  1. I guess that's depends on how you define significant. $1 million is 2.8% of $35.5 million. I don't find that significant. In fact, I'm pretty convinced there are better ways to fund the athletic department and Ohio MAC departments that would better benefit the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general communities around these schools. Scheduling almost complete non competitive games is an incredibly lazy and short sighted way of funding athletic departments. MAC athletic directors simply do not function with the best interest of their schools in mind.
  2. The celebration by the University of the scheduling Tennessee reminded me of this thread.
  3. If they don't like embarrassment, wait until they try and put that KSU diploma to use. There has always been gun play around urban schools. It happened when I was in school only we kept the problem to Kathryn Place.....on May Day. OSU had a parent killed on campus this month. I think the school is doing everything it can to influence something it doesn't have any control over. Onward.....
  4. They had an entire InfoCision Stadium worth of empty seat Saturday. Might be a good opportunity to get some good tickets at a cheap price on the secondary market.
  5. JCU was pretty successful with him. Maybe the kid was just a late bloomer. Or, maybe there were some kids in front of him who were just better. There are tons of late bloomers in D3.
  6. That's awesome. I met both Hunter and Mack when they were at Akron. Didn't know them well, but each time they were good guys. Seemed very professional and serious about their jobs.
  7. That's pretty awesome. Most marching bands don't know Nearer, My God, To Thee.
  8. If he gets going, it could cause quite the heat wave down there in Louisiana.
  9. Thanks for the clarification. I mostly agree. I would add they are dangerously incompetent.
  10. I spent more than twice that amount two weeks ago in a Buc-ee's on I-95 in Florida and I can't remember half of the crap I bought. What's your point?
  11. The only way the Zips win this one is if they slip a foreign object into their pillow and clock the Owls over the head with it.
  12. By accountable, do you mean punish? If so, who will be punished and how shall we punish them since they no longer work at the University? Sorry, I'm seeing the work accountable being used for punish too much these days. It has become a type of Newspeak.
  13. My prediction for your Sunday morning is...
  14. Im pretty certain there isn't a Hall of Fame. When there is, I am certain to be a first ballot entry. We could have an induction where the inductees get drunk at a dinner and are awarded one of those old plastic windbreakers the University to give first year letter winners.
  15. OVI is a new one for me. I guess that's Ohio's version of DUI. Anyhow, good riddance. Little-by-little, this guy is going to progress to a jail cell by his 30th birthday. Nobody this lacking in self awareness can turn things around.
  16. I like to look towards the future. When the P5 schools go their own way, we won't be ranked this low. Probably just between 60 $ 75.
  17. Delta Tau Chi was charged with worse in Animal House. Seriously, they were. It's a near non story, but it is a public school and the taxpayers have a right to know how their money is being spent. The punishment is extremely small. Moving on.....
  18. I think this might be a little premature.
  19. The schedule has six home games. Three of the games are Temple, Bryant (never heard of them) and a Wednesday night game. Overall, the first third of the season is a soul sucking disaster and that doesn't include two weeknight games in the back half. Someone put together a marketing plan that would get enough people excited to sell 5,000 legitimate season ticket packages for less than $1 million dollars. The point is, there is no point in blowing marketing money selling junk to a football savvy population. Fix the schedule in a way the program can get some forward direction. Hint: Winning cures a lot of problems. Gradually lean into more marketing as the product improves. A lot has to change.
  20. It always is.
  21. https://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/general-ncaa-board-of-governors-to-convene-constitutional-convention Read Robert Gates' comment very carefully. He's basically telling the NCAA they have little influence or even need moving forward. All of the current realignment is irrelevant. The P5 schools are going on their own way. They will be polite about it because the NCAA filled their pockets for many years, but it's over. Move fast G5 schools. You're getting your own division. Make something of it. It's a great opportunity.
  22. Easily. All are state schools. Taxpayers can easily absorb picking up the difference.
  23. Actually, there is, but as you describe they are leading in the wrong direction for self interest. I firmly believe any path forward for G5 schools has to exclude the athletic directors of G5 schools from any conversation. They cannot be trusted to act in the best interest of the schools they work for.
  24. If Dabos Winney has it figured out, anyone can figure it out. https://www.foxnews.com/sports/dabo-hates-realignment-talk-doesnt-see-end-in-sight I would add, within 5-7 years, there will be a super conference. Whatever happens between now and then doesn't really matter much unless there are a few P5 schools that simply don't want to join a super conference or the super conference doesn't want them for whatever reason (think some schools like Iowa State or WVU or Texas Tech or TCU). Notice the remaining Big 12 teams could be in a world of hurt. They could find themselves in the same situation UCONN was years ago when the Big East split up and nobody wanted them. Enough of them. What are the G5 schools going to do?
  25. Don't tell Colorado, but they played in the PAC 12 Championship Game in 2016.
