I'm DONE

That's it I'm done, how do you call a TO on a FG and a 4th and 1 punt. I have given JD my support all along but now I'm done. The play calling is atroshich, is that a word? How don't you throw the ball downfield with Nicely's arm. The play calling is ridiculous. They don't have a clue what they have with Nicely, hopefully he does not want to transfer. That kid is the best thing this place has seen in years. The personal fouls out of bounds were terrible but that what i've been seeing from MAC officiating. I sent them a e-mail a couple weeks ago about evaluations on there officials and they never got back to me. This wil be my last post until we make some changes. GO ZIPS!!

I was at the game yesterday and sat in the Akron section. Well, I was just about to become a Syracuse fan after those calls. 3rd and 1 TWICE and you throw from the shotgun. Now I don't have a problem throwing, as long as you go for it on 4th down, but no! YOU THROW FROM THE SHOTGUN AND GET SACKED ONCE MAYBE TWICE IF I REMEMBER IT CORRECTLY! Absolutely horrible! This is just sad. By the end of the game, I was chanting "CALEB PORTER!" and "15-0! LET'S GO ZIPS SOCCER!" I love football, but this isn't football. This is just terrible coaching that should've been fired last year. Now these players are playing their guts out, so let's still support them. JD on the other hand, all I can say is your a great guy, but it's time for change. Let's go Zips!

Welcome to all the newcomers!... this is what it feels like -- and always has felt like -- to be a Zips fan. Long-timers please chime in and help me out here.Lets list all the disappointing seasons we have endured over the years....I'll start:Dateline 1986 -- AD **Dave Adams ** (corrected) SID Ken McDonald and Pres Wm J Muse decide UA Football should move up from IAA to IA. Hire Gerry Faust to coach the Zips. "Promote" Dennison to AD. We leave the OVC to do so but we neglect to look at OVC rules and all other sports have to go Independent too... Leads to Bob Huggins going to Cincinnati soon after. Faust goes 7-4 in the transition year as ESPN comes to Akron for a Thurs Nite and brodcasts Murray State vs Akron. Faust makes some calls and picks up a lot of games from SMU Death Penalty...Auburn, Florida, Tenessee, etc .etc. The spankings begin. The goal of moving to the old Big East never materializes. Akron joins the illustroious NEC Conference in all other sports (incl basketball). New rivals include Mt St Mary's, and two St Francises, Quinnipiac, Monmouth... etc. A few months later, we leave the NEC for the MAC all-sports. The football team is decimated by transfers -- players who were recruited under the "Grand Plan" didn't bargain for the MAC... Faust records fall off even against MAC opponents.... and he's fired.Replaced by Owens.

WHOA there, K-Roo. The misguided athletic director in question was DAVE ADAMS, not Ken MacDonald. Ken MacDonald was the long-time Akron Sports Information Director and a Jim Dennison man through and through.

Jim Dennison is very unhappy with his "Promotion" right at the peak of his coaching career and does nothing to convince Huggins to stay. He soon bolts for greener pastures. Gerry Faust is a great guy, but a lousy head coach for an emerging D-1 program. One of his brilliant ideas is to move the Home sideline to the stands opposite the pressbox side of the RB. It will look better on national TV, the season ticket holders are told. The zips go from a top 1-aa program to bottom dweller in the MAC.

:D interesting to see what some of the defenders are saying...i don't think there are haters...thats just some peoples' justification to save face...stop assuming everything is personal...its not...at least not for most of US...people are not attacking Mr. Brookhart personally...just the performance over the past 4 years..lets also remember that there are FAR more important callings in society than being a football coach... i am certain Mr. Brookhart and his family will 'survive' quite comfortably no matter what happens at the end of the season..

I think they will as well. There is a good chance he could go to the NFL as a position coach and make more money than at UofA.....his last NFL offer was for more than what UofA was paying. He will also get a nice plump buy-out in the process.

Not to get too religious, but don't callings come from God. And if God calls us to a job, why is one more important than another? You shouldn't so smugly look down your nose at other people. Not everyone can spend their career documenting pay stubs of criminals.

I don't assume that everything is personal. I evaluate each post and each poster on an individual basis, and some of the critical posts have contained downright hateful language. Not all of them, but some of them. Excusing this is not any more defensible than dreaming up excuses for poor performance on the football field. And if being a football coach is not a high calling, what does that say about those fans who can't contain themselves when the trivial pursuit of football results in more losses than wins? One of life's conundrums, to be sure.
