  1. QB, the RB that fumbled after our QBs first interception, etc. You're making a classic mistake of modern day sports fandom, which is using stats to make a meaningless point. I used my eyes to watch the game. What I saw were smaller players, slower on plays, less capable of throwing accurate passes down field less able to break up passes down field, less able to compete at the line of scrimmage, ets. If you are slower, less physically able, less intellectually able (mental talent is as impressive physically talent), you are going to lose, a lot. Everyone, please spare me you nonsensical stats. Facts aren't reasons. If you want less intelligent sports analysis, go to a stats page.
  2. Norton used to have The Nest. What makes you think they deserve better?
  3. No. Yes.
  4. I went to see Max McAnally at the Newberry Opera House last night with Mrs. GP1 the luckiest woman in the world. I made it a point to be near my house to watch the Zips and watched an entire game for the first time in a long time. First of all, watching first quarter between when the QB threw an arm punt until the end of Q1 was a shocking display of incompetence. The seemingly nonstop turnovers to the coach going for a first down in a bad place was a disastrous display of events rarely seen in college e. I feel almost honored to have seen it. I've spent the last 18 years watching a low level ACC school struggle weekly to succeed and at times actually succeed. What makes them succeed is a level of talent just god enough to succeed with good coaching. I didn't realize it until this week after watching an entire game. The Zips are lacking in talent, in an a really bad way. If you want to blame the coach, go ahead. He's been at Akron for 3 years. There should be better talent. The coach is responsible for getting talent. I could go on for a long time, but pretty drunk. I predicted 3 wins at the beginning of the season. I'll stand by that. This program is in a horrible place.
  5. The lady you're with has hairy legs.
  6. I'd love to know his evidence. It's a long way between teaching a kid how to break a fulll court press and understanding the complexities of television revenue generation. My argument against it is no network is offering more money because sponsors don't get value out of the advertisements so they won't pay more.
  7. Grand Canyon? Conference realignment has hit rock bottom.
  8. Effectively indeed. Create options. To me, second down is the most important down to be able to run on. Maybe not every second down, but the ability needs to be there. First down has to produce something other than a negative play. The option to run on second down keeps the defense honest. It opens up the field because the defense has to defend everything and that's very hard to do. I'd rather have the running backs rush for 90 yards on 20 carries and a TD with the longest being 10 yards than rushing for 110 yards on 20 carries with a TD with the longest being 70 yards. The second makes for 19 very unproductive plays.
  9. Agreed. A similar criticism might be brought up against a kicker who makes four FGs with one being game winner. "He might have kicked four FGs with one being the game winner, but he only played four plays." We now live in an era that obsesses over statistics to the point many people aren't able to actually analyze a game. Heck, baseball analysts now think telling us exit velocity is a meaningful game analysis.
  10. I most certainly did not.
  11. Or, there are a certain number of people who would find the time convenient. How about kids in costume get in for free?
  12. One has nothing to do with the other. Big picture, EMU just needs one more win for a bowl. Akron is still looking at a 3 win season. Whose shoes would you like to be in the remainder of the year.
  13. Great upset.
  14. Most games are lost, not won.
  15. Could have had a huge trick or treat event on Jackson Field for the general Akron community. Student organizations could have participated.
  16. True, but you don't know if you don't try.
  17. For the awesome community event they are putting on themed around Octoberfest and Halloween.
  18. We blocked that last second FG attempt in 1987 for a win so I'm sure that figured into it.
  19. Don't get your hopes up. Emu is playing for a bowl. Akron is running out the string. Akron is Kent level bad at this point. Emu blows them out. Give up the 2.5 and bet your house on it.
  20. The excitement for this game is off the charts.
  21. One of my brothers is a physician in NE Ohio. He says Akron nurses are the best in the region by far.
  22. Akron's problems have nothing to do with demographics. It only takes 40 decent players to field a good team. 40.is a miniscule number in relation to the demographics of Ohio and surrounding states. Akron's problem is everything isn't equal because Akron does everything it can to stay at the back of the pack. This makes it hard to get 40 really good players. Akron has institutionalized losing. One could say we have nearly perfected it as we approach another program decades ahead of us in institutionalizing failure in a football program, Kent State. I hate to say it, but we are closer to Kent than (pick 5 MAC teams). If you guys want to fire Joe, go ahead if that is your solution. It will be an act of mercy for him. The problem is, firing him won't solve the real problem. The enemy is within.
  23. Let me explain the simple difference between Toledo and Akron. Toledo: Coaches, presidents and athletic directors come and go. The cultural expectation from the BoT, athletes students alumni fans and general community around Toledo remain the same. They want and expect the University to produce a competitive program so the University puts their best foot forward in hiring coaches and ADs. Akron: Coaches, presidents and ADs come and go. The culture is such that the BoT does not prioritize the football program like Toledo does so they hire one mope AD and President after another who really doesn't care about not just the football program, but the entire University. Athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron suffer because of it to the point and ocean of indifference is created. They expect the team to lose. The football program at Akron fails because it is set up to fail at an institutional level. The results are as plain as day on Saturdays....or Tuesdays.....or Wednesdays.....
  24. Soooo, it isn't an demographics.
  25. Explain Toledo.
