  1. He sure was a tough guy. Wrestling in high school creates a very aggressive person.
  2. Can he do anything with one though? We'll see...we all know it's a building process.....
  3. Facilities are not the problem. Can't State has a horrible arena and they seem to do well year in and year out. If facilities were that big of a deal, we wouldn't lose a MAC football game. I thought we would have learned that lesson by now. I'm always patient with coaches. As long as KD continues to win 20 games, regardless of how it is done, the blame will never be pointed in his direction. Personally, I think he focuses on the wrong things, but we can talk more about that after the season.

Congrats on being the first guy to pinpoint the problem in this game. Could have mixed in a zone while Zeke was still in the game. Instead we kept with the man-to-man/wide-open lane defense. Notre Dame lost their main player yesterday and the switched to a 2-3 zone after giving up a nice lead to UCONN. Changed the game the final 4 minutes because UCONN depends on driving the lane. ND got back the lead and won the game playing a zone. Great college basketball game if anyone saw it.
  6. I don't think anyone - me included - was cheering for them to lose...simply pointing out that a 6 seed might provide Akron the best road to the MAC Final. I understand where you are coming from. We need a 20 win season more than the 6 seed. To be the best, you have to beat the best. I don't care who we play in the Tournament, we need to win.
  7. It is good for Akron to win every game. Last night was especially important because it would have placed them at the 20 win mark. If they lose in their first game this week, they finish with 19 making it an average season. I'd like to see them finish with at least 20 (22 would be even better because they would be MAC champions) to keep the run of 20 win seasons going. 20 wins is a good season....19 is average.
  8. Not if you lend money in a responsible way. You know, to people who can afford to pay it back. There are plenty of banks who have weathered the financial crisis well.

I guess another observation is we are a better team than what played last night. It was the first time I've seen Can't play this season. They are a shell of the program they once were....kind of shocking to see. They are the talent level of a team we should beat or at least be better than at this point.
  10. I think you political fans would enjoy watching the documentary 'Inside Job.' It won an Oscar this year. I think it gives a nice overview of what brought about the financial meltdown that put our economy in the situation we are currently in. Haven't seen the movie, but the situation we are in isn't too difficult to figure out. 30 years ago, 8% of the GDP of the USA was financial institutions. Today, it is 42%. The only way to really have a wealthy society is to make things. What do financial institutions make? What value do they bring to society other than getting people to sign on the dotted line and pass along a fee for processing paperwork? How many people out there know there is a tax incentive the US government gives you to move your company to another country? We have met the enemy and we are us. If the unemployment number is going down, what kind of job is replacing it? Let's look. Jobs lost during the recession were wage jobs between $19.05 and $31.40 per hour. These new and exciting jobs everyone is excited about are wages between $9.03 and $12.91. Another step toward the US becoming a Third World country complete. I'm a pretty conservative guy, but there is something really wrong in this country. I could care less about the rich or the poor. The middle, or shrinking middle, is a huge problem moving forward.

This is a link to the ABJ photos of the game last night. To all Akron football players, please take note of photo 13 of 14. You all should be ashamed of losing the Wagon Wheel to such a stupid bunch of people. Do yourselves and everyone a favor and bring that trophy back to where it belongs next season.

    Can't

I agree 100%. Akron was able to maintain the lead the entire time Zeke was in. I was completely confident early in the second half that the Zips were going to win. Can't would make a comeback and get within two, then Akron would extend the lead again. I never thought Can't would take the lead. Zeke goes out, Can't is able to tie the game and get some confidence and things got away from Akron. I agreed 100% with KD taking Zeke out after his third foul. They were almost 8 minutes into the second half with a lead. Even if he didn't get the third foul, it would have been a good time to rest him for a couple minutes.
  13. George F. Will gets is right as usual. Quick question...When Will calls him a "vibrator" in the article, is he really calling him a dick? When Al Sharpton plays the race card, nobod is surprised because he is dealing from the top of the deck. There is a certain honesty to what Sharpton does because he makes no bones about where he is coming from. The problem with Huckabee playing the race card, which he is, is he is dealing from the bottom of the deck. He is speaking a type of code to a base faction in the Republican Party that decent people should be ashamed of. I wish Palin and Huckabee wold just go away. Curse the douschebags at Fox News for keeping them alive. Where is Z.I.P. on this issue facing ZNO?

