Captain Kangaroo
Link to it In their Zips thread, two funny things stand out -- 1.) Some clown remains irritated at the "lack of class" shown by the Zips fans after the Zips won the MCB. If there is one Universal Truth in all the world, it is -- If you use the term "lack of class" to blanket-describe anyone's fan base, you, as an individual, are pretty much a douche. 2.) Funny that GP1 is the spokesperson for all Zips fans. Boy do they latch on to him. Looking forward to better discussion as the week proceeds. ditchrider1
Lack of class? Ha ha...I had at least 3 run-ins hours before the MAC title game in Detroit from NIU fans. They were as clever as drunk spittling in my face shouting "What the hell is a Zips, hu huh" then there was the D.B. who made sure he went out of his way to ensure we didn't get an open bar seat at Hockeytown when it came available. All I heard was how they would be back in a few weeks to "tear up Detroit again" before the Motor City Bowl. Speaking of the title game...I snuck in my video camera and have an "alternate angle" of the game winning TD from the stands until we all got mobbed when we scored and the camera goes awry. I will have to upload it to Youtube, it is pretty sweet.
g-mann17
Wow, what a bunch of crybabies over there. "We should never lost that MAC Championship in 2005. Boo Hoo" Um as I recall we beat them early in the season that year too. Also found it hilarious that people in Dekalb are talking about "losing to some school they never even heard of". akzipper
I will be the first to admit that our football team isn't playing well this year. But if NIU fans want to compare schools...please. The last time NIU made national news for sports was in 2005, and why was that? because they LOST to us! We are nationally recognized for our success in several sports especially basketball and soccer. So we will probably lose Saturday to a school that 99% of the nation has never heard or nor cares about. I hope they keep talking crap. It's amazing that when a person posts about another team on his home fan board and gives evidence as to why his team should win, he is described as lacking class. As a point of fact, I believe the Zips can win Saturday and my evidence is not unreasonable. I agree with CK, people who talk about "classy" fan boards don't understand fan boards and are in fact douchebags. I didn't see my name on their board (didn't look that hard either), but I have no doubt that when the Great GP1 was in sixth grade, he could have posted a more interesting post than what is on their board. Very uninteresting people....just like their offense. Here's to another second place finish for NIU.

dreal1scout
Breaking news! I just viewed some of the comments on the NIU message board about us. Well I don’t have the time to register/comment on their site so I hope their spy dog (doggone) reads this post. First of all, I honestly never heard of NIU (I thought it stood for Northern Indiana University), nor could I even today find it on a US map (but that’s probably due to my unferieer undergrad educashun at Cant’ State). I have it on pretty secret Insider Info that our Zips are more than ready to bust out the MAC starting with NIU. I’ve spoken with quite a few of the guys and all of them assured me that the MAC Championship is ours. They admitted their collective bone-headed play of the earlier games, and assured me that the NIU Dogs are truly Our Bitch (just like PSUcks was a year ago). Yes I know we lost to PSU, but we at least kept it close/interesting. And NIU isn’t pSU. Anyways, I digress. My cousin from Buffalo (a long-time friend of ICoach) phoned me today and told me that ICoach guaranties a win this Saturday and predicts the Zips 2010 Mac Champs. He told me to expect the unexpected. Expect our run game to rack up big yards against the Dogs. In practice yesterday, #82 has apparently returned to his stellar playmaking ability both at WR and kick-returner. Our D-line has become more beastly overnight, and are ready and anxious to prove it (take it out on) the poor NIU Puppies! PN7 looks to have finally worked out the kinks and is expected by ICoach to put up some big numbers against NIU (which isn’t really saying much considering it’s NIU), but nevertheless, has showed a boatload of improved playmaking. Expect some surprises out of PN7 this weekend. There has been a ton of improvements over the past couple days at practice. New faces have stepped-up. All have been held accountable, and the starters will be those that have won the challenges. If I were a betting man, this game with NIU is a No-Brainer, Gimme, Take-It-To-The-Bank, Dead Lock, at EVEN money. I’m skipping my mortgage payment, and booking a 2-week vacation to Hawaii. Go ZIPS!! 2010
zipboy
Mrs ICoach is getting props on their message board though. On a second note, I never realized the bitterness that they have for us. Good to hear that we are celebrating the MAC 2005 championship this weekend. They can play Getsy to Hixon over and over on the scoreboard.

Wally B
This crap is hilarious..... they are going absolutely nuts!! It's not like we're expected to win or anything, but i will die if we do! If they want to call up Garret, lets put Hixson and Blackburn on the other end so they can show off their rings!!!! MAC Championship and Super Bowl that is I haven't seen a reaction like this since! Hey Hanrahan Your wifes a..... I know I know!!! The 05 team deserves a special plac for beating the same team TWICE in the same year

Quickzips
Man there are some overly sensitive little girls over there. Time for DeKalb to have a great big group unbunching of their panties, sit around the campfire, sing koom-ba-ya, maybe pop back a couple of valium and get over it. Well i did finish college in the 90's........ Saying the opposing fans are classless is sumount to admiting that you can't back up your own smack!!! You want to be the one to tell Hixson he didn't EARN that championship???
RowdyZip
Wow. What a bunch of oversensitive and overconfident whiners. They one-upped us by beating a (worse) Big Ten team on the road last night. Minnesota is terrible They won't win a conference game. They also lost to a 1AA at home. We're clearly intentionally drawing the ire of the extensive NIU fan base by celebrating the MAC championship win of 05 on Saturday. A lot of them expect their team to "run up" the score because of it. Problem is, they're not that good. The confidence is funny, because it's exactly how I felt a couple years back after seeing Dennis Kennedy cross the goal line at NC State as time expired. I won't predict a win, but it'll be a good game. I'd sure take Akron and the points (14). And just for good measure...

Agreed. As if NIU needed any incentive to'lay half a hundred' on Akron, rubbing their noses in something that happened 5 years ago was not a high minded choice. You especially don't want to do that when they are now a helluva lot better than you are. Maybe OK at another game but not this one. Maybe it shows the real mindset of this athletic department. Homecoming is exactlhy when they should do this type of event. I have no problem with them having a 5 year anniversary on Homecoming. It just so happens we had the team we beat five years ago show up for the game.
