Wednesday Nov 10th is early signing day....

In the media conference held today Keith mentions he expected to announce the signing of two recruits. Blake Justice was one. Does anyone know who else Keith expected to ink?

Most likely it's Deji Ibitayo. Our two other 2011 recruits are already on campus as greyshirts.

They are not grayshirts. They are non-qualifiers. Big difference.

Gray shirts are usually academically qualified. They simply enroll a semester late because scholarships are maxed out (i.e. football scholarships are maxed out for the fall 2010, but a few open up in the spring due to winter graduations, so a Feb 2010 gray shirt signee would enroll at UA in January 2011, not August 2010).

Gray shirts can play immediately assuming grades are good. Non-qualifiers cannot play for two semesters, assuming they are academically on-track after two semesters.

A pair of 6-3 guards -- one a great outside shooter and one a driver and leaper who plays above the rim. With the graduation of the 6-0 Roberts and 6-2 McNees, these two guards will be the shortest players on the team except for Abreu at 5-9.

Last season's roster had 5 players who were 6-2 or under, this season there are 3 and next season there will be 1. The Zips are definitely growing up.

It will certainly be nice to see some size in the Zips backcourt next season. Not only will we have the two new guys at 6'3" but we also will return McClanahan at 6'4" and add Xavier transfer Brian Walsh at 6'4". After years of watching mostly undersized combo-guards it will be interesting to watch how this plays out.

I think the biggest thing I like about Deji and Blake are the diversity they bring talent wise. Blake being a knock down shooter and a big offensive threat, Deji being a more athletic slasher and a more lock-down defender. It will give the Zips some more options and just make them that much more difficult to prepare for.
