Simply for storyline, I want Louisville to win. Ken Lolla losing in the Nat'l Championship to the school he left because he didn't believe was capable of winning a championship would be something straight out of a movie. That said, I have confidence we could beat either team.

Amen. I want Louisville. First of all, I think they are the most overrated team in the country. Second of all, they've never been to the College Cup before. Third of all, I want Ken Lola to just eat it. You didn't think you could win a championship with Akron, well you sure as heck aren't going to win one with Louisville.

Either way, though, Akron's winning the championship this year. With warm, fair weather, the best team in the nation (skill wise), and Caleb Porter coaching... :NCAAC:

FEEL THE RHYTHM! FEEL THE RHYME! GO WIN THE CUP! IT'S AKRON'S TIME! GO ZIPS!

Last night I spoke to a ref who did the UNC-SMU game(he reffed our indoor game) and he said that Louisville is going to kill UNC and they are the most complete team in the tournament. He also spoke highly of the Zips and predicted a Louisville-UA final.

I think Louisville presents the bigger challenge, obviously. That being said I could care less about a storyline. Bring us UNC. I would rather play them and become :NCAAC:

Confession to make....I grew up in NJ playing with Ken Lollas younger brother John. Ken would sometimes act as guest coach during practices. Then in high school we had to run the dreaded "Kenny Lolla drills" that were basically two hours of sprinting.

I was glad- and very suprised to meet up again with Coach Lolla here at Akron. Ken and John are absolutely fine people. That being said, it would be an amazing story for us to go up against Louisville to win this thing. I don't care about UNC, I want our Zips to play the number one seed.

GO ZIPS

Lolla did a lot for the community when he was here. He's a good man. I don't think he was happy about leaving Akron, but felt it was a move he had to make for professional reasons.

Having said that, I would none-the-less beat UNC in the title game. We're familiar with the Tar Heels. I'd be much more anxious facing the Cardinals.

Yes, Ken Lolla is a decent person and made the move to UL for purely professional reasons. I can't fault him for that.

A match-up against UNC would arguably be a higher profile match for the sake of national TV and exposure. Nonetheless, we have already beaten UNC this season and faced them in the College Cup last year.

A win against Louisville would be more memorable to the casual fan because of the back story with Ken Lolla (if the announcers discuss it) and really makes our program look like ground zero for men's college soccer. I also like the notion of beating the "#1" team and that we trail in the all-time series against UL. That being said, it would make a loss that much more bitter. I say, bring on Louisville!

Let's get past UM first though.

I have to say, the more I watch soccer the more I'm getting into it. Louisville was looking more agressive and quicker than North Carolina to my untrained eyes. I wasn't surprised when Louisville finally scored. But I was surprised at how quickly NC came back with a goal, almost as if they shifted into another gear as soon as Louisville scored. I could become a soccer fan. But I think it probably takes a long time to become a smart soccer fan.

Well, Zips fans got who they wanted. I hope it doesn't blow up in their faces like the last few times Zips teams have been in a championship game with the "preferable" match up.

I don't many 'preferred' Louisville for an easy win - its certainly going to be difficult but to be the best, we need to prove we can beat the #1 seed.

It's all about closure.
