ZipsLive
Hey Zips fans! First off, I want to let everyone know how grateful I am for the chance to be a part of the Zips family. I can't say enough good things about the great people of Akron. If I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you, please don't be shy in coming over and introducing yourself at a women's basketball game or a baseball game in the future. I enjoy meeting new people and, most importantly, listening to passionate Zips fans who offer up their insights and opinions which help open up doors to making me a better communicator and broadcaster. One of the things that I wanted to do, as part of my transition to Akron in November, was revamp the Coaches Shows to become more fan friendly for all Zips fans. Some of the previous places I had encountered all had call-in shows and email in-boxes for fans all across the country to participate in asking the coaches of their favorite university a question. Unfortunately, we did not have that set up here at Akron. Which is why I asked the moderators of Zips Nation to partner with us in a segment each week where fans can ask the week's featured coaches questions to be answered live on the air. I'd like for you to post your own question for the coach in the thread below. This Thursday, Coach Jodi Kest and Coach Keith Dambrot will both be appearing on the show starting at 7 PM, so be sure to drop a line soon. As part of our newly revamped show, we're also going to have a new segment allotted for friends of the program, super fans, AK-Rowdies and sponsors to come down and be interviewed for the show as well. In case you don't know, we broadcast every show on the outside patio at the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn off of Ghent Road. If you can't make it, please be sure to tune in to the broadcast on the radio on the home of the Zips, 1350 AM.Come next week, we'll have a completely different thread, so be sure to keep those questions coming. Thanks for your time and participation. Blue & Gold
Coach Dambrot:Why hasn't Steven Swiech gotten more playing time? What does he need to work on to see the floor? Has his attitude remained mostly positive even though he's not getting a lot of PT?

Valpo Zip
Here is one for coach Dambrot:Considering the anticipated addition of Zeke Marshall next year, and seeing how you have 2 centers already, how are you going to distribute the minutes between 3 centers in the next 2 years?Coach Kest:How did the dissmissal of the best players (basketball speaking) over the last 2 years affect the team chemistry? How do the fans know that is not going to keep happening every year.No softballs here captain
Dr Z
Coach Dambrot with our offensive struggles in the paint will Nikola Cvetinovic's playing time increase as the season progresses? For the love of gawd, he speaks five languages! Make sure you mention the five languages.Did somebody from the Stern Show interview Nik? What a great job of answering the interviewer. I'm a big fan of Nik. g-mann17
I have a question for Coach Kest. We've heard a lot about what the men's staff has accomplished in being able to recruit Zeke Marshall, and having a very high quality recruiting class coming into this season. How closely are you working with the men's staff in developing your own staff's recruiting strategies? Also, what is do you feel are your primary recruiting regions? hoops47
Why isn't steve swiech playing? are you trying to force him out knowing that you will have three big centers with Zeke comming all juggeling for playingtime next year? Captain Kangaroo
For coach Dambrot - "Cventinovic played decent minutes at the center position vs. Buffalo. Are you willing to give him a longer leash and try to develop him in the second half of 2009...living with some Freshman mistakes. Or will Nik continue to see single-digit minutes and spot duty?"For coach Kest: "Your team has as many wins 1/2 way through this season as most recent Zips women's teams have had at season's end. This, despite jettisoning your top players from the last 2 year's squads. Are the Lady Zips exceeding your expectations this season...meeting expectations...or should they be playing better?" ZachTheZip
Coach Dambrot: You've talked about your team lacking what you call "mental toughness". What are you and your coaching staff doing to instill it in your players?Coach Kest: The last few years, it seems like your team has had more players leave or transfer after each season than those who stick around. Is some type of "addition by subtraction" happening, and will losing so many players affect the program's Academic Progress rating?
Zip Watcher
Coach Dambrot:- With the depth problems while you wait for Ronnie to get back, it appears the usual strategy of 3 guards / going small is off the table. Is there any thought to going BIG against conference teams, and using Nate, Brett or Jimmy as the 2 guard and posting up smaller guards to get some looks inside that way? Seems like Nate & Jimmy can probably guard most SG's in the conference. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen to your answer.Go Zips! B)

Says we are a defensive minded team without an identity on offense. Hopes it comes with experience. Some of the younger guys have kinda hit the wall(Humpty).
