I'm already sick of that chant... oyMy season tickets are so pretty though. I guess I'll have to deal with the morons that don't wish to allow the boy, yeah he's still a boy, to develop into an nfl qb... it generally doesn't happen overnight.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2997669Story about how a former Suckeyes President ripped on that "football club with a school" because of their rioting. "football club with a school" term came from a British acquaintance on a transatlantic flight. God bless him. He actually ripped on UM worse. He refused to hire them at his Michigan-based company.

The rankings have not been posted yet, but here's the linkhttp://nscaa.com/cr.php

Thanks Mike. Sometimes people forget where their diploma is coming from.

Zippy Makes 2007 Capital One All American Mascot

Maybe she finally got that tail lift... she's a little saggy. -
"Brookhart won in his first two years with a combination of players left from former coach Lee Owens, transfers from four-year schools and a few of his recruits. Now, most players are his own."That wasn't an ode... come on, all he was doing was stating the fact that a few players were leftovers from that coaching era.Good article overall. Coach definitely had some tough decisions to make this off season, and I have to say it looks like he's making the right ones. I love the discipline he is trying to instill.

Actually I had noticed the same thing on all the pepsi trucks I've been seeing lately. Considering UA does have a Wayne campus, it kind of makes sense I suppose to advertise in Fredricksburg, since that same truck delivers all over that county probably.UA adverts have also gone up along 77 N and S over by Copley Road- big light up billboard.Anyone know of any other places?

Quaker Square purchase approved today
BZip_08 replied to ZippyRulz's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
That's nothing. I live on Spicer and walk to the CBA and work in National City tower.Actually Quaker to Olin really isn't far at all. And as the campus expands, the cars are getting redirected around students. I can only imagine what it used to be like to have to dodge cars in the center of campus. Also there is a bus route already between Polsky and central campus, so making a bigger loop to Quaker is easy enough I suppose. -
I know info about the cvca team in general but not much about Speas, except his mom was a teacher of mine... and he makes me feel old.I don't know if he was on varsity blue or white last year, but I'd assume blue. Blue earmed their first national ranking last year, 20th in the country. Lost to Walsh, the eventual state champs, in post season. The defense allowed only 10 goals all year. They make an alumna feel proud.

I haven't seen ANY upgrades yet.

I got the email too, and am buying my ticket during my lunch break today.

now the question is: where are they ranked nationally?

Most Memorable Rubber Bowl Experience
BZip_08 replied to g-mann17's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
Some of us might have done that accidentally already.... they broke! The Snow Bowl in 2005 was definitely memorable, mostly because I remember how numb my appendages were. -
The University doesn't, but everyone in their rightmind does see an issue. Within downtown Akron there will be enough parking for game days, but that might mean walking for 10 blocks, which isn't the end of the world. And the neighborhood surrounding the stadium is not anywhere close to the starting prices that you wrote about. Most of the houses are student rentals, and even those that are not don't exceed $200K, except for a couple exemptions like sorority and fraternity houses, but trust me we won't be bothered by lights.
-
In addition to the comment about student rental housing next to the stadium... I live directly across Spicer St (eastern boundary of complex) and we will be so happy to fill our back parking lot on game days that the lights won't even be a nuisance. Money makes little annoyances disappear. There are articles all the time on www.ohio.com and www.cleveland.com. These are the websites for the Akron Beacon Journal and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/ Is a great blog written by a UA alumnus, and if there is any news he posts immediately.

I saw that walkon this morning at 8am walking to the field with his gear. Obviously he was the only player out there at 8... impressed me a little right there. That and the mohawk looks awesome.

I must admit, that's a really cool article, especially the one picture b&w showing the hillside stands filled to the brim- THAT I hope for.

Patriot Bowl seats for Season Tix holders
BZip_08 replied to doccomet87's topic in Akron Zips Football
The reason I'm guessing that they stuck the above season ticket holder in the corner is pricing. Pricing between the 40s is at $45 a seat. Just a hunch. Then again, I looked on ticketmaster and I could still get seats in section 109 row 10. Somehow I think a lot of students are going to end up with great seats... if they come actually.(I'll be at the Indians game... whoops, my scheduling skills are lacking) -
"is a direct hit on our revenue stream." The DonIs he really just worried that he is no longer the most powerful man in town?! (And that his paycheck might get hurt.)Dr. P understands that UA will save downtown. "It's a new day," Proenza said. "They're anchor institutions, they're steadying . . . They're the biggest economic drivers for a city." As someone that has worked downtown for the last three years, I have to say the more UA moves this direction, the better.
-
How about dumbest comment."on saturdays all eyes are on the team from Columbus"Maybe that's because you don't let Northeast Ohio look anywhere else. I'm sorry but until the day it actually changes I will always criticize the Beacon for putting OSU before the home town team. You think Pitt does that? No. Do you think Huntington did that? Heck no. And the Marhall vs West Virginia is a very comparable to The University of Akron vs OSU.Is that saying you take OSU off the front page after beating Michigan? No, but it does mean preseason should focus on the Zips. It does mean a Zips win should get more coverage then an OSU loss. It does mean the Patriot Bowl should get more then the FirstMerit add that has been running in the paper. Amen.

Apparently UA has begun to buy those parking lots there as well. Granted it might just be for more Polsky/CBA parking and the nice revenue from Aeros parking. And those buildings are run down to say the least and at about half occupancy, maybe less. Of all of the sections of downtown, this one actually makes the most sense traffic-wise, and in regard to planning. UA has already branched into that section with the rebirth or Polsky and the CBA as well. And the Don... well, let's just say he's not my favorite person. He couldn't even make it to the press conference for the stadium. The biggest thing to happen to the city of Akron in a decade or more, and he couldn't get out of a speaking engagement in Cleveland. Give me a break.

I love it that somehow there is a picture of Tiger Woods in it... good stuff though
-
Oh it is there and I alone (with some sorority sisters) have probably added a dozen layers now. I might have to try that concrete idea... that's a good one.