Zeke was great on defense. He needs to do two things on offense: 1. Do a better job of quickly establishing his position in the block. 2. He needs a higher release point for the ball when he shoots from the field and the foul stripe. One other thing that makes it three. Establish a better routine on the foul stripe. He should get his arms moving by dribbling. This will establish fluid movement in his shooting. He looks stiff just flipping the ball around in his hands a little. It's a sport, relax and have fun with it. Physically, Zeke looks great.

I think the Diggs ejection was because the ref was putting his hands on him and Diggs instinctively pushed his hands off him. Touching an official. You are correct. It was pretty clear in the replay that Diggs shoves the hands of the ref away. He got what he deserved. It didn't matter last night, but if he is ejected for that, does he get suspended for one game, meaning the first Tournament game?
  16. I'll keep it simple for you guys. "The most dangerous team is a team with confidence and momentum".....Bill Cowher. Prior to Zeke going out with three fouls, Can't had no confidence or momentum. Zeke goes out, Can't makes some shots and gathers confidence and momentum in their offense...game over. Zeke going out with three fouls was key to the game. Even when he came back, the Zips couldn't get back THEIR confidence and momentum. Thank you and have a nice weekend.
  17. (Somehow I got my cut and past tied into trimmy10's post. GP1 posted the link.) Either way, it makes Huckabee look really sleazy.
  18. Mostly strange responses by this guy. Some I agree with, but few. I try not to let what writers for the ABJ upset me. I would have had a heart attack years ago if I did. If you are a D-1A prospect in Akron and you won't start right away at a BCS team, or even worse get redshirted, you are better off going to a MAC school and starting right away if you can. I'm convinced sitting out a year as a redshirt is not the best thing for an incoming freshman with NFL dreams. You get better by playing, not being on scout team.
  19. Says a lot about him...... Even more about his base.
  20. Herb Brooks just rolled over in his grave. We play on Friday, and don't play again until Tuesday...at the earliest !! Adding a little extra "conditioning" during this stretch won't hurt. I'd just recommend not doing it a week from now. What purpose would it serve? It's sort of like yelling at a player this time of year. If you have to yell at a player at this point in the season, you have the wrong player on the floor. I'm all for yelling early in the season or training camp if it can serve a purpose. I'm all for running a team into the ground early in the season or training camp if it serves a purpose. Now isn't the time. There are a lot worse things you can do to a player to motivate them other than yelling and running.
  21. Maybe Rev. Huckabee should go back and read Exodus 20:16. This guy is such a fake I can't believe anyone takes him seriously.
  22. The economy is booming with it's current 9.8% unemployment rate. Employment numbers typically lag the stock market. So the stock market is the economy? I had no idea. It is a reflection of how the economy is doing. In a time when it is hard for a business to get money from a bank for investment in new equipment, etc., you have to find other methods of financing your cap ex projects. A good way of doing that is to sell stock. Increased stock value allows a company to get cash through the sale of those stocks to outside investors. The increase in the stock market will eventually lead to lower unemployment because companies will be able to finance cap ex projects through stock sales in lieu of bank loans.
  23. Herb Brooks just rolled over in his grave. Mental abuse is worse than physical abuse this time of year. A good night of sleep gets you over a hard day of running this late in the season because the players are in great shape so they are not harmed by the running. Standing in the huddle with the OU fans laughing at you for three TOs is worse than a day of running. Tuesday was one of those "throw the tape away" games. It happened...move on to Can't.
  24. I like what KD did for a couple of reasons. First, running the players to death after a loss this time a year is unproductive so you have to find a way to rub their noses in crap a little after a loss. Rubbing their noses in crap DURING a loss is even better. Second, a coach being a little unpredictable to his players is good as well. Everyone lets the clock run out at the end of games these days. I watched a team give up the other night with 60 seconds to go and down only 9. Allowing the players to think the old guy at the end of the bench might be just a little crazy because of calling TOs is good for the players as well. There should be a feeling of confidence backed up by a little nervousness this time of year. A bad game is a bad game and the team overall is playing well so they should feel some confidence going into Friday and then next week. What KD did may make them nervous. It's good for them right now to think the old guy might just be a little crazy. Charlie Coles has done it for years and it works well for him.
  25. Link This is a stupid guy appealing to the most stupid people in the Republican Party. These people are not conservative, they are just bitter and stupid people. Ever watch the Mike Huckabee show on FOX? It looks like they brought in the audience from the Lawrence Welk Show.
