Penn State game

I think it is 500,000, but I'm not 100% sure.
Thanks for the input, PSU1. I was going to post on the CBSSports site -- somebody probably knows the exact number . . . .
That sounds low to me. I realize that each contract situation is different, but I think we got $650,000 from Wisconsin last year.
I was thinking the same thing. Wisconsin was $650k for a contract that was made quite a few years in advance. This game is a last-minute addition to the schedule, so I imagine the going rate should be a bit higher.
Boise St. gets $1.25 Million to face Hokies at FedEx. Now that is a nice pay day for a team scheduling a one-and-done. We should have gone with blue turf.
Stimulus money?

Just thought i would throw this out there. The game day central feature on the facebook's football fans app. is back on. So you all can start talking trash and throwing tomatoes and what not. Just throwing it out there, don't care if you all care or not.

So now I hear that Penn State DT Abe Koroma has been suspended for the year after failing three drug tests.
Kid, you either have great sources or brown eyes (the latter b/c you are full of crap). :P Checked a few on-line sources -- nada on this story. Of course, I live in North Carolina, which is not a hotbed of Big10(11) football.Do you guys run a gameday thread? If you don't mind (assuming I can't get to Happy Valley for this game) I'd like to discuss the game in realtime when it FINALLY gets to 5 Sep.
I read that one on the Scout boards. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=157&f=1395&t=4524450Thanks, Kid! Interesting that they've been discussing for two days but it hasn't shown up anywhere else. But, hey!, every story -- true or false -- starts somewhere. Also, we have a live chat feature on gamedays for discussion in realtime.
Thanks again! Like I said before, you guys remind me of the Oregon State fans: Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, loyal. I am privileged to interact with you -- I hate getting into pee'ing contests over trivial stuff -- you guys avoid that garbage.
Yes only we are more specialists here. Some of our fans are enthusiastic, others are knowledgeable.

Yes only we are more specialists here. Some of our fans are enthusiastic, others are knowledgeable.Well, ZipMeister, imho, your blend tilts towards the knowledgeable side. I get upset with some of my fellow PSU fans who act like we should get 3 TDs just for showing up.I just noticed the "comments" section for the UA-PSU game at ESPN is open. (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/conversation?gameId=292480213) Looks like the thread is wandering all over the place -- lots of Iowa Hawkeye fans have hijacked the UA-PSU discussion -- but check it out.

I started that ESPN thing off with a few trollish posts to see if I could draw some PSU fans into commenting there. It worked, but I wasn't expecting Iowa and USC fans to show up and threadjack the thing.
Kid, you are a piece of work! What do you do for a living -- organize labor unions? LOL! BTW, I hear the Zips coaching staff is so confident against Penn State they are going to spot us two TD's. Can you confirm that rumor for me? Thanks, David, for providing a better link to the ESPN thread.

[No news is good news. Akron has a history of our top recruits not being on the team by the first game, but supposedly that's no longer a problem. Once camp starts up, we'll find out about position battles and stuff. I'm thinking that the QB spot will see a battle, despite returning a QB who started for two years already.

We've all questioned attendance figures at the rubber bowl in past seasons. This quote was taken from the PSU website.
Beaver Stadium attendance figures include the press box, suites, bands, ushers and other stadium personnel.
I found it amusing.
I know we count the band in attendance figures. I wonder about the other personnel, though. Maybe we should count both our team and the opposing team and their coaches and staff. That's another 300 or so. :P

SourcePenn State could be without its projected starting cornerback and top backup defensive tackle when preseason practice starts Aug. 10. Coach Joe Paterno said today at the Big Ten Conference's annual media days that redshirt junior defensive tackle Abe Koroma and senior cornerback A.J. Wallace are dealing with off-the-field issues. Their lockers were cleared out earlier this month. Asked if Koroma would be back, Paterno said: "I doubt if Koroma will be. He's got some personal problems." As for Wallace, Paterno said: "There is some question. He cut some classes." Koroma, 6 feet 3, 317 pounds, started four games last year and finished with 26 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Wallace, 6-1, 201, has appeared in 39 career games for the Nittany Lions, with six starts. He had 20 tackles a year ago.large_KOROMA_ODRICK.jpgAbe Koroma (#95)44314085.jpgAJ Wallace (#1)

Come 9/5/09, we will be vacationing/partying at our favorite Beech in Happy Valley. We're gonna have sun umbrellas, lots of SPF 45 tanning lotion, big straw hats, ice chests full of cold Buds, lots of Bikini Clad wives and girfriends, and volleyballs. Then around kickoff time, we are going to get serious and take Our Beeches (aka The Nittany Lions) and spank the livin' hell out of 'em. And we're gonna kick up a lot of sand in their scrawny faces!!! (and steal their girls, and take their beer). Say it Loud and say it Proud - PSU is our Beech (locals only). B) FINAL SCORE:ZIPS 42The Lowly Lions 28

Wallace was the only Penn State BD with any significant experience.
That's not necessarily the best qualification, considering how our DBs got burned in a few games. I blame them in part for the breakdowns that led to the late Iowa score, and of course USC was all over us. Another part was the defensive scheme, of course, but did Bradley build a defense around the players he had or were the players forced to play in a scheme they were uncomfortable in? Quien sabes?Nice PhotoShop work on the scoreboard. Your next project is to restore Michael Jackson to his birth characteristics. (That ought keep you busy for a couple hundred years . . . . )39 days until kick-off!!

App. State wasn't supposed to win its opener either.Just as a thinker, here are some "upsets" to consider. :rock:http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=62
That's a good list, but don't ask me how one leaves off Miami's 21-12 defeat of LSU in Baton Rouge during the 1986 season. The Bengal Tigers would go on to finish 9-3 as SEC champs that same year.Link
