  1. Or maybe he made the mistake of saying exactly what he is planning to do.....
  2. If enough of you want me to, I'll put together a things to do in Raleigh list. Don't want to do it though if not enough people care or aren't going to the game.
  3. With a little luck, I could see the MAC going 1-4 this bowl season.
  4. Great post. There's probably an O Lineman or two there .. but it's pretty middle / lower Big Ten at this point.I beg to differ. ND has had recruiting classes ranked 18th, 21st, 2nd, and 8th in the nation in the past 4 years. Kids want to play there. The reason the players aren't NFL caliber is the coaching while they are at ND.Other than Tate, name them.
  5. Thanks! If anyone is wondering, southerners say Cary stands for....ContainmentArea forRelocated YankeesYou won't see a single native southerner there.
  6. This is a general question for everyone. Did anyone watch the SEC Championship game, Big 12 Championship game or even a guy like CJ Spiller from Clemson yesterday? You would see one NFL player after another on those teams. Do you see that level of talent with ND? Maybe Golden Tate, but that's the end of it.
  7. To play Devil's Advocate, Brian Kelly certainly made the jump from D-II to the big time. Just look at how Cincy played today.Personally, I think that Akron needs to be very careful with this move. There are a lot of good things going for the Zips right now. A bad hire here could put UA back for years. My case in point, Notre Dame.Kelly was in a situation at GVS where he had to manage scholarships and go get talent. Kehres just shows up for work and talent falls in his lap.Akron needs to hire a good coach because they need to win. Akron can win in the MAC next year. Notre Dame isn't losing because they haven't hired the right coaches. ND loses because they put so many barriers up between them and winning that they don't win. ND is just another midwest school that kids no longer want to go to. Look at the best teams in college football, they are all in warm weather states. Save me the Cincy argument, they would not win another BCS conference other than the BE. ND is a relic of the past and unless it changes it will continue to be that forever.Dumbest comment i have ever heard anyone make. Notre Dame could have won 10 games easily this year with a break here and there. Florida got lucky twice this year. Alabama got lucky twice this year. Texas was beat three times. A great coach makes a difference in the tough games. Notre Dame will hire a great college coach., and if not they will still have the highest graduation rate and kids will be lined up to play there. As far as Cincy, you must be a closet OSU fan who can't stand that you are not the best college team in ohio.Thank you for the view from the 1950s.Notre Dame could have also lost 8 games. Teams make their own breaks and ND doesn't have the talent to make their breaks. At the end of the day, teams win or lose. They went 6-6 against the easiest schedule they have produced in decades. The talent does not exist at ND to win games or they would have won more against the likes of Michigan (sub-.550 record), Navy, Pitt (third place BE), Stanford (4th place PAC 10?) and the rest of the garbage they schedule. ND doesn't win for a lot of reasons and I think they are the same reasons Big Ten teams aren't competitive any longer. Talent players just don't want to play in rain and snow. ND also misses out on a lot of talented players because they just can't get through the doors. One actually has to be smart to go to ND. Someone could be borderline retarded and get into an SEC school of they are a good enough football player. I don't think the ND alumni is looking at graduation rates right now. If they were, Mr. Personality would still be the coach. ND wants wins and I don't blame them. They pour millions into that program every year and 6-6 sure wouldn't sit well if I was a graduate. The alumni gives money when they win, not for graduation rates.I could care less about Cincy or tOSU. Again, thank you for the view from the 1950s. ND has not been relevent in college football for many years and will continue to be so in the future. It is a great place to go break the bank if you are a coach, but not a place to go to win big games.
  8. I just saw an interesting headline about Tebow. It sort of plays into his crying on the sidelines after losing. "Tebow turns whine into water."Great player, but I've had enough......Well one thing in Tim's favor. I can absolutely guarantee you that you will never hear that he has been cheating on his wife with another woman. The way that offensive lineman was running his fingers through his hair while he was crying makes me think you may be right. He may never have a wife to cheat on.Seriously, never say never. Just ask Tiger.

  10. Could someone please help with physical location for the games this coming weekend? Need it for the GPS. NC State is in Raleigh, not Cary so I'm a little thrown by it.
  11. Amazing. This kid is too stupid to go to college. Good luck in I-AA.

