  1. You’re 1000% right. Thought Miami totally blew it in regulation and Kent is far from perfect, Lewis has found the formula to have sustained success there. Sure they lost a couple MAC games by 20+, but they were a clear favorite from the start and delivered. And they went undefeated at home. It makes me sick, sick with jealousy. Akron has never had the swagger that they possess.
  2. Flushes are about to win the East.
  3. Norrils is a rare D1 football player on this roster
  4. Virshon Cotton ain’t walking through that door!
  5. I’d have to imagine that the search is probably just about done, and they’re just waiting for the season to end. If I had to guess, Monday or Tuesday will be the day.
  6. We made it to the end. Thank you @clarkwgriswold for always being on top of it and getting game threads up, and thank you to Zipsnation for giving unreasonably enthusiastic Akron fans like me a place to come discuss this disaster every day. I feel terrible for the coaches and players that are left and have to suffer through this trip. I’d like to say thank you to all the guys that played and coached their asses off all year, whether they were any good or not. At the end of the day, most of the guys still here are coaching knowing they’re about to be out of a job. That sucks. I’m laying 28.5 today, but I’d love to see some fire to end the season on some kind of high note. That was my hope last week, and we know how that went. New coach should be named in a couple of days, the future starts now! Go Zips!
  7. The article is interesting. I wouldn’t really be blown away with excitement by too many of the guys on that list. I’d be pumped about Getsy, but he seems like more of an afterthought after reading that. I’m just ready to get this last game over with and move on. The future is now, and the quicker the guy gets in his office, the better.

  9. Zips win and cover! This was far from impressive, but the Zips toughed it out even when they couldn't get looks they wanted in the second half. Evansville played really tough in the second half and played well enough to win, they took advantage on nearly every one of Akron's busted coverages defensively. I'm hoping that Groce has tought Tribble a lesson and given him some confidence. He was far from great today, but certainly much better. At the end of the day, the Zips need more from their guards. Clarke, Tribble, Walton (more of a forward, but still) and even Castaneda aren't leading the offense or making anything happen. This group lacks chemistry and it shows. Thank goodness they have a week to look in the mirror before their next test. I hope they can enjoy their Thanksgiving! Speaking of, it would have been a miserable holiday going into it with three straight losses. Even though it shouldn't have come to this, I'm going to try to enjoy it regardless. Yikes, I'm starting to sound like I'm talking about an Akron football win!
  10. This last 5 minutes of defense has been appalling.
  11. Now they give up a three. Doing literally everything they can't afford to do. How fitting.
  12. Two straight and-1s for Evansville, both caused by Freeman. Oh boy.
  13. Zips lead 57-47 at the final media. Ali with a pair of FTs coming up. I don't think we've seen any Clarke and not much X running the point. I feel like Groce is forcing Tribble to play it out. He's just not finishing at the basket, it's like he's afraid to use the back board.
  14. I think Greg is playing well but he's got the ball in his hands too much right now. Bad offensive foul there after forcing a nice turnover. Come on, boys.
  15. Now Aziz nails a pair!
  16. Tribble goes 2-2 at the stripe, of course
  17. Why would Walton finish the and-1?
  18. Offense has reverted to unwatchable
  19. Horrible sequence to start the half. Not a single good jump shot taken almost 5 minutes into the half, and the defense hasn't been stellar. Zips are lucky to be ahead.
  20. Technical on Groce. More free points for Evansville. Zips second half starts have been disastrous this week.
  21. Zips refuse to step out on Smith and he's keeping them in this.
  22. Offense constipated to start the second half and Evansville hits a three to trigger another Groce TO. 33-23. Tribble gets to the basket just about whenever he wants to, but doesn't know what to do with it when he gets there. He just tosses it at the rim hoping it goes in. Cheese was a master of layups, I wish he would have shown Tribble his ways. There's zero finesse.
  23. Zips up 33-20 at the half. Great defense, great outside shooting, horrid free throw shooting. I guess the trade off today is we're taking the outside shooting and giving away the freebies, so I feel less bad about having to shoot this well to have a lead. Defense has been really good. They hit a bunch of contested shots early on, but made them less down the stretch. I'd have to look at the stats, but it feels like they're giving up quite a few second chance points. Tribble is playing well, only a couple of bad shot attempts. Ali on fire. Trimble cooled off a bit. Overall, solid half of basketball but this team still has a long way to go today.
  24. 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🍻
  25. The foul shooting is next-level bad. 6 misses in a row by good shooters.
