Let'sGoZips94
I wonder if William Trapp knows Nate Linhart. Not to sound stupid, but what's that "club" thing mean?
ZachTheZip
I wonder if William Trapp knows Nate Linhart. Not to sound stupid, but what's that "club" thing mean? Linhart graduated before Trapp was a freshman. And the club is the youth club that they play for. It's usually more important than what high school they go to. Like AAU in basketball. MDZip
You know you're a major player when you get recruits from all over the country year after year. Kudos to Caleb. Of all of things that Mack Rhoads did that people didn't like, we still have to thank him for this one.

Sorry not to see Erik Zavaleta -- yet at least. And furthermore -- about half our club did not play HS soccer -- too busy making a name for themselves nationally and internationally with their club "Crews". And...El Paso, TX is the furthest West Caleb & Co. have wandered. To continue recruiting dominance -- or to get better -- we need to go "no borders" in recruiting. There are a couple kids in Hawai'i who could help. Oh, BTW -- yes, Caleb was already on hand before Rhoads showed up. It was Mike & Mike who put together the recruiting committee, with a lot of help from their UVa connex (including Bruce Arena).
ZachTheZip
My source would be ESPNRise. http://rise.espn.go.com/boys-soccer/articl...ommitments.aspx Also, Top Drawer Soccer says that we have a 4th verbal for 2011: Kyle Culbertson. Don't know what high school he attends, but he plays for the Columbus Crew Academy.

Caleb! How could you let those hated Hoosyers get that kid?? Surprising: Xavier with verbals from Will Walker of Crew Academy and a kid from Wisconsin who's scored 125 HS goals in three years! w00t
ZIP, where did you hear Zavaleta is going to Indiana? *Edit: Never mind, found it. Too bad, would have been nice to snipe another five-star recruit right out of the Hoosiers' backyard.

Don't tell me he wasn't on campus when the Stile Center and Student center were built too? Ambitious bio, to say the least... but it worked. Too bad, would have been nice to snipe another five-star recruit right out of the Hoosiers' backyard. w00t, Zavaleta's final choices came down to Akron, Duke, Wake and Indiana. Congratulations to Team Yeagley. Nice interview from last fall. Interesting, his uncle is long-time MLS player Greg Vanney. Looking ahead? Here's Top Drawer's 2012 Top-100. I know that #2 and #4 have to be Akron's top targets -- if they haven't chosen yet. Oliver comes from the same club system as Perry Kitchen and Zavaleta, so I'm sure Caleb and his pal in Hoosierland will be battling it out again . Souder, who is the top talent at Premier Soccer Academy is originally I believe from New England somewhere. And I'm still trying to find out if #3 is related to the Speaker of the House. Z.I.P.
What is our scholarship situation, anyways? We only have three seniors leaving after this season. Unfortunately, the "scholarship situation" in soccer cannot be determined by looking at the roster and finding how many seniors there are. With 9.5 schollies max, teams have to spread the wealth. Well, I guess that's another example of Obama's impact on sports! You'd have to get inside info to find out who is on an athletic scholarship, versus academics, versus paying their own way. You can find my PM box, if you want to share. And you know I am discreet with your insider info. Soccerboy414, where are you?

Maybe not, but you can easily determine how many roster spots open up at the end of the season.

But I wasn't Sure what we got for the 2010 & 2011 classes... I don't think the 2011 class is complete. The ACC powers are making a strong comeback against the new boys on the block. Md., Wake, UVa and Duke -- and Yeagley Jr at IU -- have great hauls so far. But it ain't over yet! One thing it seems -- the rest of the nation is falling behind the ACC, Big Ten and Akron. And considering the great players on the West Coast, it shouldn't be that way. BTW -- New York Red Bull and Kansas City Wizards (Sinisa U. and Tel B.) are in action on national TV on Saturday versus English Premier League teams. KC plays Man U, Red Bulls vs Bolton I believe. But I wasn't Sure what we got for the 2010 & 2011 classes... Final rankings for soccer recruiting classes generally aren't posted until August right before school starts to get the final tallies and rosters for everyone. College Soccer News does a pretty good job with this. And Andy, welcome, we are a pretty supportive soccer school, but just be aware that folks are not likely to talk to you too much on here because the NCAA has regulations about contact between potential recruits and "boosters" which people on this board can be considered to be. So it's not because we're unfriendly but because we don't want you (or us) to run afoul of anything which could jeopardize your future.
