National Signing Day Viewing Party?

Recommended Posts

In the past, the University had made a nice event out of National Letter of Intent Day. Fans could attend, watch the videos and ask questions to the staff. Last year they nixed it, which sucked. I am told the nixing is permanent.I may have the ability to procure a CD with the individual player’s recruiting videos. If I can do so, would anyone want to have a Signing Day Film Viewing at one of the downtown establishments like The Barley House or Ohio Brewing Company? If one of them would allow us to play the video on a big screen or two, I would be happy to throw some business their way. Maybe we can get some cheap appetizers or beers too?I couldn’t make it down town until 6:30pm. We could start soon thereafter.Who knows…maybe a “guest speaker” or two might show up? ;) I’ve never been to either establishment, so any input on which would be more Zips-friendly would be appreciated. I’ll need to make the reservations by noon tomorrow.

Excellent idea, Cap'n! I am partial to OBC and they have a large area in one corner where bands are able to set up. I think this would work fine for something like this. I usually head there on Tuesday evening, and I could ask around there tomorrow (even though it doesn't meet your noon tomorrow deadline) if it would help.

Great idea Capt'n. If I was able I'd find some business to do in N.E. Ohio and drive up from Columbus for the event. Unfortunately, I've got to go leave tomorrow for a national sales meeting in Arizona. Nice weather, but no time to enjoy it. Kinda like a hostage crisis situation.BTW, why did the powers that be decide to drop the signing day hoopla? With this class and the excitement of the opening of Info it seems like a natural thing to do. I don't get it. Why not show the recruits and the public we are proud of this recruiting class.Any ideas? Enjoy the brew.

I really enjoyed tonight's event, and I couldn't be more enthused for the upcoming season. How could you possibly spend time with Reno Ferri and not want to hit the field running yourself? I realize highlight tapes can sometimes lead to unjustified optimism, but I am absolutely thrilled with this class. I simply have to believe that, barring a crazy rash of injuries, 2009 will be every bit the success we have longed for during the initial campaign in the INFO. Four players really stood out to me:Phil TongaRandy GreenwoodChris Henderson (loved Reno's quip "as long as he doesn't go offsides more than 50% of the time, he'll play" LOLJeremy LaFranceThey'll ALL be making major contributions in 2009, IMHO.

Great meeting those of you in attendance last night. Kind of gives you an "insider" feeling when a member of the coaching staff actually takes the time to come. Thanks to Capt for putting it together and to Reno for coming and in my opinion enjoying himself. I believe with more advanced planning and knowledge of an actual coaches presence next years gathering can be even greater. How bout putting it in one of the VIP rooms in the press tower overlooking the INFO?

Guys that was a great event last night. Thanks JohnnyZip for making arrangements at OBC, thanks CK for arranging for the video and Coach Ferri, thanks to Coach Ferri for making time to make the presentation, and thanks to OBC for letting us carve out our own little space. This should definitely become an annual ritual for Zips fans. GO ZIPS 2009!SeeTeeZipper
