We'll split the series with Ohio. We'll lose at the convo but we'll defend our court. They're too good this year coupled with the fact that it is very hard to win on the road in the MAC. We should be able to beat YSU but after what they did to Can't on a hostile court that game scares me.

Here's my answer to the attendance question.....win the big gamesFans are tired of being let down and this loss will probably take a lot of wind out of the sails. If we win against Toledo last year that is HUGE. Our program would have been exposed to NEOH like it has never been before with a match agains Can't for the finals and a win against Nevada would have surely been a wakeup call for our slepping fanbase.

Big Big props to fellow AK-Rowdies....the students who did show up brought the A game!We were only able to fill one side though so maybe a wise move by the department to open up the other section to the public for break? As for the game, we were neck and neck with a big time team. Granted they would have won by a lot more at their place, we played well. Free throw shooting lost us this one folks and we cannot afford to slack off in this area for MAC play.I think Conyers will come along. He made some nice drives to the hole and seemed more in sync out there at times. Wood had some nice moves in the paint and burned Fazikis a few times. I enjoyed that. Travis could have played better. We needed him to sink some free throws and turn it up a notch tonight to get a win. Milum is a Leapfrog! He really gets up there for rebounds and I think we held our own in that category. We just shot ourselves at times with dumb mistakes. Here is some good new though that may make you all feel better. Can't loses to YSU at the MACC!

The higher they raise themselves up, the harder they will fall

Details, Details...So you want Stadium Details?

I think the stadium design looks great. My only critique is that I would turn the grass berm in the endzone into seats. That way we would have a bowl that would resemble Nippert Stadium in Cincy. I'm sure it would not be that much more either. -
If any of this is going to work, the students are going to have to show up to these games and make noise up top. That way, it will make the AD look bad when all the old farts are sitting on their behinds behind the hoops. I'm sure Dambrot won't be happy.

Guess what athletic department, without us students there would be no department! All students pay a 200 dollar student fee and most of it goes to athletics. So guess where a big chunk of money comes from. Something needs to be done by the students. This is unacceptable. These outsiders come from wherever and decide to change everything that made us successful. What a bunch of clowns! Give me MT! Man I hate Cincy!

Woohoo! This is why I love this site! Great find! -
What a garbage abministration this is turning out to be! This takes the cake now.First, they get way to involved in the AK Rowdies student organization which hurts us to begin with and now they do this. How much money do they really think they'll make??? You still need people to buy the seats. The team is going to need all the help they can get against Nevada and putting a bunch of whatevers on the floor that will do nothing but sit on their hands is questionable.

He's a much better x's and o's guy than a recruiter. There are some major liabilities on our roster. Jd seems to have the opposite problem....good recruiter but average on the gameday coaching. These are just critiques. Both guys have shown that they are capable of getting the job done and probably will improve in these areas.

If YSU brought 10,000 to the Rubber Bowl, I think they would have more fans their then Akron fans.... I am told from an Akron booster, maybe 1-2 times this year the paid attendance was actually near what it was in butts in the seats! Now still.. YSU would be the underdog, but I don't think it matters in these types of games. It is a rivalry and for pride....YSU oughta defend this rivalry in Youngstown...... Do you have any sort of life outside of posting on MACbbs and zipsnation proclaiming YSU's greatness to the world?

It wasn't a complete joke last year. It was the best I've seen in 6-7 years of going to games. So things were changed, although everything was working. And now this year so far? Kind of a joke... I'm not talking about last year. I'm talking about the years before the Rowdies.
-
Stupid idea. We don't need another road game. Ohio State is already a loss right there. The schedule absolutely killed us this year. We need a home game. Lets get a 1-AA school if we have to.
-
Ya, splitting the student section is a stupid idea. It's bad enough that the Rowies have to sit on two ends of the court but now we want another section. It's no wonder we are the joke of the ncaa in fan support. Nobody wants to work together. I agree that the rules could be a little more leniant and I sometimes wonder whether this administration knows what they are doing, but splitting apart is not going to do a thing. How hard is it to wear a shirt? Before the rowdies, the student section was a complete joke.....complete joke.
-
I think a few factors contributed to low turnout. For one, this was the weekend before finals week and a lot of people have been studying. Also, we were playing a lousy, no name opponent, not that that is a good excuse but it had something to do with it. I for one plan on attending at least two home games and maybee three over break, and once we get to the MAC schedule the rowdies will come out of the woodwork.
-
EVERYBODY should have Akron gear on down there. I think that is a reasonable expectation but still encourage people to wear the shirts because that's our identity. I remember when we let people wearing the most random stuff down there and it sucked. But if someone comes with anything Buckeye or any other school even if it's a hat or something we tell them to hit the road.

I like what the leadership is doing this year. However, I would put some loopholes in the rule. If you get some rowdy students already registered who show up all painted and drunk as heck, there is no way I'd keep those guys off the floor shirt or no shirt. This is especially true if the JAR is half empty anyway. I say we only reject students if there are enough Rowdies there to completely fill the floor seats. We can enforce these rules a lot better for like the Can't game where Rowdies are waiting outside for hours to get in. Then you buckle down and get the worthiest students below. But I do like that we are building a real student section with organization. I think with a little tweaking here and there we can make this a formidable section in the conference. There will be some growing pains here and there. We need to find something that works and develop tradition from there.

Okay so they didn't pull it out, but they played neck and neck with the second best team in the country. It just goes to show what home court can do.
-
If anyone is paying attention, Buffalo is upsetting the #2 team in the country at alumni arena! I hear the place is nuts. With that said, I think we can take Nevada. We are very strong at home and if we pack the JAR and make some serious noise we can help our team out.

Chill out everyoneWe are in the middle of a six month study. This is a massive project and will be the biggest out of any of Poenza's Landscape for Learning Project. With our condensed location, it is very difficult to find the right spot for a large project. We are not using state money so this soccer thing probably has nothing to do with what we are trying to do. We've been fundraising this for a long time so I would think we have some funds waiting.
-
Notice how good the reserves are doing including possible key contributers, McKnight and Conyers. If we can get these guys going this season we are going to be very tough to beat home or away. We are continuing to look strong in the second half and that is something I wanted to see.
-
The rocket is right! I wonder exactly what we are showing these kids? Keep in mind that we have an architectural firm that is probably churning out some renderings of preliminary plans. The recruits must like what they're seeing. Remember we had a down year this year and you would think we would take somewhat of a hit in recruiting.

Well, looks like JD is sticking around a little longer. Cincy has decided to go with Brian Kelly of Central Michigan. If JD gets us rolling again then we'll look back on this season like it was the best thing to happen to this program. Now we can get ready for next year, and it will be a big one with us traveling to OSU and Indiana coming to the bowl along with us traveling to a beatable Army team.

Impressive....very impressiveJD continues to show he can recruit
