GP1
Rasor posted this article on his blog about what the coach at Can't had to say about one of his recruits. Mike's response is a good one. How Martin keeps his job is beyond me. Maybe the administrators at Can't think he will go postal if he is fired. Maybe he has been fired and keeps showing up for work like that strange guy in the movie Office Space....I think his name was Milton.Mike also posts a note to KD. Strange and unnecessary note if you ask me. First of all, Rasor should not be saying "your magesty" to anyone, even in jest. Rasor seems to be becoming a little full of himself..."critically thinking reasonable people"? I guess law school and Stow City Council is a bigger deal than I had thought. He seems to be developing the arrogance of a politician.

Blue & Gold
I agree. When I read Rasor calling KD "his majesty" it also struck me as being kind of odd. Knowing Rasor is a Zips fan and KD supporter, I figured Rasor must have meant that KD's a very good coach and on top of the MAC mountain (kinda) right now? But it could have easily been taken differently. If someone called me "his majesty" I'd think it was either some sort of back-handed compliment, or that they thought I was an absolute egomaniac. I'd want to know why they called me by that moniker. And I guess KD did ask Rasor what exactly he did mean by it.
Dave in Green
"His majesty" = total non-issue.I spent my entire professional life working with journalists, and they do this kind of stuff all the time. It's totally innocent and good natured even when someone takes it wrong and tries to make an issue of it.Whatever you do for a living, imagine that someone could peer over your shoulder all the time, pick out silly things and post them on a forum as representative of your "missteps."Anyway, how can we possibly get upset at Rasor after he showed the good sense to advise KD to ignore "what some idiots on ZipsNation.org say"? RootforRoo44
Who cares what he called KD. I'll take Mike Rasor over Mike Hrush ANYDAY.
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
Rather than Rasor, I would much rather that a real reporter at the Leaking Urinal cover the Zips consistently. The coverage of UA sports has been better in the last year than it had been before, but that's not saying much. The decrepit little paper that seems to cover only pain and misery can't send someone 3 blocks down the street to get deep into UA and its sports programs? We have to rely on a wannabe politician to sporadically post about the Zips? That, as they say, is the big time fellas.
Valpo Zip
I think that the two "letters" from Rasor to Martin and KD are very well written ones. I don't see why this deserves its own thread.
Captain Kangaroo
Anyway, how can we possibly get upset at Rasor after he showed the good sense to advise KD to ignore "what some idiots on ZipsNation.org say"?It's funny...the general media gleans all sorts of information and ideas from our board, and we never get any positive credit. But, if someone acts like an idiot on our board, ZipsNation gets an explicit mention.
Dave in Green
Don't be so sensitive, CK. Rasor also advised KD to ignore him. It was all in fun. He didn't say everyone on ZN was an idiot, just "some." I know we all agree with him, even though we may disagree about who the "idiots" are. ;)Most importantly, Rasor posted links to ZN in his blog. How can we not appreciate that?

Dr Z
I agree with 90 percent of what Mike writes. I love his coverage and his passion for the Zips. What writer do you guys agree with 100 percent of the time? It irritates me when somebody writes a couple things that somebody doesn't agree with and he is totally wrong. I love livingin a country where you can speak your mind. Not too long ago we had a writer for the Zipsthat was a Penguins fan, worst dribble I have ever read, totally useless. Mike does a goodjob. I think he should use this little "riff" with KD too his advantage. Coach is too honest and emotional in his interviews. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I love it. But if I were a coach, I would handle interviews more business like. I think the reporter has the coach right where he wants him.I won't even comment on the screwball from Portage County. Not worth it.

MDZip
\Milton and Martin.....good parallel! After all they both have been heard to mutter something to the effect of "burn the building down".And they just kept making Milton's life more and more miserable, hoping he would finally get the hint and leave. Seems like a pretty good parallel for a Can't State football coach. Wonder if Martin has noticed any boxes being stacked in his office yet? GP1
I wonder if Martin is saying, "Hey, JD Brookhart stole my Swingline on the way out the door. I'm going after him, just save me some cake."

Sure, it would be nice if the Columbus Beacon Journal dug deep into UA sports and actually published them on the front page of the sports page. But does UA really want them to? And how much will they really cooperate? For example, what happened in the Reno recruiting investigation the University was performing? Is it unreasonable to believe the Beacon has asked nothing about this in recent months? They made it a huge story so why wouldn't they want to continue until the end? When you try to control the media, bad things get reported. An open relationship with the media makes it much easier to control than a combative relationship. I would like to know what the relationship the school has with various media outlets.I find these questions as difficult to answer as Mike Ditka finds finishing sentences.
