"We have such high expectations here that it doesn't bother us," Dambrot said. "We want to be great ... we don't care what others think. We care what we think. I went through that coaching LeBron in high school. If you didn't win by 20 points, everyone thought you were a bum. I'm used to it."
Yeah, everyone thinks Dambrot's a bum. It was funny...consistent with many quotes from last season...Dambrot's post-game comments to Frenchie after beating Drake began with a slight to the fans. The general theme was - "No one remembers how many games we won over the past 6 years...everyone thinks when we start 0-2 that we stink."They guy is always complaining about lack of support...never showing much gratitude for the many loyal followers he's got.I guess it is simply a motivational thing for him. He convinces himself that everyone thinks he's a bum, and that motivates him to be his best. But it isn't true.Like t or not, we all love Keith Dambrot and want him to stay at UA for as long as he wants to be here. I hope I didn't ruin his primary motivational tool by saying that.

I'm with you CK, and I've told him as much in person. No one's perfect, and he'll always be critiqued, but not only is Keith Dambrot a great basketball head coach, but he is an Akron Alumnus and fan, like all of us. I love seeing him at the other sporting events. I sat behind him during one of the men's soccer games a few weeks before the men's basketball team practices began. He was telling someone how great the soccer team is and how much fun they are to watch.

I agree. I have never understood KD's comments about the fans. Criticizes those that show up and those that do not show up.On the other hand, it fits right into the UA way. UA wants to be big time, yet how many are prepared to pay the price. A part of paying the price is accepting criticism by the fans, if you want to call it that. That said, sure fans get pissed if we lose, yet I have never heard even one fan say anything more disparaging than the list of comments KD made after the AP loss. As CK pointed out, if even one fan made those same comments, he may get banned from entering the JAR. (or the board)I don't understand it..never will. Personally, if I had his won/loss record at a DI school, I would gladly accept ten thousand fans calling me out. At least it shows they give a damn. And giving a damn about UA anything is hard to find!!!

Perhaps at one time he wanted to be a priest. An acquaintance tells me that at his church the sermon is the same each week. You are all sinners, you are all going to hell, be sure and come back next week. Sound familiar? :)

No body ever thought that the bball team stinks. If i thought they stink, i wouldn't be disappointed when they loose. But seeing how good they are, people have higher expectations and thus get disappointed when they loose... to AP... at home... after a 16 points lead.Definitely, KD is greatly appreciated and loved at Akron.About the interest and the crowds, if KD follows soccer, he should understand how that's done. Caleb never complained about it, he just went to work. He created a fun and exciting environment for the rowdies, who started coming to games in bunches and made the games more fun and more interesting to Joe Akron, and yeah... the soccer team are always winning. It worked for Caleb so it should work for KD.

All the other stuff aside, how cool is it to open the USA Today and find an early season article about the Zips? Very Nice! Tells me there's more where that comes from as things move forward.National Fishwrap Coverage!! B) B) B) B) Go Zips!!!

Did anyone else notice that Zeke played a whopping 0 minutes in the second half? Did he get hurt or was KD trying to prove they could win without him? Any info?
I was wondering that as well.

To me, it looked like Zeke was being sent a message. A lot of folks don't think we matched up well with APB with him in the middle. I respectfully disagree. I watched the game from GA, and for the entire second half, Zeke sat at the far end of the bench. It seems as if something went on during halftime and coach told him he wouldn't be playing the second half regardless of what happened. I guess we'll never know and we'll have to see how things go with both Humpty and Zeke on Sunday vs Niagara.
