Valpo Zip
How many monkeys did we get off our back tonight? How many lessons did we learn tonight? Here are some reflections/questions for discussions, feel free to add to the list1-You can win with quality people, no need to recruit thugs (hint hint).2-The preseason poll and the media's rankings doesn't mean squat.3-Nate did not only get a 1000 points, he is setting a # of games record, and he is also the tournament's MVP.4-Joe Akron has no reason not to get excited about Akron BBall anymore. We are over the hump.5-How many MAC championships do you see in the zips near future?6-I expect a 14-15 seed in the big dance, what do you think? why
LosAngelesZipFan
I gotta tell ya, the thing that just amazes and excites me is that this was not "the year"-- think of what this team will be like over the next few years with this as a launching pad. With Zeke...wow. It should be exciting times in A-town
Zips fan
I am guessing the Zips at a 13 seed. ESPN had Buffalo at 13 prior to the game and I think the Zips will slide right into their spot.

A few years ago, we won the MAC football championship and we all though we had nothing but championships in front of us. Anything can happen in the MAC. Today is a time to have fun with winning something finally.
skip-zip
GP is right. Just enjoy this, like the rest of us. I haven't gotten to experience this in 23 years, since I was a student. It's a great feeling.True....It's very likely that we'll be a better team over the next few years. But, our last few teams were also better than this one and look what happened?. And as we all know by now, anything can happen in the tournament. We've gone from playing maybe our worst stretch of basketball over the last few games of the regular season, to needing a few miraculous plays to advance out of the first round, to winning it all. We were the fortunate one this year to have everything go right in a very short stretch of time. Next year, that could be someone else.Have a great night everyone!....we just became the lowest seed ever to win this tournament....wow. And enjoy the tournament selection show tomorrow. It will be sweet to see our name show up on the bracket. And waiting for Thursday's game will be even more exciting.Enjoy.
Zip Watcher
I'll say what I think needs to be said:This team is the best Zips team of the D-1 era .. THANK YOU.Moving onwards & upwards .. what's been building has now been built. The Zips are a championship team.Go ZIPS!!! B) B)
ZachTheZip
I think that tonight KD has officially surpassed Bob Huggins as the greatest Zips basketball head coach of the D-I era. Now don't rest on your laurels, because on thursday you're likely going up against one of the top teams in the country.

ZachTheZip
Something that caught my eye, and KD mentioned in the papers: It's been 23 years since we were last in the NCAA tournament, this was our 23rd win of the season, #23 Brett McKnight was the leading scorer, and KD's career is owed to another #23 that was in attendance at the Q: The King himself, Lebron James. It's too much to be mere coincidence. :screwks: :champs: :champs: :champs:

ksu sucks
Wasn't sure where to post this, but it seems that the MAC championship has garnered some respect from some of our most heated rivals..check this out; its a straight discussion from a couple users on bobcatattack. We can't afford to send the band to the conference tournament, but last year we blew 60k to host Brown in the CBI in front of 1,500 fans and 11,500 empty seats because O'Shea needed to claim he could produce a 20 win season like Dambrot does every year with less talent at Akron.Akron does not have less talent than Ohio. The only Bobcat that would start for this year's Akron team is Tillman. And I'm not 100% sure he'd start in front of Chris McKnight. Can't say I'd disagree . I just thought I'd do classy thing and immediately blame a rivals obvious respect on some sort of inferiority complex. Because that's what champions do, right? Good night, and remember to eat Wheaties tomorrow morning..the breakfast of champions .
tbozeglav
I am so ecstatic that we won the MAC this year, it's beyond words. I am so proud of these guys. They have grown SO well as a team over this season and it scares me to think of the potential we will have in the coming years.
ZippyforPresident
Just wanted to say at this important junction in our school's history that, well, I love you Zips, Zips Nation!, Akron, and everybody that has had some stake in this and has been at the JAR for all, or any of the games and/or has had an influence on the basketball program in recent years or years past. Thank you, this has been an amazing season... I will remember it always. Absolutely nothing but the best wishes in the NCAA Tournament. Lets keep this year going! God it feels so good. We are some of the best fans in the country, if not the best! And now, 23 years later, we have one of the 64 best teams in the country! It only gets better from here on out!... GO AKRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ZippyTuba11
I always feel obligated to say that this is not the best team I have seen at Akron. It is not better than that team that made 26 wins and was left out of it all. This year's team was able to accomplish something that we have not seen before, but that does not make them better. The better team does not always win.Good luck in the Big Dance

Id put this Akron team up against anyone believing that they had a shot at the victory. This team is all heart, and who knows...sometimes that's what's more important.WOOOOOOOOOO GO ZIPPPPPSS!!!! Blue & Gold
I think this team is deeper than any team that we've put on the floor in recent memory. On the other hand, this team doesn't possess an individual player who is able to dominate like either Romeo or Woody were. However, for the MAC tournament "4-games-in-5-nights" format, it appears that, if given the choice, one should lean more toward depth. Especially if that quality depth is gelling like this team did over the past 3 days. KD was right, we peaked at the right time - the last 3 games have been the best looking games of the Zips' season, IMHO.P.s.Is Cvetinovic going to be an absolute MONSTER, or what?!?! As a true stinkin' freshman he is huge, he is fearless, he is an emotional leader, he's got low-post moves and savvy, and he is already our best player at putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim! Zipmeister
A 13 seed wouldn't be bad, but I predict once the tournament officials realize Akron is in they will suspend the rules to put the Zips in the play in game in Dayton making them a 16.5 seed. This famous guy was a fool. GP1 would rather be lucky AND good. Championships are a set of many circumstances that all seem to fall in place at the right time and that happened for the Zips this weekend. CERTAINLY the best team of the MAC era. They're the only MAC era team dancing .. end of story. After watching the game last night, there is no doubt they are the best team. At least they have the most athletic talent of any team with a lot of upside to a lot of the players. There are some real potential offensive stars on this team and we saw that last night early when they hit a couple threes and the great offensive display they put on at the start of the second half.
