  1. Seen Miami play quite a few times in person this year...Zips should have no trouble but as we know, weird things often happen when they go to Oxford. Freshman PG Michael Weathers for the RedHawks is the real deal, can consistently beat his man and get to the rim, which could pose problems for Akron guards. If the Zips key on him he can be prone to turnovers. Supporting cast is nothing at all to write home about. Michael's twin brother Marcus is a pretty good player but a bit undersized. C Logan McLane will be Big Dog's counterpart. He'll have no chance stopping Big Dog one on one so I'd expect the usual double teams. If the Zips can hit shots I personally don't see any way they lose, Miami is just not good. Then again, anything can happen in road conference games so shouldn't take anything for granted.
  2. They lost at UNI. It was a promise game for some of their players (Marcus Paige is from iowa), so that certainly wasnt a buy game or anything.
  3. Well to play devil's advocate, Donlon has only been slightly above .500 at Wright State with zero conference championships- either tournament or regular season. And the Horizon is weaker than the MAC. Dambrot's winning percentage is almost .700 at Akron.
  4. I've just heard that there were some off the court issues that coincided with his injury. There may have been a chance that he would've been suspended regardless of the injury but that's just my guess and I'm not sure if that's true or not.
  5. You said it was the coach's fault I'm just pointing out how wrong that is
  6. That's 100% not coaching. It's called missing open shots. We would've had 21 more points if we just shoot our normal percentage. That means we win the last two easily.
  7. Wonderful season marred by a terrible final week. It really sucks to think of where this team could've gone had we been playing our best down the stretch instead of some of our worst.
  8. Home and home with a good A10 team? I'm not asking for a huge power team who would never come to the jar, but someone like St Bonaventure or St Joes. That should be doable. I remember a good series with Rhode Island a few years back.
  9. I love the fact that we get to play them. I hate the lack of respect that comes with that ridiculous seeding.
  10. Tulsa: RPI 61 Michigan: RPI 58 Wichita St.: RPI 51 Vanderbilt: RPI 60 Temple: RPI 63 We were probably higher than 80% of that "bubble board".
  11. When he said eastern was the best team in the...oh wait
  12. I'm pretty sure the First Four also includes a 12-12 matchup
  13. Okay, well, to be fair, 330 does bring up some good points. I'm not sure how much this has gotten around but I have heard that there were some things outside of the shoulder that contributed to his absence.
  14. Numbers wise, akron should definitely be a top 3 seed in the nit. I guarantee we end up as a 5 however.
  15. We had every chance there to extend and keep our lead. Buffalo went cold but instead of building a lead we left the door wide open for them which we paid for. Looking back i can think of so many things that would've changed the outcome had they gone differently yet none of them did. This one really, really stings. Some losses just leave you sad and others leave you angry. This was definitely the latter.
  16. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about this one. The Canadians looked really good last night and they are not the best match-up for us. However, I know that the Zips will rise to the occasion and play their hearts out. The players are hungry after two straight years without MAC finals appearances. I'm expecting a real dog fight that comes down to the very end.
  17. I'm sure they weren't necessarily planning to be there. I was actually thinking about that with BG's band because they did not at all seem like a college-caliber band. Made me think they must have had some replacements or something.
  18. It really is remarkable how many improbable wins weve pulled off over the years at the q
  19. I was going through Bleacher Report and saw their real-time team rankings. Akron is currently ranked one spot below Monmouth and ahead of bubble teams like OSU, George Washington, LSU (barely on the bubble), Florida, and South Carolina. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2621911-ncaa-basketball-2016-real-time-team-rankings-going-into-selection-sunday/page/29
  20. Not saying he didn't deserve it, but am I the only one who thinks Campbell is one of the weakest POTYs in recent memory? I didn't see him play much but when I did he certainly didn't blow me away. I just think if you compare him to past big men who have won it recently (Moss, McCrea, Greene, Travis, etc.). Guess it follows the theme of lack of dominant teams/players.
  21. Id be willing to bet that they don't
  22. Because of media exposure and because of Monmouth's perception earlier in the year. They were "giant killers" and that reputation had stayed with them whether it is still accurate or not. If you look at the body of work you'd see that Akron and Monmouth are close in resume strength but Monmouth certainly has a stronger perception from fans.
