Hmm... it is a weird event. Looks like they also have a bunch of D3-D2 teams playing as well. And last year they had 4 D1 teams so I have no clue why they would only go with 3 this year

Yes, i do agree with you there. I think the program really could and should take the next step soon. I just don't think the consistent success we've been having is anything to take for granted.

Maybe you'd like some losing seasons to "mix it up" a bit? I see no reason why a Zips fan wouldn't be excited about this team. We have the potential to win over 25 games this year and I'm truly sorry if that is not enough for you.

Iona may have had lackluster results so far but they were still highly regarded coming into the year and AJ English is one of the best scorers in the country (46 in a game earlier this year). They are still a dangerous team. I believe that the Zips are better than both of these teams, but we know how little that normally means. Just ask Green Bay (who could be worse than both Iona and UCSB). But as long as we come to play I see these as two very nice momentum games going into conference play.

Just looked it up....Taariq Cephas had 12 pts, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 steals. Nearly a quadruple-double. Luckily he's graduated now. Their top scorer, who had 16 against us last year, Sterling Smith, is now playing for Pitt. Against us, they played 11 different players...only 5 of them scored.

Some weird stuff going on in this conference.....Central has lost three in a row and is 2-3. Ball State, last year's bottom feeder, just beat a VERY good Valparaiso team. 10/12 teams are above .500, and the two that aren't are CMU and WMU, two of the preseason favorites. I'm not really sure who's good anymore, seems to be a lot of parity in the league

Good points about wings slashing to the basket. Getting guys free in the lane and having defenses collapse on them is really the best thing a 3-ball reliant team can do. Against small teams all we have to do is throw it in the post but when teams can match-up 1-to-1 on our big guys we have to be able to slash. I think the problem is our wings (sans Ivey) just don't have quick first steps. They're still plenty athletic but not really from a quickness standpoint so they really can't put the ball on the floor and blow by their man. And it may be just me, but does it seem like the zips set very few ball screens? It seems to me that we prefer to play one on one and work the ball around rather than set screens and free up ballhandlers. It works against bad defenses, but I feel like it makes our offense rather stagnant at times when the defense stays in front of us and just leads to either contested threes or Pat throwing up tough hook shots.
