This is embarrassing.

Trimble for 3! Let’s get drunk!!!!
-
A lot of really stupid turnovers and poor execution, but we’ll take it. Nice half for Clarke. Worst half of the year for Trimble. Cut down on the turnovers and lock this one up early in the second half. Please and thank you.

This is reminiscent of those Flo sports streams from the Florida atrocity, only these guys haven’t mentioned that KJ Walton doesn’t shoot threes very often a bunch of times
-
That’s my boy, Garv!
-
Not sure which is more streaky, Trimble’s shooting or defense. He’s looking more and more like Utomi as the games go by.
-
Freeman has as many turnovers as points

This is like a hockey game. You leave to go to the bathroom and get a beer and come back to the same score.
-
These offensive starts are getting worse and worse
-
Zip bigs getting owned down low. Trimble 0-3 on good looks.
-
Trimble 0-2. First bucket comes over 3 minutes into the game.

Here we go again….

Class of '22 Verbal Commits
LoyalZIP replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
When he's in the portal next year after those clowns get fired I bet JoeMo is the first one to call him -
The Zips are currently 13-point favorites heading into this one. I don't see any reason why it would be too much of a struggle, but we all know how this group can be so hard to figure out. I would like to see a nice enough lead for the guys on the bench to come in and get significant minutes to give the starters rest ahead of their biggest test of the season on Friday, and I would simply like to see Clarke develop as a leader on the floor. I know he can do it, he had so many great moments last year. But it's been slim to none this year. Also, I've really liked what I've seen from Aziz, so continuing to grow him can add another wrinkle that teams will have to worry about moving forward. With all of that said, this is just a place that's never easy to win at. Between the bus ride being so long and the weather being so brutal even by Akron standards, a few good Zip teams have gone on road trips to abysmal Directional Michigan schools and come back with embarrassing losses. Go Zips!

Looking into this one, their leading scorer Jermaine Jackson left the program to begin prepping for his pro career.

You could see the look in his eyes of a scared man when he was lining it up. Knew for a fact that thing wasn't going to fall.

They found a way. Groce on the post game was much happier about the controllable things than Tuesday, but obviously execution was awful. Looking closer at the stat sheet, tonight it is as alarming as it has been all year the lack of depth. The only two bench points tonight came from a pair of Aziz free throws. Dawson turned in a poor performance overall and Clarke missed an open 3 that would’ve been really good for him with how he’s playing. I don’t think it’s possible for a team that runs with this little depth to win a MAC tournament, which has become my biggest concern. All the pieces were there at the start of the season, but significant ones have fallen off the ship and I’m very uneasy about this team moving forward. I may start to change my mind if they can win a pair this week, but at this point CMU scares me to death with how up and down the shooting and execution has been. Every game is the same I guess, just control what you can control.

Way too close for comfort. Lots of big open 3s missed by Trimble in the 2H, but a win is a win is a win. Great second half D, very impressive. This team is so tough to figure out, but I wasn’t expecting to get all three Ws this week the way they’ve been playing. EMU is tough and they’ve got the right coach to turn that thing around. Keep it rolling, on to Mt. P. Go Zips!

This ***** team. UGH.

Happy Gameday! Again! The Zips have been HOT for the last 42:40 of basketball they've played, and this is a big one in my eyes. Well, they're all big at this point. I don't really expect anything to be easy especially with this team that has been so difficult to figure out. As Groce said on the Thursday post game, it will be very strange to not see 2-3 zone today. A big thing I have my eye on is once again 3-point shooting. I've been following along on the shooting trends by our three best shooters--Trimble, X, Ali. Stats are from ESPN Home 3pt. FG percentages: Ali--37.8% Trimble--31.6% X--36.4% Away 3pt. FG percentages: Ali--56.3% Trimble--43.9% X--40.7% This seems quite odd and out of the ordinary and I don't really have a good explanation. I just find it interesting. It would be nice to comfortably cover the -11 spread tonight and finally take care of business against a MAC team at home instead of fighting for our lives against everyone. Thursday gave me hope, I want to believe in this team.

Hell of a win and performance! I was thinking “here we go again” early on but the Zips string together one of their best 30 minute stretches of the season. Great post play, great shooting, great defense on the guards. That was everything it needed to be. So happy for those guys and for Brandon Ford, though I don’t fault Groce for getting upset at him. Huger is a good dude but I’m sure he understands. That right there is why Trimble needs to let it fly whenever he has space. Akron won’t lose when he’s hot. Jinx. Where’s that BG poster now?? I’ll read through their thread tomorrow. I’ve owned you all my life!!!! 😂😂 Quick turnaround and a “trap game” if there ever was one on Saturday. Let’s get it! Go Zips!
-
What happened to the defense that’s the foundation of the program?
-
Weird take from a BG fan, that’s for sure.

Absolutely love Huger, he's got to be one of the most gentle and good people to coach the game of basketball. With that said, that can kind of be his downfall sometimes as he tends to play a set-in-stone rotation to get everyone their playing time. In past years, they've played a big rotation to give the illusion of depth, but they don't have a ton of talent. Through 5 MAC games, Akron has trailed at the half in all of them. That isn't good. Even with the good start on Tuesday, we saw defense allow 44 points in the first half, albeit on a lot of really tough shots. I don't know what to expect tonight. I just want to see classic tough all around Groce basketball with defense that leads to offense. The Zips have the talent advantage, I want the game to look that way for 40 minutes. The Falcons opened at -2.
