I just looked up some games. Looks like he didn't produce much. If a player can't produce against the current crop of players on the roster, maybe we won't miss him much.

Good post. I am of the belief that we should compete at a level where we have a realistic shot at winning against "like" schools. Some like to talk about paying players as a destruction of the "integrity of the game". Is paying players really worse for the integrity of the game than the month of "rent-a-win" games we all have to watch and participate in at the beginning of every season? I don't think so. Not only are they bad football, but they steal money away from hard working people who are forced to buy the rent-a-win tickets in order to get to see real games later in the season.

I'm glad to see a quote about winning. Maybe I don't read every presser, but I don't remember reading much discussion about winning. I'm perplexed though. He talks about fieldgoals being a turnover or a failure, yet he is down by something like 20 in the fourth last week and kicks a fieldgoal to become down 17. It doesn't make sense to me. It's one thing to tell the fans and players winning is important, but I'd like to think actions would follow. That was apparently a very good spoof by CK.Now I get it. It was so stupid, I thought it might just be the thing to happen in the MAC...I'm serious.....

Second round of conference expansion is beginning.

I don't think the two are connected. Cincy has been very good the past few seasons. Except for getting blown out by Florida in the Sugar Bowl, I can't remember them getting blown out by anyone. Historically, Cincy has been a bad program and will find their way back some time soon. -

When we get done with this, we can put signs above the lockerroom doors reading, "Whites Only...and Only If Your Parents Have Money".I'm not interested in turning on the TV and watching LSU vs Alabama with DIII talent. Sorry....I enjoy modernity.Sorry, throwing the bullshit flag on you here. Millions of college students somehow manage to make it through with combinations of loans, work, etc. And believe it or not, a lot of those students are black and they somehow do it too. The percentage who are helped by athletic scholarships is miniscule compared to that number. Throwing the race card in doesn't help your argument, especially if you just want that for your own entertainment. If you want the quality of D-1A football to remain where it is today, scholarships have to stay where they are. If you want to go to college football games where almost everyone looks like you, go to Mt. Union games. Everyone sits around those games patting themselves on the back on top of their high horse about the DIII players being "true student athletes". I don't need my world view boosted with a football game...I'd rather have good entertainment watching top level athletes compete.

The league has been around since 1948. It's been over for a long time. Nobody wants to admit that is the case, but it is the reality. When the BCS schools get their own division, it could be the best day ever for the MAC.

God Bless The ProcessI would love for someone with nothing better to do with their time to do the following content study. How many times since taking over the Zips has Coach I or the AD used some form of the word "win" in a public statement? Coaches need to publically talk about their desire to win and what it takes to win. When the "process" is the key element of public discussion, it becomes the theme of the program. Of course we all want the Zips to get better and there needs to be a process to do that, but winning has to be part of the process or everyone is spinning their wheels. Winning needs to be talked about in public and the "process" should be talked about between coaches behind closed doors. When Marshall was in the league, they publically stated they wanted to "win championships", whether MAC or a bowl championship.I like to listen to Brian Kelly after a loss. Everything he talks about is why his team lost and what they need to do to win games. It isn't process or any of that nonsense. It is a discussion on why they lost and what creates losing. He then discusses his faults and his teams faults and what needs to be done to win. No process....winninig.

I wouldn't have used the word Bozos....Probably would have gone with something like "yahoos", but a good point. If they trade out Moore, the just get another set of problems and they aren't correcting the core issues.

I'm not an accountant, but I believe grants in aid are not taxable. This $2,000 will not be taxable...probably.I'm against this $2,000 payment and for a player having a job and cashing in on his celebrity. That would be taxable income.

Piss away, MDZip. Welcome to the club. I have spent all day studying in an area of the country where it has already started snowing!I wore shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops out to dinner last night. It's a little cool today so I'll probably replace the t-shirt with a sweatshirt tonight.

This is the same as JD ditching the 3-3-5 defense for something else. It is what he set up the program to do. JD also tried a different offense and didn't do well because it wasn't what he did.Coach I was brought here to do what he is doing. It isn't fair to him to ask him to do something he may not know a lot about. We/he would be better off getting rid of him and bringing in someone different.