  14. How about the MAC Championship? How about beating BCS school Syracuse? How about beating Top 25 Marshall?.......As far as what fans at a HS football game are saying, I could care less. What else do people from Youngstown have to talk about....the weather.....the great economy...the booming downtown...the beautiful landscaping? After yesterday, Youngstown is poised to hold the title of being the best high school football area in Ohio. Ursuline, my Alma mater, and Mooney destroyed their opponents yesterday.Weather is same as Akron.Economy is very similar to Akron.Downtown is a hell of a lot nicer than you think. Our 6,000 seat arena has made downtown the entertainment destination in the Valley. Thank You Traficant lol!Indians06 is telling it like it is.Youngstown is a dump.
  15. Most of the posters on this board. This board is a strange mix of students and older guys who wish the world was like a Leave It To Beaver episode only with a more "suburban" tilt.
  16. Open discussion here. Any thoughts on the game last night? Here are a couple.First, Congratulations to CMU for their third Championship in four years. Dan L. is the best QB in the MAC since Roethlisberger and that team would be nowhere without him. The accomplishments speak volumes. The guy is a winner. I really don't know what else there is to say unless Captain Kangaroo wants to add anything.Second, I am both frustrated about the Zips and bullish about the future. We have more talent than OU and we can't beat them. I just have to shake my head in disgust. On the bullish side, I remain encouraged about the near future of the Zips. This league is horrible and with the right coach we can get it turned around next year. With the right coach, we will compete for a chance to play in the MAC Championship.Third, thanks to ESPN for only showing the CMU side and I think everyone knows what I mean. They had a nice turnout. Deer hunting season must be over in Michigan to get that many people to a game on Friday night.Fourth, I would like to tell the CMU coach....GET THE HELL OUT NOW. Run from the MAC as fast as you can. Take almost anything at another D-1A conference and save yourself.

  18. It seems as if your logic is since the team was 3-9, the players aren't any good. I think the players are good and just need a new coach.I'm only concerned if a player is a top notch talent. If the player is a dog or easily replaced by another, I'm not concerned. The Zips will be fine. I'm not looking down the road any further than next year. The expectation should be for a coach to come in and win right away. Next year the coach will have "his team". Calling it anything other than "his team" is already making excuses for losing.
  19. I go almost every week. Next week when I'm there I'll stop by. Is it in MB or Conway?
  20. No, this is the best time of year on the Carolina Coast because it's not boiling hot with 98% humidity every day. Congrats Hunter, but you're simply swapping our crappy winters for their horrible, never-ending muggy, buggy summers. Ughhh.Interesting. I live in SC and we get two months of fall, two months of winter (including two days of snow), two months of spring and six months of summer. I'll take that any day over six months of winter. I will confess that there are two months that are EXTREMELY hot (the first year was the worst, but we grew used to it), but that is about the time in Ohio when it is extremely hot as well (we call that season "no bra" season because it is too hot for the ladies to wear bras). Outside of that, there is something to be said for spring flowers coming up at the beginning of March, going to the last Wake game in November in shorts, comfortable tailgates for college basketball, going to the ocean for Christmas/New Years and girls in summer dresses year around. I just got back from eating dinner and I have shorts on. Don't need a snow scraper in the car. I'll take that.I took the "swap" almost three years ago and would never return.
  21. Come on Zip37, it's completely unfair to hold Wistrcill accountable for a past that he had nothing to do with. Those of you who are skeptical at best, or expecting some coaching calamity, what will that look like to you? No D-1 wins in entire calendar years instead of one?The thing about coachers is they are left in a strange position when a coach is fired. They spend their entire lives wanting coaches fired and they feel some sort of affirmation when it happens. However, until a new coach is hired and actually loses a game, there is no coach to blame for everything so they look for short term alternatives. Reliving the past is one of their short term alternatives.I'm sure if we lose our first game next year, Zip37 will be posting....."Coach X is a < .500 coach".
  22. Did he give you any indication on what the lottery numbers will be Saturday?
  23. Hunter seems to be walking into a good situation at CCU.Last night I was in Myrtle Beach and the CCU TV network is on local TV. The had an alumni weekend for the homecoming game and sold out their golf outing. They also had 300 alumni show up to a pregame party outside of their stadium.TAKE NOTE UOFA: Their alumni association had a woman speak about generating alumni interest around the country and starting alumni chapters. It has been very successful. Here is how they do it. The do a geographical search to find at least 250 alumni names in an area. The do an e-mailer and snail-mailer to that group. One person always volunteers to be the first president and they go from there. That person organizes the first meeting. Once a year, someone from the CCU meets with the chapter to give them an update on what is going on at the school. See how easy it is UofA. Try harder! "Building" doesn't always have to come in the form of a literal building (or parking deck).
  24. Excellent post! Mt. Union gets a ton of players trying out for their team....I once heard they have around 200 players. I'm sure he can find 22 good ones from that group.A coach needs to at least have experience managing scholarships.
  25. If you start out your thinking, like the Great GP1 does, that most people in athletics administration are stupid and deserving of little confidence, the fall isn't that bad when it happens. I don't have much confidence either, but I didn't have much to begin with given his nutty start with Reno.
