAC staff. You guys need to take a long look at the officials for next year! And instead of having just the officials make the choices in a game that it means so much, as it did last night. Have the coward of a commissioner be there to over look the play and maybe then things wouldn't be so screwed up. I know i will never get a reply to this email, but i just wanted to let you all know how i feel. Now we know why everyone looks at the MAC conference as a joke!and here is his reply to me:It’s amazing to me how ignorant your email is. Yes, the clock operator was approximately one second late in starting the clock. It is called human error – something which you yourself have probably never been guilty of in your entire life! As an NBA timer for the Cavs, he has more than enough experience to warrant doing the job and, believe me, no one feels worse about it than he does. In reviewing the play, the referees became the official timers and utilized a stop watch to obtain the exact time it took from the initial touch until the 3-point shot banked in and cleared the net. They reviewed and timed the play while watching the video monitor exactly five separate times in order to be absolutely sure. They found the play to have taken 6 seconds and, considering that the free throw attempt took place with 6.6 seconds, deduced that there was still six-tenths of a second remaining for Akron to in-bound the ball. The stopwatch also verified that the shot was released in time. The four officials (3 on the game and one serving as stand-by) at the table possessed more than 80 years of experience officiating college basketball. Two have been selected to go on to work this week’s NCAA Tournament, one will work in the NIT, and one is retiring after 32 years of officiating in the Big Ten and the MAC. As someone who coached college basketball for 20 years including five NCAA tournaments, two Elite Eights, and a Final Four, I would take any of them on my games at any time. However, I am sure by your comments, that you must have more basketball experience and knowledge than any and all of us. Please do me a favor and also write the Commissioners of the Big Ten, Big East, SEC, Conference USA , Atlantic-10, Missouri Valley , Horizon, and Mid-Con to complain about officiating because our MAC officials also work all of those basketball conferences. For your information, they are independent-contractors and work throughout the country. ESPN, who possesses multi-million dollar digital video equipment and computer enhancing graphics, also confirmed that the shot was released in time. I think the officials did an amazing job considering the intense pressure, the importance of the game, and the fact that they had only a stopwatch and an eight-inch monitor to get it right. Coach Dambrot also called me personally today to confirm that the basket was indeed good. Tell me, Timmy, is it tough going through your life as an “expert” on everything? And, oh yes, you have now officially received a reply to your sophomoric email. Lastly, “reguarding” is actually spelled r-e-g-a-r-d-i-n-g. Imagine that, you actually just made the first mistake of your life! -------------------------------------------------------- Rick Boyages Associate Commissioner Mid-American Conference office - 216.566.4622 x307 | cell - 614-208-8767 rboyages@mac-sports.com | www.mac-sports.com/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Rick Boyages, Associate Commissioner of the Mid-American Conference. In the email he called me ignorant as well as any of ther akron fans who complain about whats going on with the Zips (an the timing error in the championship game). he also admitted that the timer for the mac championship game did start the clock 1 second late, which would have caused the clock to run out before the miami player got the ball off, but it was "human error" so there wasent anything they could do about it, that is why they added.6 seconds to the clock. He also stated that the guy working the clock is the same guy who works the clock for all cavs games, and any other sporting event held in the Q arena. He said that the officials who work the games, arent MAC officials, they are officials that are independant officials who are contracted out, and have nothing to do with the MAC other then being selected to work the MAC games.... did this guy graduate from Cant state, because his email reply to mine is very rude and unclassy. if anyone would like to see exactly what he said PM me and i will send it to ur mail.
  5. Here is an email i sent to the deputy director and the director of basletball for the MAC.When the ball is touched after a missed free throw, isn't the clock supposed to start? 6. hopefully he tells everyone exactly how he feels and doesnt sugar coat it! let the MAC know how he feels!
  7. air force.... why them, they lost their last 4 games. I think that if we had the chance, akron would beat them like we beat most of the other teams we played....by 15-30 points.
  8. Man this is such a sad day in the history of akron basketball. First to start it off... a dumb ass who dont know how to work a clock messed things up last night and we lost the game on a freak bank 3 pointer at the buzzer.... then tonight we get the shaft from the ncaa, but thats ok we still have the NIT to play for....... but then we get the shaft from the NIT! wow, what a horrible day in Zips history.
  9. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT ...... AND IF ANYONE THINKS THAT OTHER SCHOOLS WONT BE COMING AFTER KD... YOUR DEAD WRONG. HE IS A GUY WHO TOOK A SUB 500 TEAM AND TURNED THEM INTO A TEAM THAT HAS 26 WINS AND ONLY 7 LOSSES..... AND OVERALL HE DID THIS IN ONLY 3 SEASONS. AKRON BETTER GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR BACKSIDES OR WE WILL BE STUCK LOOKING FOR A NEW COACH
  10. TRY CALLING THE MAC OFFICES AN RINGING THEIR PHONES OFF THE HOOK TO LET THEM KNOW HOW OUTRAGED WE ARE OVER THE HORRIBLE JOB THAT OUR "COMMISSIONER" IS DOING........ AN THEN WE CAN START A PETITON TO GET HIM FIRED... I SAY THAT IF WE HAVE ANY FOOTBALL GAMES ON TV NEXT YEAR SOMEONE MAKE A SIGN THAT READS AS FOLLOWS....WANTED:SOMEONE WITH BALLS WHO CAN RUN THE MAC PROPERLY!
