Dave in Green
This is nothing but wild speculation. But since KD is now talking about another guard coming in next year, and most of the highly rated guards are already committed, how about this unlikely scenario: Dakotah Euton's highly rated HS teammate, 6-4 shooting guard Ge-Lawn Guyn, committed to and then decommitted from Charlotte. Would he want to continue playing with Euton in college? Odds are way against it, as Guyn is talking to such teams as Indiana, Louisville, Xavier, Cincinnati, Texas, Alabama, Nebraska, Florida, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin and Mississippi State. But why not dream a little. Guyn is given 3 stars by Scout.com and ranked the 44th best shooting guard in the class of 2010. Scott County standout Dakotah Euton has signed with Akron and Chad Jackson has given a verbal commitment to James Madison. So what about Ge-Lawn Guyn? Let'sGoZips94
Honestly, I think we might have a chance. That is, if Euton can help us out and talk to him. This guy sounds solid. Nice guard height. Great teams looking at him. This could be interesting.
zippyman23
It would be nice, but there is no chance that Guyn would come here. We've never been in the picture for him.
ZachTheZip
Maybe. I still think getting a true PG should be the team's primary concern.

GoZips
Not happening Agreed. A little birdie told me some time ago that the fourth player in the mix is a PG from the Chicago area. Do some homework.

ZachTheZip
Jay Harris is a great target, if ESPN is to be believed.

Dave in Green
All the discussion pegs Harris as more of a shooting guard than a point guard.
Quickzips
Harris really doesn't look like what we are looking for. We have enough undersized combo-guards whose focus is primarily on the offensive end of the floor on our roster. What we need is a 6'3"-6'5" athletic SG who can put the ball on the floor and get to the rack and who is a good defender with nice lateral quickness. Harris, though I don't doubt he is good, is more of the same. An undersized 3 ball specialist who doesn't have a true position at this level. ZachTheZip
We can rule Jay Harris out. He's going to Valpo.
ZachTheZip
Here's a 3-star 6'3" JUCO PG from Texas with interest in Akron.
Quickzips
I've talked about Durant on here before, but he is really the guy I would like to see us get. Size, athleticism, ability to penetrate and either dish the ball off or finish at the rim. If he is at all interested we should really go hard after this guy. Dave in Green
Apparently Durant's connection to Akron goes way back to 2007: July 13, 2007 ..... Durant said he's heard from Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth and Akron. florida.rivals.com link This was before he signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech, then couldn't meet academic requirements and went the JUCO route. If he's still an ACC level player, it would be a Zeke-like achievement to lure him to Akron.
ZachTheZip
Hmm. Maybe it's Darion Anderson from NIU? He has one year left. He was also released from his scholarship after a serious falling-out with the coach. http://www.northernstar.info/ArticlePage.p...p;sectionfrom=4 In a situation like this, there is a possibility that he doesn't have the stipulations against joining another MAC team.
