TexanMark
Joe at group Sales is doing a great job helping me out with getting my Syracuse Tailgate group set up. We should be tailgating in a credential lot...hope to see some of you guys. We are an opposing team fan friendly tailgate. I expect 50 or so folks from Syracuse at my tailgate. Dr Z
Good to see a nice post about the ticket office, it has been a struggle to get this far. Hope you enjoy the game and atmosphere.
ZachTheZip
Glad to hear that you guys are getting taken care of. You seem to have a good plan set up here. When tailgating, keep in mind that alcohol is not supposed to be allowed so try to keep it under cover. Our stadium and campus are landlocked in an urban environment, so there is no sprawling parking lot surrounding the stadium for tailgating, instead its scattered around the various university lots. If anybody is flying to Akron-Canton Airport, it's about a 10 minute drive from the university and there are plenty of hotels along the way. It's also much, much closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame which is something interesting to do. You're also about two hours away from Cedar Point along I-90, but it's bound to be extremely crowded that weekend.

ZachTheZip
I don't think you'll see the sideline from that close. The lower bowl is not very steep. But I can't say for sure because I usually sit in the student section, right up against the wall in the front row.
Captain Kangaroo
When tailgating, keep in mind that alcohol is not supposed to be allowed so try to keep it under cover. Mark - Please keep in mind the Zack directs visiting fans to ice cream stands when they ask about tailgating. And, he doesn't drink. There are absolutely no alcohol issues at InfoCision parking lots. The only thing frowned upon is glass. And if anyone has a glass bottle, the police are apt to simply ask that you place the contents in a plastic cup. Charcoal grills are also allegedly frowned upon... but I have yet to see that one enforced. Your fans can drink like fish and you will be fine. Please PM me with any concerns. Or post your questions here, and ignore any of Zach's responses. Both options are equally effective.

The Capt is right about the tailgating info. as for the seats....i'm row 12 between the 35/40 and i can see the close sideline. i think the seats are great. good sight lines and it seems like your down on the field. a win win as far as i'm concerned. I am sure Zips fans will be joining you in Lot 9 since many of its fans who regularly attend games and support the University can no longer park there. We will probably be stuck in either Lot 14 or 73 thanks to U Tube Tom.

Sorry, I'm unaware of the parking politics...I actually asked him to try to get us in a lot on the west side of campus somewhat near the cash lots. There are absolutely no restrictions on drinking at InfoCision unless you have glass, or are under age.
scottditzen
Funny story...at the first game I was in Lot 9 when an Akron cop drove straight up to me on a four-wheeler. He was staring daggers not really at me, but at the glass bottle of Great Lakes I was flaunting in my hand. I finally realized my offense and said, "Oh, sorry" and coolly hid the bottle behind my back. He gave me the "okay" sign, smiled and continued on his way. TexanMark
I'm at 54 tickets in my group already...I expect to get to 65 or so. Add in about 30 more coming with tickets from other sources and this will be the largest tailgate I've ever planned on the road. Looking forward to a great time. Hope to see a few of you guys...walk ins with 12 packs of beer are very welcomed. Edit: Bought 7 more...up to 61 in our Section. I've decided to close it down to new people as it is starting to get too big.
ZachTheZip
I heard they ended up moving the Syracuse tailgaters to a different lot. Looks like UA might end up pushing out the Akron partiers in Lot 34 to make room. It's not that they're bringing the most people ever to tailgate at an Akron football game (Can't used to bring nearly 10,000 back when they actually had fans), but since we moved away from the open fields of the Rubber Bowl it's not as easy to just park all your cars in one area and stake out a nice open spot. scottditzen
I think it may take a few seasons for our tailgating to sort itself out. It's just the nature of being on a half finished campus in an urban environment. I heard they ended up moving the Syracuse tailgaters to a different lot. Yeah. I think when the new parking deck opens it will clear out a lot of surface lot space.
RowdyZip
I don't mean to be negative or rude, but why are we reserving ANY area for VISITING fans? I'm not a lot 34 regular (yet), but I'd be as pissed as I was when I got the boot from lot 9.
Dr Z
...as I was when I got the boot from lot 9.Sure sounds like a lot of big ZN tailgaters are moving out of that lot. I wonder how many actual grills, tables, tvs and corn hole games will be set up in lot 9 this year. My guess is that it is going to turn into a boring parking lot with not much tailgating. I could be wrong, but I am going to stop by there and make sure to take some photos this year. I'm really looking forward to moving to a new lot this year and making a bunch of phone calls and emails to recoordinate gathering everybody in a new lot. Sure hope it changes again next year, really keeps things exciting.

Me too... 20 yr Season Ticket Holder have choices of Lot #'s 73, 8 etc. 3 is across Exchange at Buchtel Field... 8 is behind the Rec Center.... and still had to pay 2X as much for parking as last year! I'm not a lot 34 regular (yet), but I'd be as pissed as I was when I got the boot from lot 9. It is called being a good host. College athletics is more collegial. I invited Akron fans wandering by my lot in 2008 and 2009 to join us. It is how it should be done. Akron fans will be always welcomed at my tailgate as long as they're respectful. If you bought 65 tickets to the Syracuse game they would set something up for you too. When Penn State visited Cuse in 2008 they had a huge alumni tent 75 yards from the Dome for 500+ fans. We had people grumble too but it is what it is. Akron getting tickets sold en masse also pre-selling parking passes is smart business. Much more efficient to send out one envelope and talk to one guy versus 20+. Also, you'll take 35 cars off the streets around the stadium wandering around lost on game day and get them to a set aside lot. BTW, we still don't have a lot yet...they are looking at different options. Trust me Akron fans are getting priority for parking...they are taking care of the season pass holders first. This is why I'm still waiting to get a lot. To the guy posting we have Lot 30 something or whatever nothing has been finalized. BTW, Joe has done a great job and I appreciate his willingness to work with my group. If any of you set up a large group at a future game you'll see how professional he is to work with. MDZip
To put this in some perspective - we have a good sized group of SYRACUSE fans making the trip to Akron. The school that gave us Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Donovan McNabb. Holy S---! I think this is great!
