Check the MAC board. Nobody knows how they got away with it. Some (crazy) people are saying that ISU is moving up to the FBS.Perhaps there was a policy shift with the new commissioner coming in, but it hasn't been reflected in the actual written conference rules.It's something to keep an eye on.

Playing YSU would have made sense a couple years ago, because the Penguins actually had a following. I attended the YSU game 2 weeks ago and there were no more than 5,000 butts in the seats. And it was a key game (7-1 South Dakota State). No one in Mahoning or Trumbull County cares about YSU football anymore.So YSU brings 2,000 fans to Akron? Big whup.Why would Akron travel to a marginal 1-AA school's field? For $150,000? We can get $800,000 going to Happy Valley.Keep scheduling Clarion and Slippery Rock. That's YSU's level.

Fact is you guys couldn't even get 20,000 for a BIG10 team. You had at least one clearly below 10,000 fans, a friend of mine informed me, and your team sucks just as bad as our team does. God only knows what your actual attendance really is. It's awful pathetic a city of 220,000 people can't find 27,000 people in a 30 minutes drive to come see MAC football. While us here in Youngstown, a city of 80,000, usually gets more fans in the stands than you guys.Stambaugh Stadium is not a glorified high school stadium.

Don't "try" to insult an amazing stadium because yours is crap and well before I wrote my last post I had to look online because I had no idea where your team played. I am assuming this is where you play:impressive!We are averaging over 20k+ per game, so you should try to get your info from someplace more respectable than a "friend." I've been at every game and I know none of them were under 10k. Other members on here can inform you of our numbers and let you know your school does not outsell us sorry...

There are hints that ISU is looking to move up. The game is in 2013, which fits the NCAA time line of 2014 ending the moratorium on teams moving to the FBS. ISU would be a provisional member. They're expanding their stadium, supposedly to 25,000 capacity and that also fits in that time line.

I think that is consistent with where our vision of the program is. It may not be yours and, hence, we don't play. Akron should only play the old I-AA teams at home. Playing you guys in Y-Town is not part of our plan to raise the level of our play, improve our leadership, improve our conference affiliation and our improve our reputation.We may disagree, but I think Akron fans generally try to be civil. in soccer

When I felt YSU was unfairly attacked, I decided to defend YSU like any normal fan would.You guys can claim you are averaging 20,000 a game, but come on now, you cannot tell me with a straight face that 20,000 actual people are showing up at your games. While I expect a drop-off tonight and with the EMU game, I have no reason to think the stated attendance figures up to this point have been inflated. I could be wrong, but the process seems to be different than the old Rubber Bowl days.

I've been hearing attendance debates for decades. One confusing factor is paid attendance vs. butts in seats. A certain percentage of people with tickets do not show up for games for a variety of reasons, so paid attendance is always higher than actual attendance. If there are many no-shows, questions invariably arise about the officially announced attendance.Having attended all the games this year in the Zips' new stadium, the actual attendance appears to have been reasonably close to the officially announced paid attendance, based on the percentage of seats actually filled, the actual number of seats available, and factoring in a reasonable percentage of ticketholders who did not show up.

Announced attendance last night was 10,927, and there clearly weren't that many in the stands. So there were obviously many no-shows.
