Once again, Akron has only one chance to win the East as I stated above.

If a three way tie exists at the conclusion of the season the tie would be broken by:

3. Comparison of conference winning percentage of cross-over opponents of the tied teams.

a. Tie breaker awarded to team whose cross division opponents had the best cumulative winning percentage.

As stated on page 92 of the Mid American Conference Compliance Handbook

BG's cross division opponents winning percentage would be the highest based on their games versus Toledo, Western Michigan, and Ball State.

Dude you need to calm your ass down. We are on here talking about this because we ARE in a position where we COULD win the East. We talk about it because not all of us are really sure as to how things work out, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that I don't think you are one hundred percent sure yourself.

Either way there is no need for the incesant yelling and angry posts. I don't know what problem you have with us talking about this, but I have a suggestion. If you don't like it stop reading it. Solves a lot.

I have a good friend in the MAC Office and the following are solid scenarios.

Miami cannot win the MAC East with any combination of wins losses of remaining MAC games.

BGSU is the MAC East Champ if...

If BGSU beats Toledo, BGSU is the MAC East Champ - regardless of any other game.

If Akron loses to Can't State and Ohio beats Miami, BGSU is the MAC East Champ.

If BGSU loses to Toledo, Akron loses to Can't State and Miami Beats Ohio, BGSU is the MAC East Champ as BGSU beat Miami.

The only ways that Akron can win the MAC East title are -

if Ohio beats Miami, Akron beats Can't, and Toledo defeats BGSU, Akron is the MAC East Champ.

If Toledo beats BGSU, Miami beats Ohio, and Akron beats Can't State there is a three-way tie for the MAC East Crown.

The first tiebreaker is head to head matchups, which is all even.

The second tiebreaker is record against the other MAC East schools, which is also all even.

The third tiebreaker is a comparison of conference winning percentage of cross-over opponents. If NIU beats WMU, both Akron and BGSU will be tied at a cross over record of 15-9. The best crossover win total for Miami would be 14, so the RedHawks would be eliminated.

Once Miami is out of the comparison, the tiebreakers revert back to the first of the list which is head to head matchups. Akron beat BGSU, so Akron is the MAC East Champ.

I agree with you Sloopy on all points but one.

/if OU wins then what I have below does not matter.

As of right now the Zips MAC west opponents have a record of 13 - 8

and BG's have a record of 14 - 7.

Now NIU plays WMU. We played NIU and BG played WMU so this game will be huge.

CMU plays Ball State. We played both and BG played BSU. We want CMU to win this

game.

And of course BG play Toledo. Which we need Toledo to win.

So after the Toledo game BG's west opponents will have a 15 - 7 record.

Now since CMU plays Ball State the Zips opponents record will be 14 - 9 regardless of who wins. So we need CMU to win and that will put BG's record at 15 - 8. Now if BSU win's then we need OU to win for sure or it will be over with a Miami win. Cause the Zips can only get 15 total wins and BG will have 16.

So that means it will come down to NIU vs. WMU.

If NIU win then Akron 15 - 9 BG 15 - 9 = Zips win tiebreaker.

But if WMU win's that means Akron 14 - 10 BG 16 - 8 BG wins tiebreaker.

This is how I see it.

Stop It!!!!!!!!!

You are all truly idiots.  It isn't that difficult to figure out.

First, for the Zips to win the East and play in the Championship game the following scenario has to occur:

1.  BG loses to Toledo

2.  Miami loses to Ohio

3.  Zips defeat Can't State

This is the only scenario that allows Akron to win the East!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second, the Zips are an absolutely awful football program.  Do you people really think that they deserve to be champions of the east and play in the Championship game?  How embarrassing that would be for the MAC.  The fact that Akron is still mathematically alive in the East just proves how pathetic the MAC Conference has been this season.

Give me a freakin' break!

So this dude is wrong?

I thought those big red letters were pretty convincing.

PS I think Zipsnation was the first place that the proper scenario was posted on the entire web? Am I wrong?