Second round of conference expansion is beginning.

Nah, what did Joe in was that he trusted without verifying, a common mistake across the generations.Another common mistake across the generations is to trust in the belief that everything in the past is inferior to everything in the future or vice versa, again a case of trusting without veryifying.I like to think that fear of the future will do us in before anything.... “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” -- YodaSort of brings us around to the Zips. I'm not afraid that we might land in a division outside of the BCS level. I don't fear the conference shake-ups either. I think there is a good chance that we might end up in a better place than we are right now if we, and other like us, are smart. If we startle in fear of the current changing landscape and make stupid decisions like a mega conference between whatever schools were looking at this idea, mw, cusa, etc., we will be in the same place we are with the same problems we currently have. We'll just start to call our cold a virus. Either way, it is the same thing. The MAC and MAClike schools need to move with purpose and confidence into the future. -

True dat. Me and Proposition Joe prefer peaceful solutions to disputes.ArticleProp Joe's loyalty to the past did him in. He didn't understand the younger generation and in fact tried to change the future by making it like the past. -

Dave don't know Marlo. It was only Marlo's way in his world. That's why the co-op didn't last. -
Terrible news. This presents KD with a lot of challenges as PG is a critical position in college basketball. There are a lot of guys who could fill in, but how well they can play at that position is a question. A question could also be, how many minutes per game can they expect the #1 PG to play throughout the season if nobody is stepping up as a solid back-up? The second question sort of goes to "freshness" at the end of the season and MAC Tournament time.

I love the Trotters and I'm glad a Zip is one of them. They make a lot of people happy. That is a good thing.

You lost me here. Nobody will exit one of these conferences after getting into one. The conferences are setting up huge buy-out clauses right now. The decisions these schools make the next few months will live with them for at least 50 years.MAYBE if Missouri is getting destroyed in the SEC, they will want easier competition in a few years and move to the Big Ten. Not likely, but that could be an option. -

How about WVU and L'Ville? That's how I read the stories. My esteemed colleague from Green should know it doesn't always have to be one or the other. -

Looks like WVU to Big XII. I guess schools with low academic standards like Baylor and Texas will have another friend to play football with.Want to know why teams like Missouri, WVU, etc. are passing on the Big Ten? It has nothing to do with academic standards and the Big Ten passing on them. If it was, Nebraska wouldn't get in. It's because the league is crap and schools want to be part of something bigger, not smaller. Adding Nebraska to the league does nothing more than add an average Big 12 team to the league. Granted, Nebraska is still better than 90% of the Big Ten, but the rest of the league isn't very good.Academics have noting to do with the moves conferences are making. You honestly believe that WVU and Missouri took a "pass" on joining the Big Ten? Wow. They would kill to get an invite.Maybe pass isn't the right word. They looked at better options. Missouri was always rumored to join the Big Ten and they didn't because the SEC is a better league. WVU didn't go crawling on their hands and knees to the Big Ten. Outside of Notre Dame, future Big Ten expansion will be adding garbage to an already bad league. Certainly not a Leader in college football. -

I have blinders on? I'm not the one who wants the AD to go after only one guy. Only Tressel can do well at Akron?...I simply can't bring myself to believe that. Lots of guys could do well at Akron...this is called being open minded. Brookhart won a MAC Championship...that's called doing great. We need winning to come to town, not the circus.

One can talk himself into a lot of things. Something about Rome burning.......

Faust was plucked from a high school program. ND played about a gazillion times more difficult schedule than tosu. It's easy to win against the MAC and the crap that is the Big Ten. Just show up with bought players, beat a crappy schedule and it becomes pretty easy to make a national championship game. This is a Zips board, not the Hire Jim Tressel board, so let's talk Zips. A better example of what Faust is, in relation to his time at ND, is how an AD can make a horrible mistake in hiring someone. It isn't Faust's fault ND hired him. It isn't Coach I's fault UofA hired him. The fault lies with the AD. Our current problems lie with our AD's decision making.Tressel will never be the coach at Akron.
