Ennis opens up recruitment

I thought this was bad news and then I heard about Zeke transferring!

That better be a joke. Presuming it is, I'm not laughing too hard.

If facebook is any indicator, Mr. Marshall is not enjoying his time in Akron too much recently. I haven't heard anything concrete, just observing.

I think I know what you're talking about. I saw his status the other day. Let's hope he doesn't pack up and leave.

I love the paranoia. Zipmeister started it as a joke (his most successful troll yet; a hearty congratulations is in order), and then the anxiety of Zips fans took over. We're paranoid about LeBron leaving, half the Zips basketball team just transferred, and it seems like the athletics department has forgotten that they have fans. It's just a mental snowball effect stemming from the self-hating NE Ohio sports fan psyche.

Zeke isn't going anywhere (not yet, anyway ;))

I'm sick of Akron and the people here, too. They are far too quick to assume the worst, and they seem to enjoy being miserable and spreading that misery to other people.

Thank you. It's always nice to have one's efforts recognized. In this case, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. :gun:(--)

Haha. Phew, it's nice to have a real "insider." It's hard not to be paranoid in NE Ohio, you're right Zach. Glad to see the kid has his head screwed on straight. We're headed for big things in the basketball world here at UA and Zeke is going to be a big part of it. And as poorly as the Indians are playing and as bad as football is expected to be, I'm already looking forward to seeing the new and improved Zeke & Co. on the hardwood.

Trivia question: How many times did the boy guarding the sheep in the Aesop fable falsely cry "Wolf!" to fool the villagers before they stopped taking him seriously?

Answer: Twice.

Use your next one wisely. ;)

Wow, this thread took off in a whole new direction. Losing Ennis stinks, but I learned things could be a whole lot worse.

Don't think we've necessarily lost Ennis yet at this point. Kid seems like he's had a good summer and there has been more attention on him lately. Sounds like he's just looking to see what other kind of opportunities may have opened up for him based on that. I guess you can't really blame him. Hopefully he finds his way back to Summit County Ohio.

I'd be shocked if he re-commits. He's already been contacted by UNLV, Virginia, and Xavier, with likely more to follow. Seems he is looking to go to a higher profile school, and it looks he will have options.

If he breaks a commitment, I blame him. If you don't intend to keep your commitments, don't make them. There used to be a thing called honor.

I agree. Don't commit unless you are willing to keep the commitment. Zeke committed to Akron and followed through regardless of what 'bigger' schools called.

Let's just look at this experience as an object lesson in the old saying, "You can't believe everything you read on the Internet." After all, that's how World War I got started.

If Ennis is ended totally out of the picture, then we DEFINITLY need to fill his spot with another PG. Next years team is really only going to have one PG on it, Abreu. Hopefully Dylan comes back around to the Zips, because I think he could make a dynamic 1-2 punch with Abreu, but if not there are some other options out there for us.

Personally I'd LOVE to have Stevie Taylor from Gahanna Lincoln. The kid has been tearing up the AAU circuit all summer, and he's hit a growth spurt that is making his diminuitive stature less of an issue. There is also Jehvon Clarke from Canton Timken, Nyles Evans from North Canton Hoover, Traevon Jackson from Westerville South, Trey Lewis from Garfield Heights and another favorite, Travis Trice from Wayne High School in Dayton.
