This really didn't have anything to do with the outcome of the game. The assumption is they block the kick...Punts rarely get blocked. The other assumption is the score...They had zero timeouts and they would have been kicking into the wind. BG is a good team and good teams rarely let things like blocked punts happen...That's why they are good teams.

That last INT was a perfect example of BG being a contender and UofA being a pretender. Jump ball and the BG defender goes up to catch it like someone who wants to play for the league championship. Our guy goes up for the pass like he is in practice and the ball should just fall in his arms. Completely confused by another player actually competing hard against him. Our WRs are soft.
-
Just threw a pass over the middle and completed it. Then we ran to the left for a TD. If I can figure it out in SC, why does it take them so long to figure it out?
-
No. They are just getting their asses kicked by a better team. It's the difference between contenders and pretenders.
-
Announcers make it sound like it is impossible to pass. 10 miles away, Toledo has three TD passes.

My only beef with play calling is they had some success running to the left between the center and tackle. They seem to have the defense blocked. Let's get back to that. Running right has been too difficult and they aren't getting everyone blocked. I have no problem with the pass plays called. More passes over the middle. Need to do a better job of catching. I know it's raining, but this is a big game and guys need to produce in big games if we are ever going to become anything other than pretenders.

It was 4th down.

Have had success running left. Seem to have blocking scheme figured out. Run left.

Me too. The luckiest woman in the world, Mrs. GP1, recently bought a 66" Samsung Curve with a new receiver, surround sound, some device that allows us to play video off of the internet through our Apple devices, etc. Not sure how much it cost and it's probably best that way....(Sort of like our last trip to Vegas when we stayed at the Wynn. While I was at a convention, she did a little day drinking at the pool, saw a purse she wanted in the window of one of the shops on the way back to the room and said to herself, "I'm buying that". I'm not allowed to know how much the purse cost.)...Anyhow, whatever the cost was, I will be watching the game on it.

If weather is going to be a factor, it will be critical to get an early lead and force BG to be one dimensional late. Hope they poop pants late. First team to score sets the pace and wins.

Link Bowden had some pretty good success in the state of Alabama. Something tells me if we can get to six wins, this bowl is ours. Seven+ wins would open up more doors. We are pretty new to this, but at a lot of schools, the talk of which bowl their school will play in goes on all year long. It's a good thing.
-
Does having a better record than another school guarantee a school a spot? Or, does getting to six wins and having a bowl that may really want you put you in a spot to get a bid to that bowl over a school with a better record?
-
Can someone breakdown bowl scenarios for the MAC? And I don't mean internet projections. Looking for which MAC bowls have discretion as to who they invite and whether or not having the best record gets a school into a bowl game.

Does it cost money in terms of lost revenue?....Yes. It will cost them roughly $20,000 in lost revenue. In the grand scheme of things, $20K isn't much money. This article places the UofA annual budget at $364.5 million. 20,000/364,500,000 = 0.00005. Students have been asked to pay more than their fair share for the "building process". If four of them get some of it back in the form of a tuition reduction, I'm all for it. UofA attracts the kind of student in many case that would greatly benefit from this tuition reduction. I'm glad they are doing this in lieu of another stupid bobble head give away. My God, landfills around the country must be filling up with bobble head dolls faster than diapers.

It is a very odd number (-5.5) and either someone knows something or the odds makers are truly playing the low risk 50/50 game and banking the vig for an early start on the weekend. I really don't see this as being a close game, but then again there is that guy who sets the line and gets paid to know more than I do.
-
I have to admit, I think this is a great idea. I don't know if it will drive student attendance or not, but it is a good try. Certainly more valuable than a stupid bobble head doll. There is no real cost to it, just like giving away a bobble head. Typically, bobble heads are sponsored by a company and it doesn't cost UofA anything to have them produced. Free tuition isn't something that will cost the University any real money either. The cost of having a class will not increase because they were going to have the class anyhow. There will be just one person who doesn't have to pay to go to the class. It is a transfer from the Athletic Department to another department.

Lee Corso saying, "Somebody knows something we don't know" is ringing through my head right now.

You might want to reconsider these two comments.

Sounds depressing. I'll pass.

Might be a good question....

I'm finding myself increasingly less interested in this game than I was even a week ago. Am I the only one?
-
It's one yard (one step), not one mile.

I find it interesting now that the size of LB is going down because of the rule changes. This is a good thing. I find his comments about "sissify" the game comments foolish though. We hear this a lot from old timers. I ignore them because most don't understand the modern game. Case in point, what does Mike Ditka offer in terms of explaining the modern game to ESPN viewers?...and Tom Jackson for that matter. An athletic contest is about people displaying athletic ability, not reaching out and grabbing people, which takes very little athletic talent. Case in point, old men at strip clubs. The Mel Blount rule introduced athleticism into football and forever made the game more athletic. There was one player though who completely thrived after the adoption of the Mel Blount rule.....Mel Blount. He made more Pro Bowls after the bump rule (3) than before (2). He was able to do that because he had the athletic ability to adapt to the rules that his peers did not have. Getting back to concussions, I think things like eliminating the three point stance, forcing the d-line off the ball one yard, weight limits, etc. would make the game even more athletic because we would see much more mobile players on the field and we would also see a safer game. I don't buy that rule changes would make the game worse. Eventually, those who can't adapt to the rules will phase themselves out of football and those who can adapt successfully will be the people we see on TV. Not sure how the elimination of the three point stance would work though. Maybe the moving the line one yard off the ball and keep the three point stance is the answer, or the other way around. Do one or the other.?.? What do you do about the center who has to stand with his head in front of him to reach the ball? Lots to think about and the people in charge of the NCAA and NFL need to hunker down and start thinking.

No. I'm just interested to see what coaches have to say. Would be interesting to see if there was a comments section where the supervisors could enter in information about why their decisions were made. What's wrong with that? I'm not interested in how they make their decisions. I'm interested in why people make the decisions they do. Some say this is about betting and fixing games. Maybe, but if the public knew exactly what was going on before the season started and why those decisions were made, how would that be underhanded? To me, bringing things into the sunlight reduces the risk of corruption. Sounds like a decent hacker could have gotten into this website in about five minutes and these guys get suspended for a year? Doesn't make sense to me unless they are worried about something else.