  11. DOES IT HAVE A NUMBER THAT PEOPLE CAN CALL ON THE MAC WEBSITE, TO CONTACT THEM? IF SO I SAY EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD CALL AND HAVE THE PHONE RINGING OFF THE HOOK....... JUST TO LET THE COMISH KNOW WHAT A JOKE HE IS!
  12. LEAVE THE MAC.......LEAVE THE MAC......LEAVE THE MAC....I FEEL HORRIBLE FOR DRU AND ROME, THEY BUSTED THEIR ASSES ALL YEAR JUST TO GET NO RESPECT!
  13. austin peay? how the hell do they get in but not akron, we beat their asses..... this is outrageous. I am going to start a petition to get the mac commissioner removed. he hads done the MAC an injustice by not lobbying to get akron in there... he is such a joke! so here is to getting a new mac comish!
  14. I was being sarcastic when i made that statement about joining a no name conference As if the MAC is a big name conference ? by what measure ? the multi bids we get year after year... when i say no name.... i am speaking of the OVC ( that austin peay plays in) the caac, and all them other smalllll conferences, the mac isnt by any means a big dominate conference but they should have h ad 2 invites this year.
  15. I will root for the Zips......and only the Zips!
  16. one way we could help Akron right now, is stand behind them and their coach, and not throw the coach under the bus. We could still be stuck with hipser, so be glad we have someone whos goal is to turn this program around! remember the good things that did happen this year....* we did win more games then any other year in zips history.* we did advance to the MAC title game for the first time in history.* we did play ever one of the teams we lost to close this year, unlike in past years when we were getting beat by 10-20-30 points and could barely see 1000 tickets to the games......... so be glad we are in the position we are. and if we do get a 1st round home game, make sure we sell that biotchhh out an show the zips we are still behind them!
  17. i still blame it on the clock operator. the clock should have started when the ball was touch off the missed free throw, and not when miami gained posession an turned to go up court. Even the people on espn said that the clock would have ran out had they started it when the ball was touched.... but enough with the past, not it is time to go out into the NIT and just dominate!
  18. I was being sarcastic when i made that statement about joining a no name conference
  19. Why not have Akron's radio station (88.1 fm) broadcast the games that are closer in this area (Cant, BG, Toledo, Buffalo.) I know that when i was up in cleveland i still got signal from that station. and then have a fall back plan on the AM station that also runs the game. I heard WZIP (88.1) run some of the High School games and the broadcast was clear and didnt have any breaking up like on the am station.
  20. I am just amazed to see how many teams did make the ncaa tourney that akron beat.niagra, miami, oral roberts. maybe we should leave the MAC and join one of these smaller no name conferences so that we can win the tourney an get into the big dance.
  21. The loss was a sort of a blessing. every team had to start somewhere, and making the nit 2 years in a row is the building block for us zips. the committee will notice if we win a few games (or the whole thing) in this tourney, an will give us more of a consideration next year. Next years team will be just as good if not better then this years. we will have dials, wood, middelton, milum back... plus the additions of bardo, mcknight X2, steward and swift (not sure if that is his last name, but the big kid from PA that signed with the zips)* It isnt often that you see a HS PG average 8 assists a game like steward is, so that shows he likes to pass and is a team first guy.* If the Big man we signed is as good as advertised, then we will be fine down low... IN WOOD I TRUST! We will have one of the best front and backcourts in the MAC next year IMO.* Now we can start getting these other guys who come off the bench ready for next year, if they play in the NIT games or not. We could easily be a team that is 7-8 men deep next year, if not more!
  22. yeah they can because some of the days they have 2 a days, and each session counts as a practice.
  23. Thanks man, it takes alot for a Cant fan to come to an akron board and admit that Akron should have won it all...and we were the better team an not make excuses for the losses. Akron an Can't had 2 of the best games in the MAC this year. Cant wait to see you guys next year...... and from what i heard Can't-Akron football game at the bowl this year will be on turkey day again, or somewhere around that time... now its time for payback on the gridiron! ha
  24. miami will be out the first round. i know for a fact that the zips would bring more people to that game had akron made it...... an they would give oregon a better run then miami of ohio.
  25. it is 5:24 in the morning an i cant get that damn freak shot out of my head.... man i thought we were going to pull this out. well im bout to try to get some sleep...... and during my nightly prayers imma ask the big fella upstairs for a lil help with us getting into the ncaa tourney. haha
